Bar food well priced - pleasant location and helpful staff.
Hotel needs a complete refurbishment - bedroom furniture very old fashioned. Quite expensive for the quality.
Staff were brilliant all made us feel really welcome and comfortable great menu and great food at reasonable prices
Particularly liked the very helpful manager Jan who, when she realised we were a mature couple changed our room to ground floor one. we had a very nice meal in the evening and an excellent Breakfast the next morning, served by Jan
I had a little difficulty with the shower but it was probably me rather than the shower!
very welcoming staff and we were given a very quiet room followed by a hearty breakfast each morning.
The staff were very friendly and service good.
It was in need of a manager update, the bedrooms are certainly not welcoming. We had a front bedroom overlooking a loch but the noise from cars made sleep very difficult.
We loved everything about our stay. The hotel is ideally situated for great views day and night. The staff are very welcoming and always helpful. The hotel is always very clean both in public areas and the bedrooms. The food is exceptional. We have stayed here a few times and we will be staying again and again. We love it
Good parking space. Good food Friendly staff comfortable room
Staff was very friendly and helpful, room was lovely and big, the food was excellent, lovely view from the room and decent sized bathroom
Climbing the stairs,
I liked everything about this hotel except one thing. The staff were fantastic, they went out off their way to see that my wife and myself had the best. The manager Angie was amazing and anything we needed she went out of her way to come over to talk to us and other guests, not something you would see in a big swanky hotel.
I didn't like that I was staying in a hotel in rural Scotland and I got offered an English breakfast. I felt that this was a bit off an insult especially when I was told it was because it was run by a British company. so is Scotland not British, if I went to a hotel in england would I be offered a full Scottish, when in rome do as the romans do, play fair.
The place was very clean and comfortable. Good variety of simple pub grub well presented by very friendly staff
The place was a bit short of staff at times but they still did a great job looking after us
Liked everything except .....
No wifi? It said join the cloud but with no wifi this was not possible. A real inconvenience. Noise from the busy road could be cured by sealed double glazed units.
The welcome of the staff The location and sea views The traditional building, character and size of rooms Excellent breakfast served with good cheer Value for money - not expensive so as long as you have realistic expectations, this is good value and clearly well run (ie if you want 5 star, then book into a 5 star hotel!)
Bar/lounge decor and slight smell of fried food at peak serving time - perhaps due to extractors in the kitchen One-ply toilet paper :)
Very friendly, attentive staff who where happy to help with our needs.Relaxed atmosphere. Even though there was a 60th birthday party going on in the hotel we could not hear any noise.
the Mattress of the Pull out spare single bed was a little bit lumpy (you could feel the springs poking through) I do appreciate it is probably very rarely used so this is just an observation not a complaint !
Friendly staff, Lovely views, great location. Food was very nice. Lovely, clean comfortable room, everything worked. Would definitely stay again.
Nothing at all.
Comfortable, everything in room was useful, safe for my elderly mother
Slight road noise
noisy uncomfortable bed springs
Staff friendliness, quaint. would look forward to staying again.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. A special mention must go to Bridget the duty manager she instantly made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Both evening meals and breakfast were excellent quality as was the friendly service.
The lighting was not the best
Nice location, on Gare Loch - and lovely staff. This was good value stay, close to Helensburgh amenities, with easy access to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs.
The room needed decoration, and the whole property would benefit from some spending.
The whole experiance
Location Friendly and helpful staff Reasonably priced food and drink
Busy road between hotel and loch shore.
Bridget and all the staff were very friendly...They went out of their way to make sure that our stay was pleasant and comfortable..We would certainly book at the Ardencaple again. The food was excellent.
The only draw back for me..was climbing the spiral staircase..that was because Ihave Arthritis. .This did not detract from the enjoyment of our stay..I coped..
staff were excellent
the accommodation is in very poor state, wallpaper falling off of the ceiling, dark, unappealing woodwork, very dated decor
