The location, friendly staff, freshly cooked breakfast, helpful front of house staff, free daily wifi
Cramped rooms, our bed was too small and badly sprung. New decor was attractive but a little claustrophobic, especially the enormous pelmet.
Close to Hyde park, close to cafe's good nights sleep.
Access to padding ton station easy
No shampoo!! Small Old
Location close to Paddington
Rooms had no extras - Ironing board -shampoo -blinds were in need of replacement
Location was central to many things in London.
Rooms were very small
Location was great for getting around London.
Shame we had disrespectful neighbours who talked until 4am and no one asked then to be quiet.
Location, staff, near by resturant were amazing
Nice room, nice beds, nice location
The only good point is the location close to Paddington, Hyde Park and at 15´ walk of Marble Arch. The people who serve the breakfast
The beds are small and unconfortable. The rooms are ugly. There are not chairs in the room,
they did change our room to a much more pleasant bigger room cooked breakfast very good all very friendly staff too. lovely terrace on beautiful tree lined street with good restaurants nearby
tiny tiny tiny little 3 person in the basement with no air, no cupboards meant a stifling challenging night. please make this a two person room only
The room was clean and tidy bed not to bad location close to paddington we could get to where we needed to go
The breakfast I know it was included but it was not nice at all the eggs were hard the whites were runny my husbands toast was mouldy bread not very good
The staff at breakfast were very helpful. Bathroom was very modern. Hyde park/Kensington Gardens only a short walk away.
Poor bed linen. Wasn't impressed with tv, wasn't satellite as advertised but was freeview instead. Some reception staff could have been more helpful and friendly.
Location. Prompt breakfast service
It was hot. My 89 year old father who travelled with us was on the 4th floor, and it was very hot up there . A simple fan costing perhaps $15 would have sufficed, but none was available (although reception had one). I did not expect it to be 5 star but we paid about £800 for 5 nights in total for 2 rooms.
I liked the location
The wardrobe was dirty the bathroom was full of hairs ( not ours ) the room only had a skylight for a window we asked for a fan to help cool the room down but all we got was a shrug of the shoulders
small room for a family-4 adults
smoking in rooms smoke comes under doors and through windows no aircon but there was a motor running loud all night. only 2 star statis
Good location Good breakfast Honest price
Was verry hot, no airco, no window to open Extra bed for 3rd child was really uncomfortable Some things (outlet, sink) needed to be fixed, wallpaper showed marks of humidity,... a pitty, because this could be fixed with a very small investment
Location was very good. Hotel had a lift and around it was many good restaourants.
Stuff was rude. They did not basically do anything to feel good on this hot days, no air at all in room, windows not possible to open. Cleaner was at room everyday, but not for a cleaning, everytime was touched our stuff and they never change bed clothes or towels. Day before leveing they eader trhow our one bad by tought its rubbish i guess. Its not exeptful. No WIFI (or cost extra ), if you are on holiday then no meaning to pay extra bec anyway it was not worth money.
Clean room and nice bathroom, Personnel takes care of yours property security, Very close to the tube
Noise outside, Breakfast could be better
Attitude of some of the staff
Location - close to Paddington station, hop-on-hop-off bus stop; good restaurants, etc. We gave a "Fair" rating for Staff - solely because of the ladies working in the breakfast room - definitely not because of the Reception staff.
Granted it is London, but what we got for the price we paid was extremely disappointing to say the least. Room was so small we had to put our suitcases on the bed each time we wanted to get something out, then close them and stand them up against the wall. Despite reporting cigarette butts on window ledge (in a non-smoking property) and the broken/loose toilet seat, nothing was done about either before we checked out. Power points and light switches were loose/not secure - definite electrical hazard. No shaver power point in bathroom. No plug in handbasin. Keycard for door didn't always work - totally hit and miss. Wardrobe had no back on it and the door wouldn't close, so it was unstable and ready to collapse. The sheets were never changed during our 4 night stay. Pillowcases were torn/split. Bedding was worn and tired - we in fact had a single blanket on a double bed. No toiletries other than 2 bars of soap supplied for 2 people for 4 nights. Floors and shower not cleaned properly - hairs (not ours!) were everywhere. The guy in the adjoining building hung out his window all hours of the night and day smoking, coughing (as if he had emphysema) and spitting onto the concrete 3 floors below. We couldn't open the window because of the smoke smell and horrendous coughing and "hoy-king" noises, in fact, we could actually hear it even with the window closed! There was no safe as advertised. No bar fridge/mini fridge in the room - although not sure where it would fit anyway. Reception staff were eating and drinking at the front desk and did not seem interested in answering any questions we had, but would stand around talking amongst themselves. Breakfast was included in the room rate but was very average - tinned fruit, juice concentrate and not much variety. Did Athena Hotel B & B leave an impression? Yes ... but for all the wrong reasons!!! We would NEVER stay here again nor would we EVER recommend it!!
Nothing - no refund offered when I showed staff the appalling quality of the room. I wished I could leave immediately but it was late and I had a show to get to on time.
The carpet was filthy, mattress stained, wallpaper stained, peeling and with cobwebs, blanket stained. Breakfast in basement was small amount of cereal in bowl and cheap poor quality ingredients with limited choice for the so called "full" English breakfast. No fresh fruit, no veg. Bad coffee.
