location wise it ws very good. a 10minute walk from marlble arch and oxford street. our bathroom has just been renovated so it was a good point as well. breakfast was fine. when i booked through site I was checking hotel rates in my currency, euro. but then on arrival i still had to pay more as my euro price apparently could still fluctuate with rate of exchange, so i ended up paying more than i had planned for my accomodation.

We liked the cleanliness of the room and the size of the room was also adequate. The television was in good working order and we had tea/coffee facilities in the room which were all working. The staff were less than helpful when it came to an extra request. Upon return to the room in the evening we explained to the man on reception that I had gastritis and my dad had asthma therefore required extra pillows for head support to ease the symptoms. The man said there should be extra pillows in the closet and we explained that there were not and we had already checked. He then proceeded to tell us that he will try to find some extra pillows and he will bring them up to the room. We did not recieve any extra pillows at all or any follow up. Also the breakfast was not even to an adequate standard - we had small pieces of toast, one egg, one rashe rof bacon beans and a skinny sausage. We had to eat something else upon leaving the hotel becaue the meal was so small. Also the tea/coffee was cold on the buffet table.

Dont stay in room 45 or 46 only suitable for one person, very cramped. The breakfast was very small to say the least, in thought it could have done with a very good clean. It was ok for one night would not like to have stayed any longer.

The positives was the location. Perfect for exploring London and very close to the underground and Paddington Railway station. Hotel staff were friendly. Parking was directly outside the hotel and at £10 per day was reasonable, although there was a need to 'double park' and car keys needed to be left at reception and hotel staff moved the car 'as required'. Breakfast was well cooked and fresh, although the portions were small. The hotel looked nice when you entered reception, it was only when you entered the rest of the hotel that you realised it is in desperate need of renovation. Some work is currently being done. Reception failed to inform us that building work was happening in the room next to ours and only when we exited the lift and had to step over all the rubble bags that we found out! A real H&S hazard! We had a 5 bed family room. It was extremely tired looking - wallpaper was peeling of the walls, the room was 'sort of' clean, until you looked down the back of the children's bunk beds and saw banana skins, dirty tissues, etc. The bathroom was clean although in need of renovation. The bedspreads were old and very stained. There were no locks on the windows and the room looked out onto a flat roof, so not sure how secure it was? Obviously the hotel is being modernised, but I think if you book this hotel, it will be luck on the standard of room you get? I paid £275 for the room for 2 nights and was expecting nicer quality having seen the photos on the website - disappointing!

Its locality to Paddington Station was great. The Full English breakfast was well cooked, tasty and was adequate for our needs. Room was very tidy (albeit a bit small) and Mario and his crew were very friendly and accommodating - we'd have no hesitation in staying here again. Our only issue was the room size but we would not complain about that!

cheap and cheerful. good value for money. ground floor family room for one night served us well..... 3 generations - self, partner, (56 and 61) daughter (34) and grandaughter (8). longer stay could have been a bit too much especially as there were no windows but only stayed one night! might get v hot in summer due to roof skylight but all in all would use again for an overnight stay at the rate we paid via your website.... breakfast was a big bonus so recommend hotel continuing to include. prob only 3* review without it as other.... no views was a minus as was mattress condition according to daughter who slept in bottom bunk and could see underneath of 8 yr olds on top. that said sheets clean and pillows buy pillow case would have been nice. only slept there really. not good for spending any chill out time in room

Location was useful ... Parking £10 pn @ nr location under separate booking via their website. When emailed them was told it was £15 pn & outside their hotel they had 4 spaces - we could have 1 of them. When we got there despite confirmation email (luckily took it with me) they'd only booked it for 1st night not all 4 days requested - resolved, but had to leave car keys in case they had to move it to get their van out. Room - ok. Compact - double, single & a camp bed in - struggled to get in wardrobe/safe or nr dressser. Requested - extra pillows x3 as only 1 us had 2 pillows. Initially told probably unlikely as house keeping gone home - requested few times, even as we returned to go to bed - then told may only be able get 2 - settled on this & 1 child slept with 1 pillow. All very flat. Itchy blankets, musty bedspreads, too & room was cold as well as very noisy - on main road & other residents could be heard - all far too well! Camp bed left unmade & also cleaning fluid bottle left in bathroom. Full English breakfast was lacking a few items & only consised of 1 sausage & 1 slice bacon. Breakfast tea either full of bits or didn't taste right. Continental option - obviously was cornflakes, muesli or fruit salad! Only orange juice avail too. Dining room lacked space. Didn't bother 1 day with breakfast @ all. Left feeling really exhausted & very disappointed in accomm choice.

Friendly, excellent value. Private parking available (for £15) which was worth it. Lift for elderly mother to get to her room. I felt we got what we paid for here. I hate to pay exhorbitant London prices and now know there are 'value' places to stay if you simly want a comfortable bed and no expensive frills. Nothing. It was better than expected!

Functional room with good on suite shower/bath room. The staff were plesant and helpfull. If you want a hotel that supplies what you need wth no frills then this is the one for you. I thought the breakfast portions for the full english were very poor. The first day I asked for full english and got one small sausage, one slice of bacon, one fried egg and a spoonfull of beans. Toast and coffee were provided but like I said the plate which was meant to be full english was about what I would call half an english. Dont get me wrong what I ate was very well cooked and everything was clean and well presented it was only the portion size I had some trouble with. In my room the bedding was a bit antique. I kind of expected quilts and got old fashioned sheets and blankets. I would have preffered a quilt like every other hotel supplies these days. Even the cheaper hotels are quilted these days. I have not recommended this hotel to other travellers as I think the Breakfast portion and the provision of good bedding are a pre requisite in any accomodation. Should they be addressed then it is a good hotel otherwise.

Good service at front desk - answering questions, providing directions. Breakfast service was excellent. Our room was very small, barely enough room to turn around. Maybe this is what to expect at a budget hotel. Need soap dish in shower and bathmat in bathroom.

Very central, cleanliness, great breakfast, in brief great value for money I reckon the receptionists need to be more friendly and smiling, at least a fake smile. Not that I say they didn't deliver what should have been delivered but I mean the way of delivery. I am not sure they were only like this with me or in general.

There was nothing to like about the Athena. It was the worst place I have ever stayed at. Nothing like the photos on your site. Complete false marketing at its worst. It was filthy, old, run down, uncomforable, etc. I will never stay there again and will never recommend it to anyone! I thought this was the worst place ever. The bathroom in the dining area was not working and filled with human waste. The lobby had mattresses in the room the entire time and the drink machine was empty for the time we were there. Our bathroom was disgusting and look liked it had not been updates or cleaned in years! The curtains on the window has brown stuff all over them. The bed spreads were old and worn as was the one chair in the room, tattered and torn. The room was heated with a space heater so you either burned up with it on or froze with it off. The hall ways and stair wells were lined with construction materials and so dangerous we almost feel several times trying to step over ripped up carpet, foam insulation, tools and fire extinguishers that were off the walls and buried behind things. This was the worst place ever and they would let us out of the contract to stay there. Truly an awful experience.
