ambience,location and unique features
Wifi connection to room 4 , Fine on the ground floor
Great atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, beautiful decor. Amazing food.
Room number 5 is beautiful Lovely interiors Stylish Good breakfast
Contrasting food offering and lack of staff training, champagne was served in a wine glass and poured to leave it flat. The plates were hotter than the food, the staff on check out were tardy. Do stay, don't eat.
Dinner was excellent
Breakfast was fairly limited
Unusual décor, nice bar area, comfortable bed.
Single room is a little compact.
The great room, with tin/pewter bath, roll top bed and archangel on the wall!
Odd check in process, wasn't sure where reception was, when I found someone she left me standing outside the office door unsure what to do?
friendly , very helpfull staff. very good food. good location for coach travell.
room two shower definataly not for large or elderly folk! no night staff for emergencies.
Food & Drink service in the bar was excellent, outside courtyard was lovely & lively. 4 **** Dinner of Beignets & Guinea Fowl. Room was OK but needing some tlc. Read on..
Everyone's commented on the parking, not a problem if 'front of house'.. ie barperson/ concierge/.. tells one where to park.. Courtyard bedrooms a nightmare if you want some sleep.. Check-in was a little 'Fawlty'..no offer of newspaper.. TV didn't work.. Breakfast service was slapdash.. Chef/Landlord is wonderful, but let down woefully by his staff, IMHO. I won't go on.. I want to love this place, but it has to figure itself out..management needs to also..
Excellent staff and food was amazing. Building had character, was a little noisy at night but nothing unbearable.
WiFi was a bit dodgy. Frome itself, doesn't have much else going on.
The location was very good. The staff very friendly and helpful.
Our room was in the courtyard and we were woken very early every morning when deliveries arrived in the car park backing on to the block for the shops next door.
Loved the hotel, the rooms, the vibe and the breakfast!
Baths are a nice touch
Floorboards that creak and wake you up as other people leave and enter rooms. Sloped ceilings means crawling to get in and out of bed and not being able to stand up to go to toilet.
Staff were friendly, the main building quirky and nicely updated with comfortable and individual seating areas. Contemporary decor but with all the old interesting building incorporated well.Good location.
Room 7 in the courtyard. Very claustrophobic, no outside view, windows that were opaque and opened a inch for air. Carpet very stained. Shower and toilet in cuboard in room, doors to it very noisy. Heard every noise from room next door. Very noisy early morning from Iceland supermarket At the back. Food OK, limited choice. There was a chicken dish, as a starter or a main. My husband chose for his main. The waitress advised against as she said very small portion. It was, 6 small bite sizes pieces under a mound of salad leaves, disappointing.
The bath The bed
Far too noisy when trying to sleep, can hear everything going on downstairs! Got hardly any hours sleep. Tv didnt play DVD
Staff were very friendly and efficient - very hardworking - seemed to be on duty 24/7 Room in the courtyard was lovely - massive bed, good powerful shower, the tea and coffee facilities were brilliant, free coke, water and milk in the fridge and nice towelling dressing gowns Other reviewers have said it was noisy but we didn't find it to be so and they were strict about locking the doors so that people weren't allowed in the courtyard smoking after 11
Loverly room, great staff, pleasant place to stay
No parking was an issue. The bath in the bedroom was a novel idea, but option shower would have been nice.
Lack of sleep
Friendliest & best service we have had in a long time!! Everything about the stay stood out by miles. Have recommended to all family & friends & will definitely be back. Thank you!!
Everyone seemed to really enjoy working at Archangel and it showed in their amazing service towards us as guests. The beds were so wonderful and comfortable and everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Xxx
Rooms in the main hotel looked to be of a good standard.
Courtyard rooms actually front onto the beer garden come smoking area.To enter your room you have to pass through customers in the beer garden, who have a full view of your room as you open the door. The rooms are comfortable but very noisy due to their location. Our room was number 8 which backed onto Iceland's store, which added to a poor nights sleep as they had a delivery at 6.15 in the morning.Along with the beer garden not closing until nearly midnight this lead to a very frustrating stay.Breakfast was acceptable when it actually arrived we were told this was due to the gas being turned off!!!Think chef turned in late.Last but not least we were not told that the hotel only had 2 car parking spaces and had to pay for our own parking in an unsecure car park.
Very beautiful hotel!
Unfortunately I stayed in the hotela nnight where there was a party and the music was so loud. I couldn't shut the windows because the room was boiling hot. Not a big problem other than I needed to be up early and I traveled quiet far to get to frome so very tired anyway. Although I will be staying again :)
The hotel was unique given its historic feel with an informal and friendly atmosphere. We only stayed the one night prior to a wedding. Everyone was extremely helpful including a late change to arrangements and booking a hair dressing appointment for my partner prior to the wedding. The town of Frome is beautiful, as are its people, with a friendly reception wherever you go. I recommend the hotel and Frome.
The room was located close to a branch of Iceland and the delivery during the week was noisy in the early hour of the morning. The walls of the room was thin enough to hear conversation from the next door tenant.
We liked the tea bags, central location, comfy bed, nice decor
The toilet brush was filthy, the bar was noisy as the courtyard was full of people at 11pm, no parking so had to pay in another car park, breakfast was lacking in flavour, shower was hot and cold, rooms were pokey.
