I stayed for a couple of nights for my birthday while my boyfriend was doing panto in Darwen and I had such a wonderful time. We were given a complimentary upgrade and the room was gorgeous. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was delicious - such great quality for a very reasonable price. I was also given some lovely chocolates for my birthday - compliments of the chef. It was the perfect birthday! Thoroughly recommend!
Courteous and very helpful staff. Food good. Clean room. Late booking wasn't a problem.
Tiny twin room. Deserts and cheese board disappointing compared to standard of rest of meal. Difficult to find hotel - signs not lit in the dark so several missed turnings before eventually found place - not helped by road being closed off at one end.
the hotel we thoughtfull enough to put us in a room away from the christmas party noise
Very nice house and grounds, nice bahroom. Breakfast cooked to order, so it's fresh
Very small bedroom. I asked to see another one and it was just as small. only one set of towels for 2 guests. when requested the second set they weren't even folded properly. TV sound was horrible Double doors to the bathroom just at the bottom of bed (not enough privacy) Coffee at breakfast was horrible. I had to ask for stronger coffee and still wasn't right. Because breakfast is cooked to order it does take some time.
Enjoyed the stay very much. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very relaxing. Food excellent.
Lovely hotel and relaxing surroundings. Dining room/food excellent. Very pleasant stay.
Not providing breakfast as part of deal.
Nice grounds and small lounges
Small room but functional
Only stayed the night and everything was fine
Excellent food, friendly staff, plenty of comfortable places to sit in lounges etc. also reasonable bar prices.
lovely old mansion in nice grounds; quiet location: no traffic noise.
mattress on bed was very soft and not very comfortable; shower over bath with plastic curtain: ugh!
Food-evening meal and breakfast were both superb. I informed the hotel that the reservation was for our wedding anniversary and they reserved us a lovely table in the window which was decorated for us. Waiting staff were also really attentive and friendly.
Good service friendly staff @nice places to stay
Beautiful building in a former house with lovely gardens in a quiet area of Darwen. Spacious bedroom with everthing you need. Also an excellent restaurant. Staff are helpful and friendly.
No ceiling light in bedroom. There is a standard lamp that unfortunately didn't work. Also water came out of shower and tap at same time, couldn't figure out how to turn one of them off whilst using the other.
It has a lot of old world charm and I felt it could almost have been from Fawlty Towers.
I asked if the hotel was full and told "no" at check-in. I was asigned a tiny room at the top of the house (that has no lift) and I felt that as I had booked thru Booking.com that I was not assigned the best room at the rate I paid.
Stayed 2 nights in well managed hotel that combines the elegance of yesteryear with all the comforts of today. Excellent staff, beautiful gardens and a restaurant that has an interesting and varied menu, beautifully cooked and presented. Will definitely stay again.
Location and country side feeling
beds were too soft no soft drink bar in the room.
We loved the friendliness of the reception staff, the option of sitting in the lounge with sandwiches having arrived mid afternoon and the quietness of the location and beautiful landscape. Within minutes you can be walking on the moors. The dining room is beautiful and would be an ideal location for a celebration.
Really found it difficult to think of anything, the only thing was the waitress served our cooked breakfast whilst we were still eating cereal. This was not a problem for us as it was piping hot and no doubt she would have taken it away had we asked. It certainly wouldn't put me off staying again.
The food was stunningly good and the Executive double room we had was lovely - bathroom was huuuge.... Will be going again.
Very Staff friendly helpful
Lovely hotel. Great food. Really good value for money
Being served breakfast was not the best. This totally lets the hotel down . No sauces , toast came 15mins after breakfast , staff looked very stressed with there work load !!!!!!!!
Whenever I am in Darwen, I stay at Astley Bank. The hotel is positioned just off Bolton Road and is entered up a longish drive. To drive by car does not prepare you for a fairly steep hill before you hit the hotel's gorgeous gardens. The views from the very comfortable bedrooms are breathtaking. If I were to get married, I would choose the hotel for the reception-but I am sure you would have to book well in advance !
That I was only staying for one night !
Gardens were nice breakfast okay
Would not stay here again or recommend this hotel to anyone.
My mum booked your hotel as a treat for our wedding night and we were very impressed with her choice. We will certainly recommend you to our friends. Thank you for making it special for us. Richard and Shelley Nightingale
The staff were friendly and helpful, everything was clean and comfortable, nothing not to like.
