Staff Tv picture crap no choice of digital channels hardly. I have stayed in ten different rooms and they are all rubbish tv pictures. If I did not go out with customers most nights and had to stay in my room I would book elsewhere.

Met up with family before a wedding event. The prices of food & drink, in England the price of a coffee is about £1.90 not £2.99.

Friendly staff on arrival, extremely attractive decor for the price and comfort in the room. Wonderful choice at breakfast, and the coffee - well the best I have EVER tasted, must get the make and maker ! Nothing really apart from the carpet laying and the scaffolding around the outside giving no outlook from the room. But we realise that this was just temporary.

the facilities for disabled people was second to none and the staff were friendly, helpful and very curtious. I would recommend it to everyone either as a weekend stay or as we did splitting our journey as we had a hospital appointment and as we live 90 miles away it was nice to stay over and have abit of luxury. the only fault i had was the evening menu. it did'nt have alot of choice, i have a stomach complaint and enjoy a traditional menu not one with lots of spices and foreign sauces.

All staff were approachable - from Duncan on the main desk to the ladies who look after the rooms. Convenience of Easterbrook centre and Crichton church. Grounds well kept - peaceful. Lounge and dining area appeared too small for the amount of guests in the hotel. I feel that the cost is prohibitive for families. For value I feel within Dumfries and Galloway there are other equally good hotels available at a more reasonable cost.

The rooms were especially nice, beds very comfortable, bathroom clean and tidy. I believe the hotel could do more with the lounge/communal areas to ensure they are in keeping with the rest of the hotel ambience.

Breakfast was excellent, room stylish. It was our honeymoon, the champaign was warm, there was no ice in the ice bucket and when we asked for ice we were told we had to go to reception to collect it. It was miles away. There were no champaign glasses there were just tumblers. It's not as if the champaign was complementary we had to pay extra for the bridal suite and the trimmings. The room was unbearably hot and even the aircon wouldn't cool it down, windows only opened slightly making little difference. Staff were not overly friendly or helpful. Customer service could be better.

When traveling from the other side of the world it was wonderful to arrive to such a welcoming comfortable hotel. We stayed 11nights and enjoyed every moment from the spacious rooms to the friendly and courteous staff. We would especially like to thank Krystal who gave us advise on places to visit during our stay. Although we came for a skating competition we went away with so much more. Many thanks from your Aussie friends.

Absolutely fabulous staff. Nothing was too much trouble and the hotel amenities were very good. 4 star would best describe it. It is just out of town in a parkland setting on the university grounds. The building is pink sandstone and well maintained.

If m&s did hotels - or John Lewis - it would be like this. Room spotless. Bed a touch too soft for me. Shower excellent. Modern block does mean you can hear any cough or sneeze in adjacent rooms, but the guests staying here don't look like they are all night party-goers! Haggis balls (I think they had a more exotic name on menu) and guinea fowl for dinner was fine. Well presented although game was a touch chewy although I like it like that! Sauce (did pomegranate get a mention there?) was drizzled on plate very attractively but this bird needed more flavour and sauce to be a big hit. Nothing to complain about but essentially safe food just like you can buy at M&S! Creme brulee had more exotic sounding ingredients and was very nice but again, I could buy much the same at M&S. The staff are friendly and service excellent. Attentive without being obtrusive. The whole team is a real credit to the hotel. On a late booking at £64 for the night, this is an excellent stopover and stonking good value. Would happily stay again and may follow some of the other reviewers food recommendations.

Apart from the unpleasant experience at check-in (see below), everything was fine. The room was pleasant, if a little bland, and the bed was both large and very comfortable. The shower room was good, and the seat in the shower was a good idea. Snack lunch and breakfast were good, though there was a bit of a delay to be seated on Sunday morning. All the staff [apart from the receptionist] were friendly and helpful. My only significant grump concerned our need to check in at 12.00 noon to change for a wedding (on the same campus). We were charged an extra £15 - which I objected to but agreed because of the time constraints. Then, when we got there, the receptionist demanded the supplement in advance before she would release the room key. This meant putting down all the cases to dig out my wallet with credit card. FAR FAR from customer friendly! Did she think we run off without paying??

The room we had was very comfortable and the meal we had on New year's eve was excellent. We stayed in the hotel the night before our wedding and for two nights after. The room we got the first night was huge and we had a garden view but The view on the second stay was the car park which was unfortunate.

This hotel was very comfortable - we particularly loved the incredibly comfortable double bed and fantastic shower. We stayed over Christmas and the staff were lovely and cheery, despite working Christmas day, the breakfast was excellent value and the bar area was comfortable and stylish. The Chrichton grounds the hotel is set in have always been beautiful and location wise it was 5 minutes walk from my folks - couldn't have been more perfect for us. Thank you!
