nothing to dislike

The hotel was in a great location in the town, rooms and especially the bathrooms was AMAZING!! Staff were really friendly. We had a fantastic relazing break and would definitely come again - this time in the fantastic new suite that we were allowed a sneeky peek around :-)

the hotel was clean and well presented. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making our stay enjoyable. We had a meal on our first night , it was excellent and would highly recommend trying it out.

We only stayed for a couple of nights in room 15. We found the bathroom was far too small and cramped.

Very comfortable, great atmosphere, delicious food.

A tiny fridge in my room would have been great, but not very necessary.

The location was excellent for the shops, cafes and bars located in Windermere itself. The Hotel itself had an impressive internal decorative finish and had a relaxing / chilled out bar area. The waiting staff were polite and friendly and extremely helpful. There was a wide choice for breakfast as well as for the evening meal and could not fault the quality of the food. My husband and I stayed in room 11 which was beautifully appointed and the en-suite was stunning. My mother-in-law and father-in-law were in room 5, and though disappointed slightly in the size of the room, the decor and finish was excellent.

There was nothing we did not like about the Applegarth Villa and will definitely stay here again.

The staff were exceptional. One gentleman in particular, whose name I unfortunately do not know to thank him personally, was extremely kind to us when our hired car option fell through on Easter Sunday because the owner of the business did not turn up. He went out of his way to provide us with information on what trains were running and the timings, and let us use the telephone at the Villa to make calls. We were very impressed with this excellent service, which went beyond our expectations. Thank you.

The only criticism I would have is that our room (15) and bathroom were extremely small, and therefore that the price we paid for it was too high.

Very warm and friendly, comfortable relaxed atmosphere,excellent restaurant. We were made very welcome on passing through the door until leaving without being intruded upon.

We stayed here mid week for a short break during Easter. The food in JR's restaurant was absolutely delicious, our room was extremely comfortable and had everything that we needed plus more, jacuzzi bath and heated floor, dressing gowns, ipod dock. The staff were very friendly and always happy to help. We enjoyed our stay that much we are going back again in August.

We stayed at Applegarth for four nights as a mini Easter break and loved it. The breakfast was lovely and the staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. We loved the actual building itself and the gorgeous public spaces too. Applegarth is really easy to find- straight off the main road to Windermere. It was within walking distance of the whole of the town and was great to easily pop out for dinner in the evening.

We stayed in room 15 which had a very small bathroom with shower- it was perfectly done for its size and had all the facilities we needed, it's just that its physical footprint was about the size of a single bed. We also found our double bed's mattress was quite hard and I woke up with back ache on a couple of mornings.

Stayed in room 11, for us the bath water was not hot enough.

The room was beautiful and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and the decor was fantastic. The manager and staff were very welcoming and kind. Definitely recommended. We'll definitely go back!

My only complaint about the room we stayed in (room 18) was the smell. It's located below ground level and there was a distinct smell of damp. I would advise anyone staying in the hotel to select a room on the first or second levels.

The breakfast was excellent and restaurant staff very attentive.

The room was very small. Bed made up daily but carpet not vacuumed during our stay. Not really a 5 star facility - not even shown to our room on arrival.

Room size was spacious and the cleanliness of the hotel was overexpected. We were very satisfied.

Firstly, the sign of entrance is quite small that make us confusion to entry. Secondly, hot water and the heating in the room was underexpected. It wasn't good enough for the big room with the huge bath tub. Moreover, the breakfast time of the hotel was very disappointted. It was too late for the tourist. It should provide a bit early around 7 am to 8.30am. Finally, the hotel should provide the slipper to any guests who stay in thier hotel as well.
