We asked for the light bulbs in the bathroom to be replaced and this wasn't done. There was also a lot of rubbish in the garden outside our window which wasn't pleasant as it it was a full length window.

It was a convenient location for our purposes (visiting Caerlaverock wwt) but I doubt it would be handy for anything else except staying in the hotel. The room and bathroom were both of a good size, furnished well and clean. Service in restaurant poor. We had to ask to be shown the menu for each course and then ask where our food was after ordering it for each course. It took us about 2 hours to eat and get our bill. The food was ok but service dire. We also asked for extra milk cartons from reception but the promised milk did not arrive until we returned to reception half an hour later to ask where it was.

The hotel was very understaffed for the volume of guests, leaving people queueing a long time for them to cater for breakfast, check out etc.

Staff Tv picture crap no choice of digital channels hardly. I have stayed in ten different rooms and they are all rubbish tv pictures. If I did not go out with customers most nights and had to stay in my room I would book elsewhere.

When we arrived the staff were very apologetic when they had to advise us that the booking that we made through "Booking .com" as the hotel was full and that had advised "booking.com" of this fact but that the web site still processed the booking. We thank the Aston Hotel for finding a similarly priced room in another Hotel prior to our arrival. Disappointed with the booking process although the replacement hotel was adequete.

Very friendly staff who were keen to provide an exceptinal level of service. Nice, well appointed rooms. This is not about what we didn't like because we had a really enjoyable stay, it is more about a few things what they could have done that would have to made our stay even better. 1, Magnifying mirrors in the bathroom for the application of make-up and for shaving 2, Slices of ham and cheese at breakfast for those who prefer a continental style breakfast. 3, Room Service available after 21.30 at night even if it were a limited menu eg sandwiches.

I liked the size of the bedroom and bathroom. I especially liked the shower. I also liked the fact that an iron and ironing board was provided and a hairdryer. The tea and coffee making facilities were also excellent. I didn't like the distance from the hotel to the centre of town.

Excellent choice at breakfast. Perfect for a pregnant woman preparing to start the day! Beds very comfortable. Room could have done with a bath. I think that they were only available in the more expensive 'executive suites'. The power shower was nothing to complain about though - Hot water and plenty of space in the cubicle (including a little seat!)

Freindly staff willing to help. Comfortable rooms. Good food and drink. Value for money. There were hairs in the bathroom and shower which were not ours! More car parking required when big parties are also using the hotel. Air-con very slow to react and windows hardly opened.

the location of the hotel is good as it is close to the town centre where there are a number of shops and pubs. there is a number of golf courses close by and a number of places to eat when booking the hotel the pictures gave the impression of a Sand stone building however the actual hotel was an extention to the sandstone buliding which ruined the look. also we had a superior double bedroom the bed was not comfortable at all there was a large crack down the wall and also a crack in the bath tub. it stated when booking that the room had a mini bar , this turned out to be incorrect. also the room tempature was very uncomfortable as it was to warm even with the airconditioning on.

Excellent shower and good breakfast. Wedding party staying at Hotel and although no more noisy than any other, the guests rooming around us returned to the hotel from across the way in dribs and drabs from about 2300 hours until 0245 hours after which we managed to get to sleep. Whilst this would not necessarily prevent us from returning we would be asking before booking if there was a wedding party staying there.

Modern feel, rooms were very clean, and comfortable. Strong smell of chlorine when we entered. We were not told which door to enter if returning late, I ended up being locked out for 50 minutes, the only reason I managed to get back into the hotel was by phoning a customer services number which at that time of the morning/night was in America and they had to phone the hotel to let me in. For some reason I could not get through on a direct number. Also when I was greeted by the night Porter he was in no way apologetic he told me it was "not his problem"!!!!! When speaking with other guest I knew they had a similar experience with this Particular member of staff. Due to this experience I would not recommend this hotel.....

Lovely comfortable bed, nice large room. Free wi fi in the rooms. Nice location, lovely food breakfast and evening meal in the restaurant. Free parking. On our second morning we arrived for breakfast and a pleasant waitress asked us to wait a minute which we did, (it was very quiet in the restaurant) and the manager in a suit noticed this and promptly went over to the waitress and immediately she came back to show us to our table! ~This input from this gentleman helped improve the service speed a lot. Not sure who he was but he obviously strives to improve things here. I noticed he is in the room halfway down the corridor and is middle aged. It felt that the staff in the restaurant were always busy but yet did not seem to accomplish very much! They were nice and pleasant however too busy to concentrate. They continually seemed to return to the till to enter details not sure why. The orange juice available tasted like water, I discussed this with the waitress and she explained that they were waiting delivery so had to water down what they had yuk! I asked if i could have a bottle of orange juice from the bar and she told me i would have to pay. Also on the first morning tea and coffee was served from a flask not good enough for this standard of hotel and to add insult to injury you were given one cup and no more. On the second day we asked for teapots which they agreed to.

The room we had was very comfortable and the meal we had on New year's eve was excellent. We stayed in the hotel the night before our wedding and for two nights after. The room we got the first night was huge and we had a garden view but The view on the second stay was the car park which was unfortunate.
