Good staff, friendly faces, and you are remembered. Good breakfast , hot and well prepared Poor parking, unexciting bar food, not prepared to negotiate on bed prices for business travellers would hesitate to recommend!

Genuine friendliness and a willingness to go the 'extra mile' to ensure a good time was experienced. The quality of the room and standard of breakfast could not be faulted. We did not have occasion to use the bar or have an evening meal in. The reception arranged taxi bookings for us, and also gave us online access to reserve seatas for the return flight to Southampton. If we had stayed longer, I think the hilly access to the hotel from the seafront could have been a pain! Next time I come to the Island, I would be happy to stay at the Ascot but would try my best to secure a room with a sea view.

location was very convenient to the promenade. 2 mins walk.staff were very pleasant and most helpful. my room was so small i couldn't open my wardrobe door as it was jammed against my bed. couldn't use it at all. the tv was too far from my bed also to see it. my friends room on the other hand was enormous. so the size of the rooms are not all equal. my view was of a brick wall. an internet would have been a good inclusion to have there was none.

The staff were most friendly and couldn't do enough for me. The Ascot Hotel had a very warm ambience. The staff were so ready to make suggestions on where and how to go to the various places of interest. I would go back there again. I didn't like the rashers/bacon for breakfast, nor the sausages. The sausages were a bit in the big side and were strong flavoured. Everything else was fine. The service in the dining room was excellent.

Hotel staff were extremely friendly. Bathroom plumbing was extremely poor - shower was a dribble. No thermostatic mixer on the shower so danger of scolding for our young child. Very basic breakfast - worst kippers I've eaten on the IOM!

There was a warm welcome on arrival, the hotel was clean and well organised. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent. Staff generally very helpful. Bar: Nice layout but a little pricey. We drank at a couple of local bars simply because the bar charges at the hotel were too expensive. Nothing - it was good, we will stay at the Asacot again next time we are on the Island.

“I liked the brightness of the foyer with the bar and rest areas on both sides, giving the hotel a relaxed but still formal atmosphere. The room I stayed in was perfect for a one night business stay, couldn't ask for more, and the price included breakfast. Good value for money.” Ian, Runcorn |

“Englewood Lodgeis an exceptional B&B - worth more than its 5 star rating. Spacious, beautifully furnished bedroom, comfy bed, large ensuite with bath and shower cubicle, luxurious toileteries, wonderful view of Douglas Bay. Amazing lounge facilities with large TV, pool table, coffee machine and fridge and a sun lounge with views over the bay. Margaret, your host, is amazing. Apart from providing the 5 star breakfast, with lots of choice, she is willing to help with information about the island and anything to make your stay enjoyable. She does a fantastic evening meal on request (don't miss the Manx Queenies !) This is the place to stay on the Isle of Man - you won't find better.” Anthony, Doncaster |
