I have stayed at this hotel a few times and it is friendly and comfortable and has a little character. The food is very good and the staff are very friendly. I will stay again when next in the area

The hotel did not have our booking. when we arrived they told us that no rooms had been booked. I booked for 4 colleagues. On departure the hotel tried to charge £100 per room not the agreed booking price.

In my honest opinion I was not impressed at all. The room smelt of smoke when we went in. The bed was broken and the whole room including the bathroom was not very clean.

Room 40 Bed nearest window: mattress old and so soggy, it was like a crevasse. Sleepless night. Reported matter to the Reception, advised her to instruct housekeeper to change mattress and suggested a waste bin should be placed in the bathroom. I received an apology, but have to say I, I was hoping for slightly more!!!

The bar food/room service was very good in general - did have to return a steak when it came well done after asking for it medium, but when it came back it was lovely. And breakfast was amazing. Staff all really friendly and helpful. The mattress on the bed . . . It felt like springs with a sheetcloth thrown over.

Very comfy beds were a pleasant surprise, together with the use of the leisure facilities. Good value for money compared to the likes of Premier Inns etc. Service in the restaurant was very poor - you got the feeling they were trying to round up the cattle before cooking the steak! Very pretentious maitre'de, but other staff were very friendly. Rather dated nature of furnishings and fixtures reflected in the price, and bathroom sink had more cracks than a patio of crazy paving. Pity that breakfast was not included, but at £11 extra we decided to give it a miss

The length of the swimming pool 2 weddings going on, which rather swamped the hotel (but there is a good value restaurant across the road). One of the stair wells was 'musty'. £10 for breakfast is expensive. Tea tray not prepared properly for second day (tea-pot unemptied, serviette not renewed)

Friendly staff, pleasant restaurant and a quiet room. Very comfy bed. Whilst waiting for family to pick us up it would have been nice to sit in the sun at the front of the hotel but no seating. Just a suggestion.

I attended a wedding at the hotel so it was lovely to be able to stay there aswell. I had come down from Scotland and didn't know the area so would have found it very difficult if I had to stay elsewhere.

Price In desperate need of an upgrade, breakfast not as generous as it used to be, first room offered dingy and noisy, second room very warm and over the bar where the wedding reception was being held.

Very friendly staff, we stayed just one night but you could use all the facilities as if you were staying for a week. Food was excelent even did a request for my husband that was not on the menu. Just one complaint the room was too hot as the heating was on. So we slept on top of the bed!!

I loved being able to sit and read in the sunny conservatory. The pool was good and the beauty treatments were available until 9pm and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere was comfortable, room was nice and food was good. Very impressed.

The hotel is tired but the rate was excellent and the room was comfortable. The staff are good and the breakfast was one of the best I have had anywhere and I stay in a lot of hotels around the UK.Not a buffet, freshly cooked to order, a rarity these days ! Free wifi for 90 mins, it has a pool etc but I had no time for this. For a business hotel this was good, functional and comfortable.
