Beautiful dinner and breakfast
The old house, the gardens.
Room was cold, water was cold. Seemed to be under staffed as during breakfast the reception phone kept ringing without being answered.
The whole ambience was delightful, the staff very attentive and efficient. The dining room and our meal there were especially good.
The peace and quiet, it was soooo relaxing and the food was superb.
beautiful traditional rooms. very comfortable beds and the staff were fantastic..food and service in dining toom was First Class.would definitely go back again..
nothing negative to say
The waiter as well as the lady who welcomed us on arrival were extremely helpful and nice. The fireplace in the room. An amazing interior. Huge and beautiful garden. Nice food.
We got our bedroom on the ground floor level. Firstly, as there was a birthday party on the night of our stay, we could hear people singing at around 10pm-11pm, as they were having the party downstairs, in the dining area. Someone even tried to play the piano, around 11:30pm, and the piano was situated literally 3 metres away from our bedroom... Secondly, we could hear every step and every move of the people staying in the bedroom just above our heads, and as they were taking part in the birthday party, they didn't go to sleep until about 1 or 2am, so we were struggling to fall asleep too. Lastly, there were two taxis collecting people from that party at around midnight and later at around 1am, I think, so our bedroom from a complete darkness went to a light of a daylight because of the cars lights! Both taxis parked just in front of the windows to our bedroom. After such a bad and short night (we got up at around 7am) instead of being fresh and well-rested, we were wrecked... For a minute there in the middle of the night we were so annoyed that we've actually considering driving back home or looking for a different place to stay in, and we didn't only because we had a few drinks earlier on that evening... If we ever go back there again, and we might do, as we really liked the staff and the place in general, we will definitely ask for one of the rooms upstairs. The one downstairs should not be used as a bedroom for guests- at all.
Staff were excellent couldnt have been more helpful. Food was lovely and well presented.
Friendly and very obliging staff.
Hotel in desperate need of refurbishing.
Staff Location Ambience
Needs some TLC.
the hotel itself was superb, the rooms have the wow factor but its the staff that make it really special, you feel pampered, the whole experience was amazing.Valerie and her staff make you feel like one of the family, they are so friendly
Friendly staff Beautiful surroundings Comfortable rooms Lovely food
Excellent staff. Food was good. Quiet location away from the "world". Room comfort, excellent, bathrooms spacious.
TV access - none. Curtains did not close properly.
Welcoming staff, good food, comfortable rooms. Good value
everything - lovely welcome - staff friendly - made you feel like a friend! beautiful setting.
The staff are very nice, food was basic but ok
We got 2 single beds that had been put together to make a "luxury bed" that ended up coming apart in the middle of the night and my wife falling through the gap and hitting the floor!! Not my idea of a luxury room that advertises luxury king size beds!!
Lovely hotel, staff were extremely helpful.
Beautiful building and grounds, comfortable spacious rooms & ensuite all with period features & decor, TV and wifi, 5* service by staff and food was delicious in dinning room.
We had the most relaxing and enjoyable weekend stay at Ardtara, 14 years after we held our fantastic wedding reception there in August 2000. The House is grand, the grounds are well kept, the staff are so friendly, helpful and accommodating, the food from the restaurant is of a very high standard. I can highly recommend this venue if you want a quiet retreat spent in comfort and style.
The setting was beautiful and very relaxing & peaceful . The food was of a high standard .
The place is very tired and needs a full upgrade. We were charged Vat on our full bill when we had already played this to booking .com , so when staying double check before paying
For essentially young college going staff...they were warm ,inviting and always extremely helpful. Indeed they had the air of seasoned staff and ut never felt forced or contrived.
Liked everything! !
The bed was comfortable and the staff were courteous.
There was no key for the room and no heating on two separate occasions – once due to a fault which was fixed promptly and the second time because the heating had been turned off and, as we were the only guests staying in the hotel, no one had turned it back on again. We could not use the shower since the gauge did not work (permanently hot) and, as the bathroom was very cold, taking a bath was not a pleasant experience. Moreover, the bathroom window sills were not clean eg there was a dead fly on one of the sills. On the Sunday morning we got a phone call from reception to say that the latest time for dinner that evening was 6.30pm which spoiled our plans for that day. Later that afternoon we returned to the hotel to find that both lounges were being used by diners so we had no choice but to return to our room where there was only one chair and no internet access. Our weekend was summed up on the Monday morning when the staff member with whom we settled our bill did not even ask if we had enjoyed our stay.
Very welcoming and peaceful, all the staff were pleasant and caring, they seemed very proud of their place and it showed through in the service in both food and accomodations, loved the old world feel
Nothing to report
