Terrific location--very, very nice staff. Good job! There was a distinct smell to the room--I had to keep the bathroom door closed. The rug was also worn. It wasn't a terrible room--it was functional, but I was surprised at the rather threadbare condition given how recommended the hotel was. A very poor breakfast--I'm sorry! You need to have large water glasses, we kept pestering the poor server for many(small) glasses.

We only had breakfast but the food was very good and it was a pleasant stay. Car parking! A small, dingy alley behind the hotel which felt unsafe.

I thoroughly recommend the Argyll Hotel as a small, friendly very comfortable hotel with very great staff who go out of their way to be helpful. It is very clean and has pleasant and cheery Scottish decor themes. I have stayed there a few times now, look forward to going, and feel very 'at home' there! Its dining room is atmosperic and serves great food for breakfast and dinner. They were excellent with my special dietary requirements. I have always been very comfortable in the bedrooms (and it has a lift). It has good wi-fi, computer and printing facilities. While a short bus ride out of the city centre, I love the location , right by the excellent Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, and a very leafy park by the river. I love staying there and imagine it would suitthe needs of most types of travellers very well.

A good restaurant in the basement! Fittings in the bath are a bit old fashioned and not comfortable to use.

We paid for the 4 post bed and corner bath and it was a very nice clean room that is all I can say was good about our stay. When we first arrived we were told there was a problem with all key cards and that anytime we wanted to enter our room someone from reception would have to take us up and let us in which was a hassle as we were not planning on being in til late, also when we phoned to order food to the room we were told room service was not available.

Breakfast is about the only part of our stay i was happy with. The tv and freeview in the room did not work. The room looked nothing like those on the website. I had issues with the hotel holding my money on my card which left this unavailble to me until 1 week after i had actually stayed at the Guesthouse even though I paid with cash during my stay. When I phoved to ask for them to release my money the manager i spoke with was rude and arrogant and not at all helpful.

The satff where excellent, the room though small was well laid out with all home comforts. Cleaniless is always an issue with hotels but it was maintained the room was in need of a little T.L.C. but not causing any problems. The bar in the basement - not a freindly, inviting place. Perhaps the resturant could be better as acfe stlye with a better room service.
