Ashley Guest House  

We would have loved to stay longer at Ashley Guest House. It was an immaculately kept, warm and cosy Ewardian House with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and less than 10 mins walk into the city centre. The owner, Phil, is fantastic - helpful, generous and very welcoming. Apart from the lovely room we stayed in, the highlight of the stay was breakfast the next morning - absolutely delicious! Great price given the standard and location of the guest house - highly recommended.

Very nice b&b, close to the old city of york, about 15 minutes walking .very clean and comfortable. The owner is very kind.

Our room #6 had good bathroom, big enought. The room was clean and the breakfast was good and served very quickly.

We stayed in room #6 which is lower-ground. Yes, it is mentioned in the description but I just did not expect that it will be that lower- ground. It is below the road so there is no "real" window in the room (it could be opened just a little bit for a fresh air and you can see the cars on the sealing level). Although the window is mentioned very clearly due to its decoration and curtains. This was the only minus. The room itself was very good. It took us much more time to get to the center than we expected and that is mentioned in the description. It is about at least 15-20 minutes of fast walk to the center. The surroundings are not that interesting, it is situated in the street of public houses. I have met more friendly staff while travelling in uk in comparison to Ashley House staff.

Location, friendly, helpful staff, good breakfast, would definitely recommend this guest house.

Very welcoming atmosphere. Location perfect for exploring the city. Clean, comfortable and quiet, haven't slept so much in a long time! Will definately stay there again next time we visit the city.

Philip was very welcoming and the guest house had a lovely atmosphere and very friendly. The room we stayed in was very clean and cosy the decor was lovely and in keeping with the house. The breakfast was fantastic.

Location,price,friendliness of staff and luxury rooms especially being upgraded to the best room at no extra cost as the guest house was quiet at that time.

Booked room 5 originally but was given Room No 1 on arrival as we were told it was a better room, and it was lovely. Bed was comfy, and decor very nice and clean. Towels were lovely and fluffy. Good choice at breakfast and a good cup of tea! All round good value for money.

Situated at the far end of the road coming back from York town centre. Would have been better if it was at the beginning!

Asley House was ideal for us as it was inexpensive and within walking distance of the City. Parking was not a problem as the owner has arranged for parking permits for guests. The scrambled eggs were the best we had eaten for a long time.

We loved Ashley guest house from the moment we arrived. Phil was a wonderful host. The breakfast there was the best we have had in three months of traveling. When we arrived we didn't have a car so when he asked we told him we didn't need any parking info. The next day when we decided to rent a car I contacted Phil who later made a special trip over to make sure we were parked in the right spot so as not to get ticketed! So nice! Our room had a big victorian bathtub which was just lovely. Everything about the place was warm and friendly.

The only issue we had was that the shower nozzle on the tub was a little funky. But it wasn't enough of an issue to "dampen" our stay. Hee hee.

Cosy and friendly, excellant breakfast, you must try the blueberry french toast.

Problems with the Wi-Fi and not much drawer space in room 1

Had a great time at Ashley Guest House the staff were very good and the Hotel very clean and tidy,would stay there again in future and would recommend the House for the comfort and the family atmosphere and friendliness paid to us during our stay.
