The magical settings, great service and outstanding cuisine makes the Atholl Palace a must stay to the gateway to the Highlands.
Friendly staff , comfy and un-pretentious lounge areas. Food was good

The location was good and the room was very comfortable and clean. Other Facilities were good also, pool was nice.Breakfast was enjoyable. Nice walks and surrounding area.
Pick a bad weekend to stay as there were two weddings and a Christmas party. Could hear thumping music from 9:00pm to 1:30am, didn't sleep well at all.We phoned reception twice to get music turned down, first answer we got was they couldnt do nothing about it, second time they said that they would try and get the music turned down, Think it got louder.Very disappointing. Very busy lounge couldnt get a seat at all during our time. Seems like because the weddings and party were bigger booking than us they where more important. Ruined our stay to be honest
The menu was a bit limited
Pitlochry is a lovely wee town to explore
The hotel decor was dated. The overall cleanliness was not up to standard. Overpriced for what was on offer. Felt disappointed and a little cheated when checking out.
We liked everything about the Atholl Palace.
Warmest welcome by reception staff. Lovely room with a beautiful view. Excellent food. Enjoyed visiting the hotel museum, so very interesting. Wonderful open fires in very comfortable lounges. Enjoyed a walk in the well kept grounds to visit the herb garden, whilst my husband played pitch and putt. We will definitely be back!
I am dairy intolerant, but soya milk was not available.
everything the spa the gardens
The location, beautiful accessible countryside, the sense of history of the hotel, its ambiance, the food.
Dining experience could have been a bit more intimate, its a big busy dining room, food OK but nothing extra special.
The look of the Palace was really nice, looked as if the grounds were kept well. The manager sorted everything out for us after there was a mistake on their behalf of the booking. Stag head Inn/Bar was really nice and comfortable. Food was presented nicely and tasted good.
They lost our booking and shoved us in a random room. Only one person was at the reception when we arrived looked like it was clearly understaffed, and she didn't speak fluent English. There were painters and decorators next door to us and our room smelt like paint, phoned down to reception however was told I would receive a callback in 5 minutes which never happened.
Loved the room warm and comfy. Loved the fires in all locations of hotel. Pool and spa excellent. breakfast was lovely. Staff all freindly.
Thought it was a bit pricey for drinks and meals no offers on meals. No entertainment on while we were their would have liked some entertainment.
Location is great, setting in grounds lovely. The pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna all free to use and kept in great condition. Room was lovely and big, warm and cosy. Food was great although we thought a bit expensive so we only had breakfasts (brilliant buffet, wide range and good quality) and went into the town for dinner, The staff were always friendly and helpful and service given was prompt and polite.
Only very minor niggles. For our liking the mattress was a bit firm but we are used to memory foam so no surprise there. The light didn't work in the steam room so it was a bit gloomy and in our en-suite the pipes hummed a bit when water switched off but we felt that was part of the character and again no big deal. Nothing was so bad it really spoiled our stay.
Great night away without kids great food xx
I think it's a bit pricey for one night
we both loved the location great hotel good staff nice food
the room was quite tired really could do with modernising
Fantastic location and wonderful premises. Very olde worlde with a modern twist
The staff was really nice and the ground floor is gorgeous. Loved the lounge room. The evening we stayed here there was a wedding going on, and it was great to (partially) see a scottish wedding party :) It didn't disturb us at all during the night. Nice choice of food for dinner and breakfast.
I admit that I expected a bit more from the room, even if it wasn't a suite. I admit that during my 2 weeks long trip through the uk I've been in much nicer rooms for much less money. We were at the 4th floor, so I guess that we had one of the least pretty rooms, up in the tower. Overall, it didn't look like a 4 star hotel room, it's like you're charged a lot for the location: the furniture looked cheap, the windows were squeaking all the time because of the wind and the bathroom was a bit meh.
Surroundings, food, service
There was a large conference party and the loud noise coming from them spoiled what should have been a nice relaxing dinner. I feel they should have been away from everyone else. I didn't expect them to have been quiet, after all they had to enjoy themselves as well
Atmosphere of the hotel Spa Location Staff
Windy windows- single glazed windows in keeping with hotels age but did let the wind in- esp in bathroom.
totally wonderful stay, will return again soon
The hotel has been beautifully refurbished. I can remember what it was like a few years ago. It caters very well for different occasions and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
Was slightly disappointed with the food. While enjoying veg option soufflé, it was overpowered by a tomato/auberge mixture. The croissant at breakfast was soggy.
The entrance hall and lounges were very impressive, as was the dining room and views. The choice of food was excellent and the quality of a high standard.
My bedroom was a bit 'tired' and in need of refurbishment but was warm and bed comfortable.
It rained on one day!
We absolutely fell in love with hotel & it's location. It's full of character with open log fires and wood panelling which give it a real homely feel. Breakfast was excellent with a very varied selection. The pool and spa were also very good.
