We went there during the last week of August, which we should have known that the city was packed with tourists for the famous festivals, making the hotel price much higher than usual. Due to the old building the hotel reception lobby was small and packed with guests, making it very uncomfortable waiting for checking in. The breakfast cost us GBP11 each but only cold foods served, and asked us additional payment for any warm cooked menu.
The location was perfect, only a few minutes walk from the city center of Edinburgh, also having the Carlton Hill right at the rear for a good walk and sightseeing. The room was well cleaned and furnished with comfortable beds, and the staffs were well trained.
