St. Athans Hotel20-24 Tavistock Place, Bloomsbury, WC1H 9RE London (Show map) Good, Score from 555 reviews“Very friendly staff and great service. ”
Steven,
Kilmarnock
The St. Athans Hotel is family-run, simple and clean. In central London, it is within walking distance of the British Museum, the University of London and the New British Library. St. Athans offers rooms with shared bathrooms in Bloomsbury, an area once home to writers Charles Dickens and Virginia Woolf. This individually styled hotel is in several Georgian town houses (Grade II heritage-listed status), with interesting original features. There is free Wi-Fi in public areas, and a lounge area for guests to relax in. St. Athans is a short bus ride from the West End, with its many shops, theaters and Madame Tussauds. The hotel has been with the same family since 1964, who aim to provide friendly service and reasonable prices. Hotel Rooms: 45

Good location. Metro station and self-service laundry nearby. Don't expect to sleep well here. The building is old and walls are thin. Traffic from the street can be loud. The rooms and bathroom are very small with no shelves, towel racks, soap dishes, etc. Everything must go on the floor. Internet is not available in the room, only in one common room. You may have to climb four flights of stairs if staying on the top level. Payment by credit card is an extra 3% charge. It would be better to stay farther out of town at a hotel near a metro, the good location of this hotel is not worth it.

It was good to have free Wi-Fi even in the leasure room only.Good location, very near to Euston station. Staff is helpful and the breakfast is also good for the price. No TV, no coffee/tea facilities in the room could be a minus but still acceptable with its price.

Location to Conference venue, shops and other facilities. Loss of breakfast included with the price of the room is a major step backwards. No TV in room. No coffee/tea in room..

Our room was very clean, as was the shared shower room. The staff were friendly. The location was excellent. The stairs were a little treacherous. And the room's floor was very slanted.

The staff was very kind. Rooms are clean, and nice. The universal living room is quite nice, it has a computer available to anyone, a big tv and nice books to chose from. The food vas very tasty, and the menu had a lot to chose from. You should have breakfast here, its cheap but really satisfying. The only thing that I didn't like is the heavy room doors, and thin walls. I could hear other people slam their doors at 6am! I really needed to rest, and it was hard to maintain sleep this way.

Bed was a bit uncomfortable and the bathroom on our floor was like an aeroplane toilet - far too small and also needed an update. We had to go to the one on the floor below which was much nicer. Staff were all nice and friendly..

- The athmosphere - Prime location, great neighborhood - Helpfull staff - The floors creaks quite a bit - It's an old building, so the isolation (both temperaturewise and soundwise) is poor - apparently they cannot change this due to the historic nature of the building.

St Athans Hotel, Bloomsbury is in an excellent position being near Euston Station, Russell Square tube and not far from the British Museum. The staff were friendly which gave the place a family atmosphere. Our family of 5 had a room to ourselves. The cafe down below was excellent - where we had a full English breakfast which set us up for the day.

A great little hotel in a fantastic location. I took the train from Paris to London, it took me only 5 minutes to find the hotel and I was literally 5 minutes from 4 different stations. The room was simple, but clean and fairly quiet and even though they were share bathrooms, there was never a line up and they were spotless. The staff are very informative and the common room is well equipped for the backpacker atmosphere- info, wifi, meeting new people. One morning I went to the bathroom and found that my swipe card wouldn't let me back into my room. The night porter was unable to fix the problem so I had to wait until the manager could come in and reset the key. Not a huge problem, I only had to wait an hour and a half, and there was the common loungeroom anyway.

Hotel was very clean, staff were friendly, beds comfortable and very good value for money. For the price I have no complaints. Other guests however were not so bothered about the cleanliness of the shared bathrooms.

I found the St. Athans Hotel the perfect place to spend a few days in London with a friend. The location is perfect, you can reach in three minutes the nearest tube station (Russel Square, Piccadilly Line) in Zone 1. The Hotel is really nice and clean, and the staff is really kind and gentle. The room was clean and perfect for two people who want to stay out all day (E.G. it was not big enough to stay there all day). Breakfast is not included in the price, but there is a Coffe House under the Hotel that has a 10% discount for hotel guests. A very positive situation is that if the day you check out you have the flight in the night, you can live your luggage there without paying anything more. The neighbourhood is really quiet and served with everything you need (there's a Brunswick centre nearby with a supermarket open until 9 pm and places where you can eat everywhere).
