Staff were great!!! I want to personally thank you for stocking our fridge with Guinness for my boyfriend!! He thought it was so funny and made his day!! So thanks again for that. The pool was gorgeous, love that it was all metal!! Beautiful to swim in. (I was a swimming instructor for years and have never been in a pool made of metal!) :)) very nice. We WILL be back! Regards, Katriona

Friendliness and attention of staff. The attention to detail and general presentation. Really nice atmosphere. Extremely comfortable and great view. I would be happy to return!

Too much duvet tucked in at the bottom of the bed also hand basin not quite clean. There were no drawers and the tea-making facilities were in the cupboard. It was cold in the ground- floor restaurant!

Fantastic location with great views of the castle but if we stayed again we would ask for a room away from the street noise.

Good sized room, good walk in shower area. Good location and very helpful staff. City beautiful and castle wonderful

No fridge in room, one very small bar in whole hotel which had frequently run out of lager, only steps to reception ( no escalator or small lift).

Central location and Reception staff efficiency and friendliness.

Long wait to be seated for breakfast at the main restaurant in the 5th floor. It appears that more staff is required to be solely responsible for clearing and preparing tables.

Booked a superior room with fantastic views of the castle. All staff are very helpful and friendly and loved being served at breakfast by polite happy waiters. Everything we needed was at close hand - bars/ eating places/ shops and very easy to get around. Edinburgh is a beautiful city and we felt very safe late at night walking back after the Tattoo. Planning on visiting again next year and staying at this hotel again.

    The beds were great...comfy

The bathtub was quite high stepping in and out. Had to hang on to the towel rack for support. I think some sort of bar to hang onto would be very beneficial.

Front of house staff were very friendly. Brilliant location. Nice pool. Breakfast downstairs was excellent.

No air conditioning. Room was too hot and only had a fan no AC. We couldn't open the windows due to the noise from outside. We were staying with young children over a weekend but were given a family room at the front of the hotel, which was very noisy at night. The grassmarket has lots of pubs so was very noisy until the early hours of the morning. Family rooms should be at the back of the hotel. Breakfast in the upstairs restaurant was very busy and staff were disorganised.

Location is the best in Edinburgh. Excellent castle view from hotel room. Close to live entertainment everywhere. Staff provides top rate service including the restaurant. Meals are reasonably priced & good quality food.

Street noise from all night party atmosphere makes it hard to get a good nights sleep. Hotel rates are "pricy".

the staff are as ever , charming and very helpful. Willing to help with luggage and put up with the breakfast rush 'with humour and patience'

Our room was 'upgraded' which I think means it overlooks the castle , which it did . However on opening the window onto the balcony we were disappointed to find that no effort had been made to 'prettify' the area and it was rather seedy. As was the interior of cupboards which needed a coat of paint.
