The location The room was old fashioned and too small and did not meet our expectatios at all. The bathroom wasn't at all acceptable for the kind of hotel it was suposed to be. I really do not understand how is ir possible that the Athenaum has so good reputation in booking. It does nit deserve that reputation at all.

Location on Piccadilly near Park Lane is excellent. The bedroom was extremely disappointing, very small (approx 24sq m). The wardrobe was only 1 metre wide (with a door which was difficult to close)and already contained the iron, the ironing board , the hair dryer and a box with slippers, and shoe cleaner. There were no proper drawers to put clothes into, only the bed side tables with 2 miserable drawers. The bathroom was tiny but well fitted apart from very small bath with a chip. Our room was booked as a superior room and I enquired about other standards and was told there was nothing available for an upgrade, the superiors were decided inferior. We could'nt bear to spend any time in it as there was no comfortable chairs so we never even used the mini bar or coffee facility.

Great location, convenient, walk to some main attractions. some good restaurants nearby. Hotel interiors: updated hotel room, nice bathroom. If you book the" run of the house" type, the room is very small with pretty bad view - nearby building is so close, all their windows face right at your room. If you need double beds, you will have to pull the king size bed apart, you will have about less than two feet of space between the two bed, no more. There are mirrors every where to make the space seems not so tight. All the pictures on the hotel website are very specious rooms, not this type. Desk chair has seen better days, it's quiet worn out and noisy. One of the hotel concierge points out Hard Rock Coffee next door to us when asked where to go for dinner the first day, knowing well that we are from United States. Why we want to dine at a restaurant from our country ? that puzzles me til' now.

The staff were friendly, the beds were extremely comfortable and the decor was very pretty. the mini bar was free which we thought was a lovely touch. The room was very small for a superior and the bathroom was certainly not a luxury one(small shower above bath etc) The breakfast was very expensive hence we went out and the walss were paper thin so we were kept awake all nigth by a row going on in next doors room. Our room was not ready for us at 1.20pm which we thought was quite late and when we returned at 4.30 we still had to wait for our luggage to arrive and had to ring and hurry it up.

My second stay. Was my birthday and our park view room was upgraded to one of the apartments - very, very nice indeed! A massive bed, free bar cabin with ice cream etc... When ice ordered it arrived within two minutes! Extremely comfy. Staff were there when you needed them - otherwise you were left to enjoy. The only minor thing was the noise from another apartment - namely kids. No other sounds were heard at all. Also the bar cabin was not filled on our second day, but was done as soon as I mentioned that to the staff (within five minutes). Ordered midnight snack but lots of things on the menu were not available - however when I asked for any pizza with anything they could find on the top (we were starving!) they created the most delicious and spicy pizza for us - nice one :)

Staff made us very welcome. Hotel has understated class and great location. When we arrived, hotel did not have our booking! Unsure whether the fault was with hotel or booking.com. However, staff were excellent about it, dealt with it well and gave us a free upgrade

From the moment we were greeted at the front door to our departure, all of our expectations were realised. The Hotel is a 5 Star establishment and there is no denying that the Hotel deserves this rating. The staff were happy, very friendly, and helpful. Our room was spacious, comfortable, well appointed and an added touch was being upgraded and having the use of the mini bar free of use and restocked everyday. This was a nice touch. The proximity to a lot of London tourist destinations made the use of public transport foolish. We dined at the Hotel Restaurant on our last day.The food and service were excellent and we were disappointed that we hadn't dined here earlier. We loved our stay here and have no hesitation in recommending it to other Travellers. This will be our choice of stay on our next visit to London.

We liked the location, on hand to shopping and sights, although we had to catch a taxi to most places we wanted to visit. It was very expensive for the type of hotel it is, I know it's in london, we have stayed in many hotels in london with better facilities and breakfast included that are cheaper. The staff could be friendlier, the customer service at check-in was without a smile, I think that was just our luck as I did notice that the other reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The girl in the whiskey bar looked like she could't be bothered, when asked for advice with a drink she was not very helpful. Paying these prices in the bar we expected excellent service.

Good location , nice staff Air conditioning was not working over the weekend and the rooms were very hot. Because of the work they were doing there was a massive crane next to the hotel and people on the roof banging. I have stayed at the hotel a couple of times and there is always building work!

Location was very central. As it is in the centre you pay a premium for parking~£38 overnight. No set-down area in front of the hotel to park while checking in...only a bus lane which might prove problematic during peak traffic times. The bathroom facilities in the room were poor for a 'superior room' in a 5 star hotel.....no separate shower and dated fittings.

The hotel has a quirky feel, with modern art in abundance. The afternoon tea is to die for! We weren't asked initally if we wanted a room with just a shower or a bath. When we were shown to our room it had disabled facilities and just a shower. They simply moved us to the room next door to have a bath. I think we should have been told it was one of the rooms with disabled facilities and asked us if we wanted to take that one or another one.
