Breakfast was lovely
The room was too hot but apart from that was a good visit.
The place is full of character and charm. Yes it is dated BUT It is quirky (like Marmite). We managed a really good deal for two large rooms, next to each other, comfy beds and some treats. Great Staff, good food, charming setting and facilities.
Full-on aroma of stale smoke in room 1,2,3 lobby.
Spacious and clean rooms. I also like the old style of décor and creaky floors.
I was told 20 minutes wait for food service in the bar area. After 50 minutes wait and no food, I cancelled it. There were other people also asking the whereabouts of their food. Either give customers a more realistic time to wait and/or get more kitchen staff.
Friendly staff and availability of free car park within the premises.
No lift...I was on the third floor.
location Staff breakfast comfortabel bed
Slightly run down decor
Staff had too many jobs to do which meant that service was very slow.
Comfort. Great bed. Quiet. Even though renovations were in progress.
Lift not working. Inefficient staff (2 taxi bookings -one never came, the other was 30 minutes getting here by which time we'd nearly missed our concert and certainly had no time for food - not good when a diabetic). Room showing its age. Amenities not great - no soap for starters! And no glasses, plastic or otherwise, although provided at bar on request.
Staff were excellent and helpful all the time. Nothing too much trouble. My Aunt was in a wheelchair and the room and bathroom was excellent in space for wheelchair. We loved the restaurant and food was reasonable cost and all cooked to order. The music in the restaurant was soft and enjoyable. We would definitely stay again. Bristol a lovely City.
On site parking
Its not on the outskirts of town. Hotel and room were very dated, carpets dirty, wallpaper hanging off walls, windows didnt shut properly, Lift didnt work, Bar expensive, musty old smell in all areas, manager turned tv off in lounge when people were watching it and still had dronks, other guests allowed to use the hotel like their own house, walking around in pyjamas, just dont go !!!!!
Wifi not working
TV, Wi-fi good, bed was comfortable
Building is old and in need of refurbishment. Worst of all was the noise from other rooms. I had people above who arrived around mid-night and did not settle to the early hours. The floor boards creek beyond belief keeping me awake.
The potential. Could be lovely.
In need of TLC. A comfy bed but poor nights sleep. Woken intermittently by the six aircon units on the wall outside kicking in, by the lorry at the start of the working day, but mainly by the drunken domestic dispute in the neighbouring rooms in the early hours.
Staff were friendly - one came to close my window at 1am for me as I wasn't strong enough. Reasonably quiet area. Bed was comfy enough for a good nights sleep. Cheaper than other hotel options that were available.
Very tired decor. I.e. Peeling wallpaper, lock missing from toilet door etc. in need of some renovation/tlc.
Lovely old mansion Friendly staff Well appointed Easy bus access to both Bath and Bristol Restaurant
Friendly and helpful staff - I know they are paid to be, but these guys went above and beyond the normal standard. Well positioned and easy to find. Good car parking facilities. Excellent, rather quirky building; a real mix of styles. Good breakfast in nice surroundings.
Check in (admittedly at 1 am) a little disorganised; no key for the room (we were let in with a master key), only one large towel, no coffee, none of which mattered much to us, all rectified in the morning.
I had asked for 2 single beds as it was me and my 17 year old son. They had given us a double and had to check they had a room available. The room was grotty, noisy, the bathroom floor was uneven and I lost my footing twice, lucky it didn't sprain my ankle. There was no explanation of the facilities on arrival, for example where to go for breakfast the next day. The person on the desk in the morning was not friendly or welcoming. I won't stay here again.
The bed was comfortable and the bath was nice.
The staff were not very welcoming, the room had a dead fly in it and was a little bit dirty on the carpet, breakfast was poor as the tea was watery and little breakfast portion and toast was either burnt or under done.for the price of 140 pound I feel I was very undersold to be honest.
Good location, easy to find for first-time visitor to the city. Excellent car parking. Very good customer care
Some vital facility not working, especially the lift/elevator.
Clean and spacious room , good parking , comfy beds
0ver 70 rooms , lift out of order for weeks
We liked the staff and the room was quite large, there was enough entertainment.
The shower didn't work and the hot feature did not work, the bath we used instead was temperamental and did not drain we did not receive a room service menu which we would of liked to order from, the room was situated right next to the main road and was very loud, we also got woken up early by staff even though we did not get asked for.
Bed was ok Greek waiter in restaurant was first rate
The Bar and seating was awful. Not enough choice of quality beer. What was available was over priced Food in the restaurant was very poor, in fact it wasn't even restaurant food, not even good pub food. Price was £80 without breakfast. Bathroom was shabby and the toilet was loose. Everything needs repainting or cleaning. Would be ok for contractors at £30 to £40 a night.
Staff were friendly. Hotel was in good location.
£10.00 per head for breakfast was extortionate especially as it was poor quality. We were disappointed with the way it was cooked and served. There was no variation of choice. Full English or full English, what about kippers, etc.
