Being treated like royalty
Formal dining. Lovely nibbles served with drinks. Leisure facilities. Beautiful grounds.
Evening meal a bit pricey. Breakfast not very hot.
The welcome, the room, the service the afternoon tea the location....all jelled together to make it a memorable experience
We returned here to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The setting is stunning, as was everything else. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough if you appreciate traditional values and being pampered.
Having to pay the bill and leave!
Excellent afternoon tea, nice room and loved the spa facilities. It was a special occasion so a bottle of wine or some fruit would have been nice in the room.
Facilities, staff and food. All excellent. Very relaxing break
Nothing at all
The staff were excellent, the food was tasty and the room was very comfortable we had a lovely relaxing stay
Everthing was great.. the hotel, the location in a far calm area, the staff, the room, and breakfast.
The magnificent old building in large open grounds
The beauty of the house and grounds. Breakfast. Reception.
Non air conditioned rooms. It was a particularly hot couple of summer days, and so rooms was hot at night, but appreciate A/C probably impossible to install.
Great location, Nice setting, nice rooms, though for my room at 6'4" I could not stand upright in the shower, and could not raise my arms to wash properly. Beware if tall in upstairs room. Nice evening meal, with good service. friendly staff. Nice health club where I enjoyed a good massage. Pool is nice but area around is small for sitting and relaxing.
I took my elderly parents and booked a disabled room. The room was so far away from the reception and dining that I had to borrow a wheelchair for my Mother to get there. No kidding it was as far as the building stretched on the East Wing to get to the room. The en suite had a bath not a walk in shower, so useless for them. To save a problem in the morning I arranged room service breakfast. What a disaster. Everything was delivered on one tray all stacked on top of each other (cereal, tea, toast, cooked breakfast for 2) and just left on the coffee table on the tray. The staff did not set up a table or trolley and anything. My parents had to try and eat on their lap. Something they have never done, even at home. Tea pot and cups/saucers were on the floor when I popped in to see them, whilst they balanced a plate of food on their lap. It was a disgrace, and we paid extra for room service. It was not room service, but a tray delivery service only. This has never happened in any other 4 or 5 star hotels we have stayed at. A celebration visit for them to meet friends not seen for 10 years was a disappointment costing £600 for one night.
I loved the positive can do friendly attitude of all the staff. The buildings are beautiful and the history is really interesting (info sheet available from Reception). Our room was so comfortable with a great view. We enjoyed using the old lift with the sliding cage doors. The food in the restaurant was excellent and so was the atmosphere. We used the pool and had treatments in the spa which were so relaxing. We arrived on the Friday and stayed for two nights - as you can tell from my comments we had a wonderful time. Massive thank you.
Nice environment pleasant staff.
Small room, poor finish to bathroom with broken items and some things not working i.e. Extract fan
The staff, grounds, spa, food and bedroom.
Small detail- wifi a bit sketchy. No big deal!
Lovely location with good spa facilities. Beautiful views and very tasty evening meal. Room disappointing as right by lift and stairs so very noisy
The room location due to noise
location, the general ambience, wonderful breakfast
our room was a bit tucked away , small, and hot. Fortunately the windows opened wide. The corridor was very, very hot.
Food views service- interesting building olde worlde English Swimming pool Lovely comfortable bedroom apart from (see next box)
Poor shower head fitting so flooded the bath room. No draft beer Temperamental lift.
Staff were great, friendly, and attentive, always professional. Grounds were beautiful, food was superb. Wife loved it, so I'm happy. Would return, and probably will.
I didn't dislike anything, room was a bit stayed, could do with redecorating soon. Pillows need to be renewed, they smell of other people, but I do get that it's a hotel. Wine, and drinks generally were pricy, although this is just the norm, I just think the mark up can be excessive.
Absolutely everything. It's the perfect place to go and stay for a leisure break; whatever the reason!
Very courteous attentive staff. A lovely grand feel to the place with beautiful grounds, perfect for walking the dog. Plenty to do. Quality spa/gym for hotel. Food excellent and restaurant very good - although could be considered slightly "stuffy" and formal, we enjoyed that aspect for a change from the norm nowadays!
Wifi in rooms reception terrible! I was not able to access internet on any of our devices from the Fairway Suites despite it showing a strong signal.
Beautiful setting, all the staff are helpfull, friendly and nothing is too difficult for them. 24 hours room service, comfortable bar and good restaurant. Everything is fantastic.
Generally, the hotel was fine, nice room, staff helpful and friendly, restaurant very good quality for both breakfast and dinner. Massage also excellent. A few small things not quite right but the staff worked hard to fix any issues.
Pool rather small and dark and seemed full with just 12 people in it. Steam and sauna could not be used as a couple together as situated in the changing rooms. Charged £5.00 for a bucket of ice thought this was unreasonable and greedy! The grounds are extensive with walking paths marked out on maps, however, once walking there was no guide markers as to which path you were on!
