Bathroom/shower awkward to get in and out of—and possibly dangerous. Hallways a bit dingy. One tiny bar of soap for two people. No clock or waste bin in room. A bit cramped.
Good location close to pubs and restaurants
No auto or rotating entrance door. Two sets of stairs to get to reception and lifts. Short staffed. Not well organised for the number of people coming for the Ryder Cup.
Lacked quiet lounge area, could not find way into swimming pool
Location, staff, breakfast
Friendly helpful staff, great location, room was spotlessly clean and decor was nice
Bed was bit soft for my liking
Very nice location, close to everything with superb view on the castle. Great bed! I have such a nice sleep, very Confortable. Staffs are very welcoming and helpful, always a smile and ready to help. Great experience!
Everithing was excellent from Stuff in Hotel,location,....etc.
Lovely friendly and knowledgeable staff Location Huge, super comfy beds and feather quilts and pillows Huge TV Spotless Bath and shower Plenty of tea, water and coffee Lovely late check out
Had to leave too soon
The staff was friendly and accommodating.
We asked for a wake up call which never came. There were 3 of us in the room and we were only given 2 cups. Also we were there for 4 days and the tea/sugar/coffee were never refilled, we had to request more.
Position View Breakfasts Rooms
unfriendly incompetent staff, messy breakfasttables, no bread refill, dirty bathrooms with mould in shower and around window frames in room.
Good location and great view of the castle. Very friendly staff. Large room with two very comfortable king size beds. Large TV. Great pool too.
Rooms were very hot, even with windows open. Since windows were open the front street was quite noisy till early morning.
View of Edinburgh Castle Balcony
Nothing to dislike
hotel location perfect had a great view of the castle special thanks to Manuel and Lucy for looking after us so well.
Everything in the hotel was good for us and the fact that there was a bus stop and eating places across the road was a bonus.
I was told there was a bath & shower ,but there was only a shower. As I am disabled it was right for me but not for my companion who likes a bath.
Restaurant menu a bit limited.
Everything was nice... its worth a stay
Parking should be free
Great and helpful staff, very good facilities and great location
My husband was on crutches, the access to the reception desk was impossible. There needs to be a re-think about the design of the lower levels..bars etc
The staff on the reception particularly the gentleman who was very helpful in giving us advice on the different local buses and times .
Room not ready for check in at 2.30 had to wait until after 3pm until the cleaners had finished.
our stay was ok had a great view was very comfortable and clean
we had a party of 4 and we only had towels for two . cups . glasses. and tea making facilities for two . no shower grip in the shower so my sister could not have a shower she is a big lady so she has to have shower .
Despite being at the height of the Festival, the hotel ran perfectly and the staff were friendly and responsive. The hotel turns over its function rooms to the festival and you can even print out your tickets there. Rooms are large and quieter facing the rear - rooms with the terrific castle view are at a premium price. Modern bathrooms but shower only. Large beds. Breakfast is good at extra cost. And all this right on Grassmarket with parking if you need it.
Price hike in the festival! Room furniture was tired on our first visit some years ago and is unchanged.... No aircon which is not needed in this city but the windows can be hard to open more than a bit.
location next to Edinburgh Castle
1.very noisy until 3:30am on consecutive nights. Whilst double glazed, soundproofingis prety non existent 2 Bath had a number of black hairs in it so not clean 3 We paid for 4 people and yet bathroom supplies were for one person 4. We had to queue for breakfast, and a lengthy wait at Reception when seekig a carpark pass 5. Falls some way short of a 4 star experience
