We arrived and were booked in quickly by friendly reception staff. My son was given a free kiddy goodie bag and we were told we were given a free complimentary upgrade. We arrived at the room and when we opened the door we were met with a fantastic double double superior room with all mod cons, complimentary toiletries, plus little goodies such as jellybeans as well as three bottles of water chilled in a little fridge!then the nicest surprise was the balcony style ceiling to floor window with an amazing view onto the grassmarket square and Edinburgh castle!the room was the best I've stayed in yet and I've been to numerous hotels etc including big chains such as the raddison.the only disappointments were that we wanted to dine in the roof top restaurant but were told at check in that it was fully booked,we tried to eat at the groud floor restaurant and we stood for 5 or 10 mins and were completely ignored even though there was only 1 table dining and 2 members of staff!we left and found an italian restaurant directly across the road and were glad because the service and food were first class!oh and the next morning we ate our breakfast at the rooftop restaurant at the hotel which was delicious!!there was no idea of choice that hadn't been thought of here!they catered for all tastes and the views of the castle were stunning!!all in all we were delighted with our stay and we will defo be back!!!

I took my husband to this hotel for a long weekend on an account of it being his 40th birthday and the hotel kindly provided two complementary drinks. We had a fantastic time and was so impressed by the standard and quality of this hotel. I will be highly recommending this hotel to friends and family, In saying that a sibling of mine plans to travel to Edinburgh later on this year and I have strongly advised him on booking this hotel through booking.com For the price, it would have added great value to have the breakfast included in the price

The staff was very helpful and friendly. They were very patient with my two very noisy grandsons. The location is great for sightseeing in Edinburgh and the hotel is very nice. It was a very enjoyable trip and my grandsons preferred the swimming pool to Edinburgh zoo! The only negative thing I can comment on is that I was not aware that the children ate free until I was checking out. If I had known that i would have eaten in the main restaurant at lunchtime and evening.

Great location, nice breakfast, nice bar/restaurant! Bathroom lighting was appalling, no window or ventilation in the bathroom! The so-called sauna was not working and the pool area is very limited, no space to sit/relax at all (two deckchairs, wherer there could be at least 5 or 6)! Don't book this hotel (like we did) if you want a nice sauna/pool!! The rest is nice!

We liked the location as it was near to everything in the city centre. We loved the view of the castle from our room, we liked the little touches in the room like the bottled water in the fridge, the sweets and biscuits and the luxury toiletries. The swimming pool was very nice. We did think that the bathroom could do with a couple more hooks to hang the towells on after they had been used and the shower needed a bit more water pressure as the water did not come out very fast!

Very helpful reception staff. Clean, light room. Thoughtful touches like providing a bathmat and rubber duck as well as a cot (crib). Great Location. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel if it wasn't for an uncomfortable bed. An uncomfortable, cheap mattress (we were constantly rolling together during the night) and an icy draught from a window that wouldn't close spoilt an otherwise excellent room. The room had obviously been recently refurbished but there were no plug sockets by the bedside tables.

Hotel certainly caters for families and children! Unfortunately not for couples ! Had breakfast at the hotel for two days, unfortunately the restaurant was understaffed and had too many noisy children not properly supervised by their parents. polite notices to parents to control their children would make the stay more pleasurable.

The sauna/tropicarium was cold! The fire alarm went off at 4am, this was handled appallingly, I would hate to think what the outcome would have been if the fire was more serious - half the hotel never even evacuated, we were left standing on the street in the bitter cold for 40 minutes!!

Big, comfortable room overlooking the Edinburgh castle, lovely bathroom with luxury mini toiletries plus bathrobes and slippers. Also, the staff were very friendly and willing to help which was especially great when we were able to check in early. The only issue was that one of the reasons we had booked the hotel was because of the promise of a rooftop restaurant overlooking the castle. We were disappointed to find that on our arrival, signs and notices indicated that the restaurant was out of action as it was being refurbished. Had we been given this information prior to booking the hotel, we may have gone elsewhere.
