Ardencaple Hotel  

Friendly hotel, good service, close to Faslane where the re-union was held.

A warm welcome, comfortable well decorated bed room with a great view. Excellent breakfast, good value meals available. Very helpful and friendly staff. Will definately return.

The main plus for this hotel is that the staff are very friendly and accomodating. The staff could'nt do enough to make your stay as comfortable as it could be. Bar meals and services are excellent. 15 minute walk from town which is along the sea front so you get great views.

The only thing i would say is that the particular room that we were in was rather cold and there was a strong smell of dampness. there were electric heaters in the room which should maybe have been switched on before our arrival as we did not get there until 19:00. That said i did get the chance to enter a few other rooms that did not have the same problem.

The improvement to the standard of the rooms since our stay in 2010.We went hoping there would be an improvement and were most impressed by the updated bedroom. The Meal Deals have always been very good.

I have stayed B&B at many hotels around the world. Some have been good and some have been bad, but the bad ones paled into insignificance compared to Ardencaple. From the outside I knew that I had made a big mistake, to say it was shabby is an understatement. The paintwork was peeling and the roof looked highly suspect. Upon entry we were greeted by a smell of chips and dampness, but no receptionist, I had to go to the bar and ask for attention. We were given the keys to our room called "Dumbarton Castle", this was a bad omen as the room was probably last decorated at about the time the Castle was built. The wallpaper was damaged and peeling with evidence of water stains and black mould around the windows. The electrical equiptment was dangerous, with the hairdrier only heating up, but not blowing any air to cool it,the flex was held on by insulation tape, one wall light was out and loose on the wall. All the electrical safety stickers were 6 months out of date. The bathroom door would not open freely without sticking on the cracked tile floor. The lighting was exteremly dingy. The rest of the hotel matched up to this standard with bulbs out in the bar and dirty carpets. However the staff were great, and all did their best for us, obviously working under difficult, if not impossible, conditions. This hotel needs bulldozing.

Staff were really helpful. Comfortable recently refurbished rooms. Accomodating in the busy bar area to find a table for one.

We thought the dinnings rooms were tired and lacked atmosphere. The bedrooms were well equipped and comfertable.

The staff were very friendly and helpful but appeared to be under resourced

The huge pile of rubbish outside of bedroom window, bathroom extractor fan permanantly on, poor arrangements for dinner in the evenings for residents. Formal complaint being forwarded to hotel
