This hotel is definitely not a 5 stars hotel, maximum 3 stars. We had so many negative points, that it would not be possible to list all of them here. Just the major points: Our rooms did not have a reception/lounge area because they were not in the main building. We had to go out in the street and walk to reach the lounge. The rooms are extremely small and dark. The hotel states that the mini bar is complimentary but they didnt re-fill it every day and once we had to call room service 3 times before they came after 1,5 hours to re-fill. One door to the corridor was damaged. One cupboard in the bath was damaged. The ventilation system is so loud and noisy that we had to sleep with ear plugs during our entire stay. These are just part of all negative points. Although we booked with a special price (better that normal) this hotel is still extremely expensive for what it offers.

Great location and service. Complimentary mini-bar (soft drinks and snacks + milk for hot drinks) and fridge space for personal use. Complimentary pastries in the afternoon.Fabulous breakfast. Front rooms overlook Green Park, large windows. Very comfortable room, bed, lighting - even side of curtains velcroed to block light.

The location was great. The 'Park view' room was tiny - did not come close to living up to the description. I have never felt so ripped off by a hotel.

Location on Piccadilly near Park Lane is excellent. The bedroom was extremely disappointing, very small (approx 24sq m). The wardrobe was only 1 metre wide (with a door which was difficult to close)and already contained the iron, the ironing board , the hair dryer and a box with slippers, and shoe cleaner. There were no proper drawers to put clothes into, only the bed side tables with 2 miserable drawers. The bathroom was tiny but well fitted apart from very small bath with a chip. Our room was booked as a superior room and I enquired about other standards and was told there was nothing available for an upgrade, the superiors were decided inferior. We could'nt bear to spend any time in it as there was no comfortable chairs so we never even used the mini bar or coffee facility.

We all loved the hotel. Travelling as a family with two small children can be difficult and the Athenaeum did a wonderful job of anticipating and providing just about everything that one would need for a stay in the city. From theater tickets to scooters and helmuts for the children, as well as a wii video game in the kid's room, the staff took care of all of our needs. We can't wait to return! The children's play room was also a spectacular hit with our little ones.

From the moment we were greeted at the front door to our departure, all of our expectations were realised. The Hotel is a 5 Star establishment and there is no denying that the Hotel deserves this rating. The staff were happy, very friendly, and helpful. Our room was spacious, comfortable, well appointed and an added touch was being upgraded and having the use of the mini bar free of use and restocked everyday. This was a nice touch. The proximity to a lot of London tourist destinations made the use of public transport foolish. We dined at the Hotel Restaurant on our last day.The food and service were excellent and we were disappointed that we hadn't dined here earlier. We loved our stay here and have no hesitation in recommending it to other Travellers. This will be our choice of stay on our next visit to London.

We liked the location, on hand to shopping and sights, although we had to catch a taxi to most places we wanted to visit. It was very expensive for the type of hotel it is, I know it's in london, we have stayed in many hotels in london with better facilities and breakfast included that are cheaper. The staff could be friendlier, the customer service at check-in was without a smile, I think that was just our luck as I did notice that the other reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The girl in the whiskey bar looked like she could't be bothered, when asked for advice with a drink she was not very helpful. Paying these prices in the bar we expected excellent service.

The bed ws lovely, mirrored/marble bathroom was nice and the free mini bar (excluding drinks) was a lovely touch with coffee and tea making facilities. The option to open the balcony door was great and the view of Green Park is lovely. Great options on tv including the sports channels. Room given was a bit dated with the shower having a curtain instead of the more hygienic glass. Although received a call prior to arriving to ask about the special occassion we were celebrating, no extra touches were provided which was dissapointing.

Loved the afternoon tea. Staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. Room was comfortable and location excellent. Spa was disappointing, very basic- two hot tubs and a steam room only. No pool or sauna, no loungers to rest. Room was very well priced fir central London, we found a great offer but if I paid full price I would be disappointed it was quite basic, but free use of mini bar excluding alcohol was a good extra of the room.

Good location , nice staff Air conditioning was not working over the weekend and the rooms were very hot. Because of the work they were doing there was a massive crane next to the hotel and people on the roof banging. I have stayed at the hotel a couple of times and there is always building work!
