Cheap and cheerful, friendly helpful staff
Lovely big room Lovely shower The staff who were left (as the hotel was closing ) very professional willing and helpful and friendly despite tricky times for them. It was the last few days of opening. A sad loss to local community for jobs as well as leisure-health club.
Not being able to swim due to lack of staff! Didn't like the tea or thick cups No glass in room but I have no doubt one would have been provided had I asked. See comment re staff.
I will be honest this Hotel needs updating
The free Wi-fi was a complete waste of time, the carpet in my room (20)was full of horrible stains. I would not be going back soon.
Absolutely disgusting. Filthy bedspread, filthy carpet, 70s decor. The Hotel closes for good on the 18th July. We will not use you again due to you allowing us to book such an awful establishment. We asked to be moved but they said they didn't have anything better to give us!!!!
Heaps of off street parking. Everything is on site.
The showers were very poor.
Not a lot
We were not told it was closing in a week it was like a ghost hotel, the room was to hot and when you adorned the window there was a generator outside it. When we booked it said one room left which definitely was not true more like 30 rooms left hence not atmosphere
swimming pool room was ok
It was cheap, but there were clearly reasons for this. We only wanted a bed for the night as we were at a local wedding, and it served its purpose. The room however was massive and the staff were lovely.
It really is very tired and obviously waiting to close down. Shame coz it must have been fabulous in its day.
It smelt damp straight from in the reception. ... damp stains on our walls...dated... ignorant staff on reception as well as at the bar ... chance or recommending it to anyone is 1 in 100,000,000,000
Use of gym, swimming pool
Being charged for a night I didn't stay! Poor quality tv in rooms, Tiredness of hotel in general. Mould growing behind bedside unit and on bathroom ceiling!!
We arrived late for a wedding reception and the reception booked a taxi for us to get to the venue. On our return we were given milk and coffee as requested. very helpful.
There wasn't a lift and my partner has limited mobility, but however we managed. The décor could do with a revamp.
The receptionist and dining room staff were cheerful and efficient. The bar man was good but a bit dour.
The restaurant menu was limited and I consider 50% over-priced for such simple fare. The coffee and tea pots in the dining room were a disgrace with months old stains on them.
The bed was comfortable
We have stayed at this hotel many times when visiting friends who live in the area. Unfortunately this is the first time since 2012 and the deterioration of the hotel was quite extreme. Although the receptionist was pleasant enough the reception looked uninviting due to completely nothing displayed on the counter like, flowers or information etc. The back area looked untidy and the foyer looked like they were about to close down at any time. Everything was in darkness even though it was 3.30pm in the afternoon. No offer of help with luggage was given and when stepping into what was supposed to be an executive suite their was a large their was a large stain on the carpet and a musty smell. The whole place felt unloved and unwelcoming and we will not be returning to Ardsley House in the future which is a shame as we have had some lovely times spent there in the past.
Spacious room lovely pool and jacuzzi . Debra was very friendly and helpful, good that towels for pool were provided free of charge and a wet bag for costumes.
Changing rooms very tatty. The hotel just needs a makeover it is a beautiful place and most of the staff don't even acknowledge the guests. This is hardly surprising as morale must be rock bottom with the impending closure. Wish I had the money to do it. With a makeover and proper marketing this place could be a gold mine. There were dead flies on carpet by window in our room when we arrived and still there 4 days later when we left. Dirty towels and bath mat not replaced , but folded and put back on bath and rail. Also had to ask for glasses and only 1 cup and saucer left in room and only decaf coffee, even after I laid it out separately so they would see. Also had to ask for another toilet roll .
Staff were very friendly, efficient and nothing was too much trouble
hotel was clean, good location
we asked for a double which was 2 singles pushed together but 1 was higher than the other, 1 mattress fine but the other was awful. a big dip in the middle which you slid into without a choice and the other parts were lumpy. didnt realise this until i got into bed! no one was on reception when we left to report this to. hotel was need of new carpets in the main areas. bedroom carpet was fine though.
In need of some TLC
Bar open to residents very good, the spa and gym facilities excellent. The staff were excellent and helpful location was great for our visit.
The décor was the only thing that was not up to standard, carpets were frayed, small things in the room like no extractor fan in the bathroom, bulbs not replaced. Needs updated.
The hotel is large with nice accommodation, big rooms with ensuite ample parking ok bar with the swimming pool and jacuzzi it all works out ok
Overall the ardsley house has been too expensive . Unfortunately it is not situated close to the town Also not that good for the motorways..
the food was not very inspiring and the quality wasn't that good
Price was reasonable
Dated décor, room up three flights of stairs and no lift and mattress was terrible
carpets in lounge and reception shabby
We had the misfortune of being there while a wedding was on. We were put in a room with a sunken mattress, no Wi-Fi connection and blown light bulbs. We won't be back.
The location was good and staff helpful and friendly. Room was quiet and comfortable.
I couldn't get the free wifi to work on my laptop at all
Location and parking good, and comfy bar area.
Breakfast didn't start till 7am, restaurant till 7pm, wifi slow, pool closed, no info in rooms, tired decor, staff demoralised (as apparently expecting to close soon). It's a shame this once great hotel lacks the investment it needs to keep the few guests it attracts coming back.
