maybe the position, next to a tube station, noisy, rotten, dirty,a lot of things were broken (toilet) or simply did not work (TV, hair dryer), staff was not very comforting or helpful, as we complaines about the shortcomings they told us they would look after it, but they simply did not... |

There was nothing about the hotel that I liked! We were placed in the annex after paying in full for a supposed 3 star hotel. The staff didn't bother to show us to our room - luckily the room number was written in biro on a scrap of paper and tacked to the door. On the staircase (which obviously hadn't been decorated for years) there was an unsecured, open, glass door leading to roof below. The rooms were tiny and poorly decorated (barely large enough for a double bed. The room was so small there wasn't enough room for anywhere to put clothes or even for a shelf. The floor (both in the hotel room and in the corridor) was constantly wet from the leaking shower. We refused to go for breakfast after seeing the state of the restaurant/bar. There are too many bad points to list. I would recommend that this hotel be inspected for safety and it certainly is not a 3 star. I won't be using the hotel or booking.com again. |

The only thing I liked about this hotel was its proximity to the Paddington tube station. The staff was unbelievable. I requested several wake up calls and did not receive one until I complained about it. The excuse was complete nonsense. |

When I left. The rooms were tiny - my friend who also stayed had a kitchen unit with oven and washing machine and kitchen cabinets in her room, they were flush against her bed and she couldn't move around the room as it was so small. I had to move the bed to shut the toilet door when I used the bathroom. The bathroom was obviously refurbished which was lovely except the shower was blocked after first use so the plumber had to come and unblock it. The sheets and towels had black scuff stains on them so they obviously weren't cleaned properly, also the towels smelt very strongly of chemicals. No fan or air con which for the price was fair enough except my room backed onto Craven road and it was so noisy I had to buy ear plugs as I got no sleep the first night but there was no way I was sleeping with window closed it was so hot. A normal fan would have made a huge difference and improved the situation greatly. The TV was a lovely modern LCD flat screen, unfortunately even though it had Freeview I could only get 2 channels to work (perhaps they could have sold the TV and brought an electric fan). |

The Location was great for Hyde Park and Paddington station. The staff were unfriendly and the entire place could do with renevating but for a short stay it was livable. |

The ease of registration and efficiency of the reception staff together with their explanation of the facilities available. Some form of air conditioning would have been appreciated in the circumstances concerning the weather. |

The convenience of the location is the main draw of Ascot Hyde Park Hotel. The room though small and old was quite clean. It was very noisy (a price to pay for the convenience) but the shower head that didn't quite work properly was more frustrating. I have stayed at other Ascot group hotels both in and out of London and I must say the Ascot Hyde Park Hotel didn't quite match up with the standards. |

Location & Price were ideal for my requirements. Hotel is in need of maintenance and repair. Room was large, sparse but adequate for my needs. This is a hotel for people on a budget. |

One word sums up this place - DINGY On one of the reviews it said that wi-fi only worked on the ground floor and the basement so I e-mailed a week before to check this out - I was reassured that wi fi worked on every floor - NOT TRUE - it only works on the ground floor and the awful dungeon of a basement where they serve breakfast. |
