Hotel -staff-didning-gardens- conservatory views- and facilities.
Staff were polite and welcoming, food was of a high standard, rooms were spacious and comfortable with good quality bed linen. Gardens were lovely with lots of colourful containers and roses.
Were not able to get wifi in our room. We did notify reception twice and they said someone would come to our room, which they never did. As we were travelling from overseas, we were unable to contact family at home unless we went to the lounge. This hotel is not cheap, so therefore you expect the wifi to work everywhere in the hotel, and if they say they are going to sort something out, then they must keep their word.
Easy check in Helpful but discreet staff Comfortable room Wonderful peaceful grounds Tasty breakfast
Would have liked bathrobes in the deluxe room and also a fridge..it was hot when we stayed and would have enjoyed chilled water at night. Another minor gripe ..lack of sockets near my dressing table mirror.
Beautiful setting. Garden lovely. Good base for exploring.
easy to book in -helpful advice - comfortable room - quiet
breakfast but i made a bad choice
Beautiful hotel, rooms etc very welcoming
Our shower didn't work and it flooded the bathroom. We told a member of staff we needed a couple more towels because we soaked up the weather and he was , very nice and said no problem and thank you for telling them. Unfortunately nothing was done and we made do with the dry towels we had. Everything else was fine.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. My room had 2 comfortable armchairs The food was tasty and well presented
Sauna and steam bath were not fully functional. Bar area lacked background music so extremely quiet for guests enjoying evening drinks.
We really liked our spacious room with French windows out onto our own patio area and the gardens. Meal in the restaurant was superb - really very high quality indeed and the wine matching was excellent! ( we had eaten in a Michelin star restaurant in France the previous week - and the food at Appleby Manor compared very favourably!) Breakfast choice was extensive and cooked to perfection! Staff were very pleasant and attentive and there are a lot of nice touches that make this hotel special e.g. the amusing books on each table at breakfast!
Nothing really ......perhaps a plumper pillow would have been nice.
Food was very good.
Wifi was intermittent at best.
The room was excellent, furnishings exactly as they should be. The food superb, we had both an evening meal and breakfast and both were of a very high standard. We couldn't fault the hotel and are keen to return for a longer stay soon. The staff were most obliging and helpful. Even the rain was pleasant as we had coffee in the conservatory, it was most therapeutic
Very peaceful, will definitely return. Lots of activities available and the food was excellent.
We were in the extension and there is no WiFi but perhaps that's not a bad thing.
Nice white soft bath towels. Nice toiletries. Friendly helpful staff. Good food. Warm rooms. Nice little pool. Lovely room, ready for upgrade, but lovely view. plenty hot water, very important after wet day walking!
Beer, drinks, wine very expensive. Food lovely but quite pricey for what you got. Jacquizzi out of order, shame as looking forward to that, especially after a day walking, was part of the appeal of choosing the hotel, so a bit disappointed. Shame it was so expensive to have a drink would have liked to have enjoyed the conservatory more but as drinks so expensive we went out!
We enjoyed the peace and wonderful service offered by all the staff.Nothing was too much trouble. We will see you soon .
Excellent service and great food
Location. Good views. Good access.Relaxing and comfortable
Quiet dining room. Might benefit from background music.
Peace and Tranquillity of the location although close to the A66 could not here it. and the views were stunning. The food in the Bistro was excellent
liked the comfort of the hotel was a bit quiet but it was during the week. the staff were all very friendly apart from missing our morning call on the first morning overall we had a very enjoyable stay would come again
i found the bathroom in need of a bit of an update the enamel that had been painted on the bath was peeling off. could have done with more fish on both menus.
It is always nice to visit this hotel
We stayed for one night. the hotel is a beautiful old building and has lovely views. The leisure area is very clean with a lovely plunge pool and hot tub. The staff were friendly. The open fires were very welcoming. We would recommend the Bistro for dinner the food was delicious.
The Bistro was a little bright and plain. But everything was great
The hotel is magnificent, It has loads of charm. All the rooms, lounges etc were of the highest standard. Staff were very attentive, Restaurants (2) were great and the service was excellent. We got a complimentary upgrade on the room. We actually both ended up ill on the second day of 4 days so didn't get to enjoy the hotel as much as we would have liked. Sure the hotel would consider sending a free pass to stay again. (Live in hope). We will go back again and we urge anybody else to try this 1st class hotel
Staff were superb food in the bistro was lovely lovely lounge area to have a drink and chill lovely views breakfast was lovely
Really picky I know but no spare plug sockets near the bed (to charge my phone and Mac)
Friendly, efficient staff The hotel itself; décor and facilities
Poor TV reception (didn't bother us that much though). Paid over the odds through Booking.com. Should have phone the hotel itself as they had winter offers on.
Wonderful warm atmosphere from very large open log fires. Communal games room and separate lounge. Well kept grounds. Superb hotel will visit again and recommend to everyone who will listen.
Coming home again after a short stay.
Everything about our stay from the welcome when we arrived and the way the staff made us feel special. We were upgraded to the Heelis Suite which was amazing.
