This luxury 31 bedroom country house hotel, on the edge of the Lake District National Park and close to Penrith, has been completely refurbished in the last 5 years.

Appleby Manor is the perfect base from which to explore the Lake District National Park (12 miles), the North Yorkshire Dales (25 miles) and the Pennines (4 miles).

The area boasts easy access to a number of local attractions, including Eden Ostrich World, Weatheriggs steam-powered country pottery, Trotters Animal World, Settle-Carlisle scenic railway, Wensleydale cheese factory, Hadrian's Wall and Ullswater lake cruises.

Travel information

From the North:
- Take the M6.
- Exit at junction 40.
- Join the A66 towards Brough.
- Take the Appleby turn-off and turn right immediately.
- Follow road for half a mile.

From the East:
- Take the A1 (Scotch Corner).
- Join the follow A66 towards Penrith.
- Take the Appleby turn-off.
- Follow road for two-thirds of a mile.
- Take the first right.
- Take the second left.
- Follow the road for a quarter of a mile.

From the South:
- Take the M6.
- Exit at junction 38.
- Take the B6260 to Appleby.
- Drive through the town to a T-Junction; turn left.
- Take the first right.
- Follow road for two thirds of a mile.

Important information

Due to emergency maintenance work, the hotel's swimming pool will be closed from 16 - 29 January 2009. The sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and solarium will still be available for use.
