We often stay at Ascot Grange when visiting our daughter at University. It is alway welcoming and the breakfasts are great. The price is very reasonable. It's not the Hilton but it dosn't pretend to be.

This hotel was very close to the University which was ideal for me. It was a little too old fashioned and breakfast at the weekends finished at 8:30am which is very early. My bathroom door wouldn't open and when I reported it, I was handed an old wire coat hanger and shown how to use it. The lady assured me that it was safe to lock the door when using the bathroom, she was wrong.I Had to rescue my daughter with said coat hanger. While the location was perfect for Leeds Uni, Leeds Rugby Club and Leeds Cricket Ground, The hotel felt old and tired and in need of some updating.

Spotless room, quaint layout, felt safe, wonderfully warm. Will definitely use again. The entrance hall could give the wrong impression as it doesn't fully reflect the quality of the bedroom; everything else was just right for a mid-week business stop-over.

Good location as bus stop to town center is outside also close to restaurants and petrol station and small supermarket. Owner was a nice helpful man but needs to think about refurbishing and cleaning the whole hotel to improve guests stay. I did not like the smell of the hotel, stale food smell was very unpleasant and the room and overall hotel was dusty and in need or a good refurbishment. My room was large but cluttered with old wooden drawers and tables and lamps that were in need of a duster, as well as the skirting boards, the tea and coffee facilities were old and dirty and the cups were old and cracked. We had a 4 poster bed which had seen better days with washed out dark bedding however the white sheets were crisp and clean. Windows that needed a lick of paint and a wash and a carpet that needed a good clean and hoover. I did not like the hotel/room due to these problems.

Good location and price, although hotel could do with a bit of tender love and care. Didnt find the owner to be particularly approachable/friendly but his wife made up for this.

The only redeeming feature of this place was the price. Everything else was appalling. Terribly dated (which is fine), awful, awful food (very cheap though) and no towels in the room. The owner (I think) who works the bar sucks the life out of the room. They were ripping up the floorboards outside our room, making it a deathtrap with holes and exsposed nails everywhere. We moved down into the bar and the guy literally put a ladder between myself and the group I was with and started removing ceiling tiles and was going to start drilling and filling the room with dust (there were 2 babies in the room with us also) but had a moment of sense and decided not to after we told the tradesmen that we though it was utter madness. It was like staying at a worse version of Faulty Towers - so bad it was funny. Do not eat anything here, there is no thought or effort put into anything. It is very cheap though - for a reason!

Although they have early breakfast time it was very good, freshley cooked. not easy to find using a Sat Nav as there seems to be a discepency with the postcode. Hotel able to give a good land mark for the entrance to the hotel is easy to find. Good size adequate carpark.

“Perfect location if arriving by train as it is directly opposite the station. It is central to the city, amongst all the shops and night life but very quiet in the rooms and I had one facing a busy road. Clean rooms and the one I had was a very good size. Was able to leave luggage securely on my last day whilst I went shopping.” Jeanne, Wigan |
