Value for money hotel with friendly and helpful staff. No breakfast included but nice cafe downstairs with lovely breakfast options (and a free cup of coffee). Room basic but beds were comfy and despite it being a large hotel there was no noise during the night. Nice that they had a locked luggage store for you to leave your bags rather than have to carry them around with you during the day. Lovely stay thank you.
No ensuite (but we knew that before we booked), however, the shared bathrooms were nice and clean (I did have 3 attempts to use the toilet though as it was busy in the morning). Struggled to find a plug socket to charge our phones. If staying for more than a couple of nights you might want some home comforts but couldn't fault the staff and the room was ideal for what we needed it for during a two day stay in London. Couldn't click on the smiley faces above to rate unfortunately, but we were happy with our stay.
The location was excellent, a short walk from the British museum and an even shorter walk to Russell square station. The room was also clean and cosy ensuring that we had a good night's sleep, essential for a short city break.
Close to the city center Clean Warm
Small and very high bed, but ok.
Clean, tidy, location, nice staff, easy to find. The Bloomsbury Cafe downstairs was excellent.
Not so much bad, but the room was incredibly warm. I just turned down the radiator and then it was better. Although they are not listed in the facilities anyway, the absence of a kettle and tea making in the room was a bit of a let down.
excellent location, helpful staff, lovely room
nice location, kind staff, cleaness of the shared bathroom
I stayed in the other building(28) just next to the main building which has reception desk. When I was staying, there are not many guests so it was so much quite so I felt a bit scared. There is a man who is living on the top floor of that building. I saw a name tag at the front door bell but I couldn't think he is a permanent resident... I have faced him with indoor gown (doesn't seem like guest in the hotel) twice in the corridor. He and I also so frightened each other. I think that the reception had better tell this condition to the guests...
Very nice location, easy to travel from the hotel to wherever you want to go. The bathrooms were clean and the staff was very welcoming and service-minded. The price was also the cheapest we found.
If you have small children with strollers, I would recommend you make sure you get a room thats located near the ground floor, because you risk having lots of stairs to "climb" with all the luggage.
I guess it was handy as it was next to Euston station.
I booked this hotel through booking.com as a last minute thing as I missed my train connection home. I phoned ahead as it was late at night to confirm it and they said it would be fine. Then when I arrived i was put on the phone to the hotel manager/owner asking why I was there so late and she made me feel a bit uncomfortable having to speak to them like that. They then required payment and as the reception bit was closed I had to wait for her to come over from wherever she lived to take payment. She arrived in her night clothes and was not happy about this situation even though I phoned ahead and was told over the phone it was okay to book /arrive late. Eventually after payment was taken I was given my room. Very small uncomfortable hard bed and a dusty room with creaky floorboards. It was a very uncomfortable nights sleep and I couldn't wait to get out of there in the morning. The room in general felt dirty and very run down as along with the rest of the hotel.
Staff are so helpful
Late check in and early check out
Warm, cozy, welcoming. Lovely vintage cafe downstairs with very good morning coffee and delicious porridge.
Wif fi wasn`t working on my phone.
Small, cozy and warm room with a very confortable bed is the only thing you need for visiting London. Clean and nice shared bathrooms. 5-10 min walk to the underground
Wifi is not as available as we firstly though. Expensive prices of the hotel cafeteris. There is a small fare for paying with card wich I think is pretty unfair as everyone usually pays that way...
Central location & value for money
Small room & too many stairs
clean sheets and pillowcase
No hot water in shower Noisy ?drunk guests came in in the middle of the night and kept me awake Man on the door failed to speak clear English words
Room was small for 3 people
I only needed a place to sleep near central london, so this was ideal. Room was very quiet, I pretty much slept through til 7:30 in the morning. Communal showers, bathroom and bedding all clean, though the whole place does have a certain 'old' scent to it!
Just the vague dusty smell really, but nothing unpleasant.
Overall athmosphere was great Helpful Staff Luggage holding area Cafe downstairs Near station Near shopping Triple room Reasonable price
Toilets not in room Have to remember to take key with you for a bathroom visit
Very well located, friendly hosts, very nice breakfasts at the Bloomburry café at the hotel's basement.
Quality of the mattress
Good staff, great location
The toilet was in the shower
I liked the hotel in my first stay so when I knew I had to go back to London it was the first place I looked
The bed, the location, the cafè beneath were all fantastic!
The window we had was adjacent to the street and was very noisy.
Cheap, nasty & smelly. The curtains did not fit, the "hotel" was stifling hot & un-comfortable and the bedding was dirty!!!. The room had a very peculiar stench. Two young able males watched me struggle up two flights of stairs with my suitcase with out offering to help. Disgusted!!!!
Staff were excellent very friendly. The hotel was in a good location for our needs. The room was lovely and warm. Clean.
My daughter and I just stayed for one night. The bed was very uncomfortable and the bedding was a sheet. A blanket that was all matted and a bread spread which I haven't seen being used for years. Good job the room was so warm because I didn't want to cover myself up. The showers weren't very clean either.
Very friendly staff. Room was dated but clean and nice. Quirky old hotel but I loved it. Great location - short walk away from downtown london.
Good position in London, 5 mins walk to underground station. The price are the cheapest nearby
There is no hot water in the room or any boilers. Two of us live in the room but there is only one charge. One of us have to go traveling with one phone charged. And the bathrooms are very poor.
Reception was open till 12:30 so I was able to check in quite late as I was travelling down from Birmingham with my new puppy.
When I checked in I was informed to get to my room I had to go back out side and walk 4 doors down but no major drama but I was just a little concerned as I'm not used to the UK being from the Channel Island. Once I found my room it was fine.
