The location was amazing. The staff could not have been more helpful. Liked everything about our visit.
the food was excellent and the staff very polite and professional. Enjoyed the leisure facilities. A nice big log fire in reception was welcoming. Staff always used name, which is nice. We brought our dog and they were very accommodating and clearly understood dogs. Our suite was big and looked over the golf course. Would have been lovely in the summer.
The food was excellent, the service in the hotel was absolutely faultless, the room was large, clean, everything you would want from a hotel stay
I rang to book a spa treatment for my girlfriend and myself about a week previous to our booking date and was told I would be called back as they were busy, I didn't receive a phone call so called a couple of days later and was then told the only appointment available now was on our checkout day early in the morning. When our appointment came round we got up early and checked out so we would be at our appointment on time. We walked over to the spa and were told by the receptionist "sorry but the therapist hasn't turned up for work. well... You know.. it's Sunday" basically implying she was hungover. We were offered a complimentary drink
Amazing place to stay, beautiful building and grounds, service was excellent albeit slow.
We stayed in room 9, which is one of the newly refurbished rooms. I am a light sleeper and kept on waking up from the noise in the corridor and the stairs. Facilities are great but there are only few loungers next to the swimming pool and this discourages people of enjoying it.
We went to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Our original holiday plan, a trip to the far east, had to be cancelled as I was advised not to travel being pregnant. And so we looked at some options close to home, and Ashdown came at the top. It was a wonderful from word go - we got a complimentary upgrade to a suite, which was very well appointed with a spa tub :) Our little one was given a (very full!) goody bag that she was thrilled to recieve. There were a lot of little touches that we appreciated - a personal note from the manager wishing us a happy anniversary, our spa appointments were rescheduled to fit our changed scheduled without any fuss amongst others. Our little one loved the pool and didn't want to come out! It was a lovely weekend, and we would love to go back
Park setting, comfortable rooms, quiet atmosphere.
No wifi, long gloomy corridors, dining room overbooked, spa pool in poor condition, overpriced for services provided.
Very polite staff, extremely professional service, the breakfast buffet has everything you need, the quality of the food is excellent. The restaurant is definitely worth visiting, they make it really special. The spa is enjoyable, too, you can relax in the jacuzzi or swim in the pool. The building is amazing, the location could not be any better. Overall, this hotel is a fantastic place to be, I can only recommend it to everyone.
Very attentive staff, good food, beautiful location.
helpful friendly staff who made us feel welcome while not intruding
the evening meal starting at 830pm (with no other option) was too late for us to enjoy and meant going to bed with a heavy stomach and disturbed sleep
The buildings and grounds. Also has an excellent swimming pool.
Long walk from room to restaurant
Shower was not good, the shower-head came adrift from the shower hose. The wi-fi connection was troublesome.
Superb location, wonderful food. Attentive staff. Has enormous old world charm.
First Room in attic and no heating, poor for the money asked. Replacement much better. Prices are a bit `toppy`. For such a hotel staff should know the right glass for the right wine.
The whole package, ambienc, food and situation
Poor lighting in the bedroom
Perfect area for romantic gateway. Wonderful garden, cycling and walking paths. Spacious and comfortable rooms with old-fashioned but not dated (!) furniture. The castle looks absolutely stunning. Friendly staff. Absolutely delicious dinner and breakfast, nicely served. I recommend it for everyone who's after some luxury in their busy life.
Spa facilities could be far better, more relaxing.
Really lovely staff and hotel is a great building in a wonderful setting but needs a spruce up in places, grounds and facitities were brilliant too!
The service was good and the food was amazing.
Poor service, two singles pushed together !! Honeymoon night. Thanks ashdown park
Staff, restaurant service, gardens. rural and walks
Slightly worn finishes in entrance
Being treated like royalty
Formal dining. Lovely nibbles served with drinks. Leisure facilities. Beautiful grounds.
Evening meal a bit pricey. Breakfast not very hot.
The welcome, the room, the service the afternoon tea the location....all jelled together to make it a memorable experience
We returned here to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The setting is stunning, as was everything else. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough if you appreciate traditional values and being pampered.
Having to pay the bill and leave!
Excellent afternoon tea, nice room and loved the spa facilities. It was a special occasion so a bottle of wine or some fruit would have been nice in the room.
Facilities, staff and food. All excellent. Very relaxing break
Nothing at all
The staff were excellent, the food was tasty and the room was very comfortable we had a lovely relaxing stay
