Ardencaple Hotel  

Ideal if you want a cheap stay and are not too bothered about the standard of accommodation or customer service

room very dated, dark and bathroom in state of disrepair

The Staff.

The hotel has undergone extensive renovations and they are well done. However there is a lot more to be done to make it to a 3-star hotel - I.E. Lobby, Restaurant, & Bar areas.

We thought the dinnings rooms were tired and lacked atmosphere. The bedrooms were well equipped and comfertable.

Room had recently been refurbished (except the carpet), bathroom very clean and new. Did not use resturant, but seemed popular.

Although room was good, it overlooked the road. There was little, if any, sound attenuation. Window could do with double glazing to reduce the road/traffic noice.

The facilities were of a standard I would expect to find in a hotel that charged much more! It was excellent value!!!!

Staff were really helpful. Comfortable recently refurbished rooms. Accomodating in the busy bar area to find a table for one.

Having breakfast in the morning and getting out of the place.

I have stayed B&B at many hotels around the world. Some have been good and some have been bad, but the bad ones paled into insignificance compared to Ardencaple. From the outside I knew that I had made a big mistake, to say it was shabby is an understatement. The paintwork was peeling and the roof looked highly suspect. Upon entry we were greeted by a smell of chips and dampness, but no receptionist, I had to go to the bar and ask for attention. We were given the keys to our room called "Dumbarton Castle", this was a bad omen as the room was probably last decorated at about the time the Castle was built. The wallpaper was damaged and peeling with evidence of water stains and black mould around the windows. The electrical equiptment was dangerous, with the hairdrier only heating up, but not blowing any air to cool it,the flex was held on by insulation tape, one wall light was out and loose on the wall. All the electrical safety stickers were 6 months out of date. The bathroom door would not open freely without sticking on the cracked tile floor. The lighting was exteremly dingy. The rest of the hotel matched up to this standard with bulbs out in the bar and dirty carpets. However the staff were great, and all did their best for us, obviously working under difficult, if not impossible, conditions. This hotel needs bulldozing.

Staff (especially Bridget and her friend with the little boy) were so friendly they all came out to say goodbye when we were leaving-and even made a fuss of my wee poodle ! Also,we felt so "at home"and "part of the family"! We especially loved it because it was so quiet-just what we were looking for--a lovely rest !! The food was great too,and Robert was so obliging and competent--a big thank you from us both!!

The worst thing was not being able to stay longer !!!! We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves !!!

Situato direttamente di fronte all'oceano, questo albergo non sara' di grosse pretese, ma l'accoglienza calorosa della titolare, l'ampienza delle stanze e la buona colazione rendono piacevole un breve soggiorno durante il tour

Nous avions choisi cet hôtel pour sa situation proche de Glasgow. Bon rapport qualité/prix. Une très grande chambre pour 3. Tout l'hôtel a bénéficié d'une rénovation qui en fait un bel établissement.
