With excellent breakfasts and friendly hosts, the charming, Victorian Ashbourne House is in a pleasant area of York, and a 20 minute riverside walk from the center of the city. Ashbourne House is convenient for York Racecourse, York University and Fulford International Golf Club. There is a frequent bus service to the center of the city. Owners Paul and Julie provide homey, clean and cozy rooms with private bathrooms. The guest house has a Silver Award from the English Tourism Council. The 'Deliciously Yorkshire' breakfasts feature local ingredients, including outdoor-reared pork sausages, local bacon and free-range Yorkshire eggs, and fresh croissants. A warm and friendly welcome. Great attention to detail with all the little touches that make your stay a wonderful experience. Ashbourne House is the best B & B we've stayed in by far.

We both found the guest house excellent. Both Paul and julie were very welcoming and couldn't do enough to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The location is excellent with a good park and ride bus service. Will definatly be back

Julie was so welcoming on our arrival. The accomadation was very good, nice size room, spotless. Our breakfast was served each morning in a timely manner not rushed.Our breakfast was tasty and well presented. Overall julie, paul and, michael added to our first visit to york which was great, thank-you. Nothing my husband and I have no complaints.

The owners of Ashbourne House were very friendly and helpful. We let Paul and Julie know in advance that we are vegan and they did a lovely breakfast for us. Our room was really nice - clean and cosy. Ashbourne House is in a good location and you can walk into the city centre or catch a bus from just across the road. It was a lovely place to stay when visiting York and we would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to others.

Visit to york a beautiful city with plenty to see and easy to get around The railway museum was a great day out and easy to get to on the bus. We parked the car at the hotel and did not move it again until we went home.The buses are very regular into the city,also a designer outlet village on a bus route with a park and ride .

The hotel was really nice, we felt very welcome on arrival. The breakfast was great and the owners allowed us to come and go as we pleased which made us feel like it was a home away from home. The only thing i would say about Ashbourne House was that I gave the owners notice that i was a vegetarian however I feel like i missed out a little. As my partner recieved the full english breakfast but i would have liked to have veggie sausages or something to make up for the lack of bacon, sausage and blackpudding. However this is my own dietary requierment and accept that this goes above what is usually offered to veggies. However this being the only "fault" (the hotel was great) i would stay there again!!

Ashbourne House was immaculate - rooms, public areas, decor - everything was spotless. Good quality bed linen and towels, extremely comfortable beds. Nice little extras, teas, coffees, biscuits, sweets, toiletries etc. Extremely comfortable bed and quiet room. Lovely friendly, helpful hosts, lots of choice at breakfast. Would recommend this great little hotel for its excellent customer service and attention to detail. From a purely personal point of view - I though 8.30-9.30 a little early for Sunday breakfast. 20-25 minutes walk into town centre and would really need a taxi for getting back later in the evenings.
