The staff were exceptional. One gentleman in particular, whose name I unfortunately do not know to thank him personally, was extremely kind to us when our hired car option fell through on Easter Sunday because the owner of the business did not turn up. He went out of his way to provide us with information on what trains were running and the timings, and let us use the telephone at the Villa to make calls. We were very impressed with this excellent service, which went beyond our expectations. Thank you. The only criticism I would have is that our room (15) and bathroom were extremely small, and therefore that the price we paid for it was too high.

We stayed here mid week for a short break during Easter. The food in JR's restaurant was absolutely delicious, our room was extremely comfortable and had everything that we needed plus more, jacuzzi bath and heated floor, dressing gowns, ipod dock. The staff were very friendly and always happy to help. We enjoyed our stay that much we are going back again in August.

We stayed at Applegarth for four nights as a mini Easter break and loved it. The breakfast was lovely and the staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. We loved the actual building itself and the gorgeous public spaces too. Applegarth is really easy to find- straight off the main road to Windermere. It was within walking distance of the whole of the town and was great to easily pop out for dinner in the evening. We stayed in room 15 which had a very small bathroom with shower- it was perfectly done for its size and had all the facilities we needed, it's just that its physical footprint was about the size of a single bed. We also found our double bed's mattress was quite hard and I woke up with back ache on a couple of mornings.

A family run hotel with great attention to detail, friendly service and relaxing. Nothing seemed too much trouble. In an old and imposing Victorian villa external and significant internal features have been conserved very carefully but bedrooms are modern and individually designed. Someone has a good eye for design. There is a very good breakfast selection and evening dinner menu. Delicious meals. The hotel sits just behind the main shopping street of Windermere and a very short walk from the railway station. I will certainly book again. This hotel was a real find. For those with severe mobility problems, this old Villa does not have a lift.

Very good situation only 5 minutes from railway station. Beautiful room overlooking fells with windows you could open as it was a very hot day. Excellent bathroom with bath and shower and very comfortable bed. Very easy to get down to Bowness - just turn left outside the hotel

A beautiful house with a great story and history. Our room was beautiful with a very modern bathroom, I am sure everyone comments on it as it is very unexpected. Very comfortable stay, with a good bar and restaurant. The weather....It rained....I would love to go back when it is sunny.

The Villa is a fantastic building with an interesting history and has been recently refurbished to very high standards, with all the rooms decorated in a modern Luxe style that some high end hotels would be envious about. We have been staying at the Villa for the past 5 years now and the owners are committed to constant improvement and providing excellent standards throughout. (It is justifiably 5* rated). They employ a top rate chef who provides excellent meals at a reasonable price. It is located in an ideal place in Windermere just away from the main road and therefore quiet, with great views and ample car parking space. This is a great place to stay and made even more special by the owners Alan and Suzanne who are very congenial and welcoming. We have never been disappointed at the Villa and always look forward to when we can visit again. If you appreciate quality then this is the place to visit – If I was you I’d check their website out.

Great room, whole property nicely updated Food service overly formal. Would be better off with a more casual approach to diner. Dinner experience did not match the excellent facilities. Eat dinner somewhere else.

Applegarth Villa is well located in a quiet part of Windermere village, with lovely views across the hills. Located in a beautiful old home, the Villa has beautifully appointed, immaculately presented luxury rooms. The rooms are spacious and the standard of finish is very high indeed. Applegarth's staff are very friendly and efficient and we found all service in the restaurant, breakfast room and the lovely old bar to be excellent. Breakfasts are of a high standard and there are lots of comfy spots to relax within the Villa and its grounds. Parking facilities are excellent as is walking access to excellent nearby restaurants.

A warm and friendly welcome. Room was clean and well designed. Delicious breakfast with plenty to choose from. Beautiful hotel. Although our room was lovely, it was a little on the small side and the pillows were a little bit too hard for us.

the room number 10 assigned to us was excellent. recently renovated and tastefully designed with modern fixtures. we're very happy with the room. breakfast was good, service was good as well. we'll stay here again. the only complain is that there isn't an elevator at the hotel and guests must lug their luggages upstairs.
