Just across from the Queen's College playing fields and a 10-minute walk from the center of Oxford, the Falcon B&B is housed in 2 late-Victorian town houses and offers views of the college boathouses....

Room was not clean when we arrived, had to wait to 20 mins to collect room key, eating area was very small
Guest house had one member of staff who was lovely. Cleaned the room daily. Room and en suite was nice enough and better than expected. Ideal location and very regular buses to go into the centre but easily walked too
The owner very rude and didn't understand anything me or my partner said to him. It was like he didn't even know who was in which rooms. Asked my partner on the last day if he wanted a room!? Even though we been there for three night's. Didn't appear to be any smoke alarms and only one fire extinguisher no fire exit plans. On a whole the owner let this place down to which could be a very lovely place to stay.
This place is dire
The wifi connection was good and it was fairly close to where I was going. Also possibility to catch some buses to the city centre.
I was told that breakfast was until half 9, showed up a bit after 9 - turned out it was until 9, the woman just said I was too late and shut the door on me. The staff is horrifically unhelpful and borderline rude. There was no hairdryer, the room was super cold. I was in the building on the other side of the road, which was quite disgusting and urgently needed refurbishment. I dropped the keys under my bed and retrieved them as well as lots of dirt - needs some cleaning, really! There was a common kitchen but there was dirty laundry in there when I walked in, left unattended - not very appealing. The furniture is completely outdated. The common bathroom is not the cleanest, I took a shower and it was blocked.
Close to loads of shops, restaurants, etc, thus a very convenient location. Though it was quiet in the night, we got a really good night's rest. There's also access to kitchen, so not having breakfast included was not a problem. Just a short walk from historical sites in Oxford. Free parking.
Clean bedrooms and bathrooms, ten minutes from Oxford centre by bus and good parking facilities on site. Would stay again.
location to 02 academy venue
tv did not work
We had a quiet spacious room at the back. Clean but could do with painting around the doors and door frames (the do get a knocking in guest houses). Wood floors - better than dirty carpet. Large tv with Sky. We choose it fir the location. Lots of bathroom and kettle provisions.
Kurt eastern European breakfast waitress who moved us and another couple out of the breakfast room 9am sharp, announcing "breakfast is now finished!".
The guesthouse was noisy and not very clean. I think it is worth paying five pounds more to stay in a decent B&B in another part of town.
A bit out from the centre but Cowley Road has lots of good shops, cafés, bars all the way along it. Decent breakfast.
I got an 'upgrade' to an en-suite room but in another house 300 yards down the road. Breakfast was back in the main house. Room was slightly cold and the main light worked erratically.
The bed was comfortable, the TV worked.
This place is very run down. It needs a total refurbishment. The room door lock is faulty, the furniture has broken handles and is chipped and scruffy, needs to be replaced. The place smells of fried food and disinfectant. The staff do not speak English very well. The whole place needs a paint job. The shower was pathetic, hardly any flow. I had to repair the flush on the toilet as it broke in the night. The place was not very clean and was cluttered.Looks as if it is furnished from a charity shop, nothing matches.
We enjoyed the tea and coffee in the room, which demonstrates the extent to which we were unimpressed with the room on a whole. The location was okay , a short 10/15min walk into oxford and nice cafés.
Upon arrival to the location in the time frame which we texted the owner we were lead into the reception/dining/kitchen area. We waited here for around 10mins while he looked for the paperwork which should of been organised prior to our arrival we thought. After filling the paperwork, we were lead to another building across the street which looked nicer on first look. We were shown our room which to our disgust wasn't changed or cleaned from the last guest. The bed sheets were still on, the floor, benches and window seal was covered in a thick layer of dust and the bin was overflowing and this was at 12.45pm !! We were told to leave our stuff in the cupboard and leave so it could be cleaned. The owner then left and then let himself back in without knocking to inform us there was a bigger and better room for the 3 of us, delighted we went into the next room which to our disgust again hadn't been made up, the exact replica of the precious room. We were then told to leave, only to confirm with the owner that he was in fact going to clean our room as he didn't seem worried that his guests were seeing dirty rooms ?!! We were that concered by the unprofessionalism of the staff and accom that were worried that by the time we came back at midnight the room wouldn't be made up...not good. Thankfully it was !!All 3 of us would encourage you to look elsewhere as we didn't have the greatest experience at the Athena Guesthouse.
When we saw the outside and how dirty it looked we decided to go elsewhere. When I rang up the guy who answered the phone seemed clueless about the booking!
The facilities were good. Nice, clean bathroom with nice toiletries. Nice room with matching accessories.
There was no reception. The kitchen space was very small. So small that some of the breakfast food, e.g. fruit, cereals, and bowls, were out in the adjacent hall. One of the small towels was stained. A bit too much tech in the bedroom. A TV, a radio, a stereo.
The breakfast was great.
Our room was searched by police in the middle of the night.
easy to travel into city
sorry do not think this guest house warrants 3 star rating noisy road and the location and outside scruffy staff not very experienced and somewhat rude to other guests although may be language problem
There was a kitchen.
No response to doorbell so phoned a mobile number and told to admit myself to room after getting keys out of a box with a combination lock. The other guests, including a child, were very noisy.
Friendly and helpful staff, good location and it was great that you could park for free directly outside the property. The breakfast was very tasty and filling. The room was a reasonable size with lots of storage and it was clean.
It was in need of refurbishment. Paint and carpets looked very tired and worn. Had trouble with locking our bedroom door which was a bit of an inconvenience.
The accommodation is ideally situated within striking distance of the city centre. I shared a twin room with a colleague in the adjacent annexe. The kitchen and bathroom facilities are finished to an excellent standard.
The bedroom wasn't finished to the same standard as the bathing and cooking areas. The price was at the lower end of the market for Oxford. Anywhere else the cost of £69 room only would look exorbitant.
Cleanliness, multiple power cords going into minimal sockets. The bathroom had mould like you have never seen growing. It almost looked like a fungus.
Shabby exterior. Smell of stale food in dingy hallway. Net curtains in bedroom were frayed down both sides, Sheet on bed had .a cigarette burn in it Don't expect social niceties from the staff - no "Was your room alright ?" " Did you sleep well?". Breakfast was served in a very small room .Had to wait for a table to be cleared, with no apology. No offer of cereal or fruit which were on a shelf in the hall outside the breakfast room. Vegetarian cooked breakfast was served with one over cooked veggie sausage. No one checked to see if we were ok for tea, coffee etc In need of a coat of paint and freshening up. Have stayed in cheaper 3 star B&Bs which had better service, were friendlier and better decorated.
easy access to city centre by bus parking available staff let us park for extra time next day
could do with opening windows in the communal areas and some redecorating
Every thing it was relaxing and easy access to shops etc x
Need sloop for wheel chair
