Best Western Ardsley House Hotel  

We arrrived to a very friendly reception by a bright, cheerful, friendly and very helpful young lady at the Reception Desk. Our details had been noted and the room allocated. We were easily made welcome. Later we found the whol;e of the Reception front just as welcoming and helpful. The hotel is fortunate to have a superb, gifted, Head Chef and Catering team. We enjoyed a delicious, nicely presented and well served evening meal in the Lounge Bar, then next night enjoyed the Dinner at the main function, whiich was equally as good. The Function was held in one of the excellent large rooms, which allowed our 133 guests to be easily seated around a nice dance area, all with a good view of the stage.Again the catering team excelled. The large swimming pool and gym are very good. We did not use the Sauna or Jacuzzi, biut would on a future visit. The entire management and staff impressed withn their cheerful impression of being glad to see us and to be our hosts. It was generally felt by all of our friends. A bonus is the huge, secure, car park, and the easy, short, walk to a bus stop, with the very efficient Barnsley public buses on a regular schedule. There is a very efficient Town Centre Terminal. Very well recommended. We look forward to the next stay.

Nothing, except not enough time there!

The hotel did not have our booking. when we arrived they told us that no rooms had been booked. I booked for 4 colleagues. On departure the hotel tried to charge £100 per room not the agreed booking price.

Quiet, professional and dog-friendly

Bed v- hardest i've ever slept on - in an executive room, decor dated, food choice in restaraunt poor

Bed was very lumpy and half the springs were gone. The whole hotel needs updating.

Friendly staff, pleasant restaurant and a quiet room. Very comfy bed.

Whilst waiting for family to pick us up it would have been nice to sit in the sun at the front of the hotel but no seating. Just a suggestion.

Some staff were very very rude. Breakfast was not of a high standard

The hotel is tired but the rate was excellent and the room was comfortable. The staff are good and the breakfast was one of the best I have had anywhere and I stay in a lot of hotels around the UK.Not a buffet, freshly cooked to order, a rarity these days ! Free wifi for 90 mins, it has a pool etc but I had no time for this. For a business hotel this was good,functional and comfortable.

Very friendly hotel staff that made you feel welcome on arrival and nothing seemed too much trouble.Nice room with comfortable beds.Good breakfast overlooking the gardens.Very convenient as we were visiting friends in the area.Will visit again if we are in the area

Main light not working in bedroom. No hand towel As only staying one night did not bother to complain

Rattling bathroom fan and abrupt waiter during breakfast.

The bar food/room service was very good in general - did have to return a steak when it came well done after asking for it medium, but when it came back it was lovely. And breakfast was amazing. Staff all really friendly and helpful.

The mattress on the bed . . . It felt like springs with a sheetcloth thrown over.
