Whenever I am in Darwen, I stay at Astley Bank. The hotel is positioned just off Bolton Road and is entered up a longish drive. To drive by car does not prepare you for a fairly steep hill before you hit the hotel's gorgeous gardens. The views from the very comfortable bedrooms are breathtaking. If I were to get married, I would choose the hotel for the reception-but I am sure you would have to book well in advance !

That I was only staying for one night !

Lovely hotel with excellent garden area. Nice lounge area too if you just want a drink or a coffee. The room was a little small for two people but the very comfortable bed made up for it. Staff were extremely helpful.

Wifi couldn't cope during busy period evening/morning. Staff member said it had just been improved, whoever improved it did not do a brilliant job. We've had 32 nights away, this was by far the worst wifi connection.

The grounds of the hotel were lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, there was a very noisy wedding on the night we stayed which made it hard to get a good night's sleep. The staff were very apologetic but I would advise phoning to see if there's a wedding on before you book!

Everything. We stay in lots of hotels, usually 4 star, but this is one of the best we have stayed in. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The surroundings were beautiful. The decor and rooms were exceptional. The food was extra special. We just could not fault this hotel.

There was nothing to dislike about Astley Bank.

Superb building, full of character. Extremely friendly staff. Excellent food all round, from breakfast through to evening meal. Great location to explore the area. Will use again.

Paid extra for the executive room but couldnt see how it was different to standad rooms in simular priced hotels we've been in. King sized bed was actually tow singles zipped together. However this may have been because the owners wanted to keep the wedding party that was there together and put us in a quieter place. It didnt stop us enjoying our stay, just an observation.

We liked the character of the hotel and the gardens. The staff in all areas were friendly and efficient. The breakfast was the only meal we had but was very good. We would stay again and book dinner as the quality looked good.

Fabulous food and wines. We had dinner on two nights. The staff in the bar and restaurant were delightful. Reception staff were very nice. The room was lovely and roomy. The hotel building is impressive and there are lovely touches around the place. The mix of modern extension and old build has been very well done.

Only one small shampoo and shower gel was okay for one night but I felt could have been renewed for the second night. Wi-Fi is a bit patchy but available in the main hotel lounge rooms.
