Best Western Atlantic Hotel  

Very friendly staff trying very hard.I always enjoy a stay at a Best Western Hotel and this was no different. Very nice restaurant with good staff trying hard-shame I couldn't fully enjoy dinner as I caught a bug and was mostly in bed during the stay. Nice breakfast as well.

1. The hotel is slightly reminiscent of E Wing Chelmsford Prison due to its close proximity and fairly similar architecture to the Prison. Take the wrong turn and you'll do more than a one night stay.... 2. The Wi Fi didn't work well. My Ipod could connect but not my laptop despite using the password provided- not good for business use. 3. Worn sheet on bed with holes in it

Position of the hotel is ideal for the centre of Chelmsford, staff are really good with special mention to the guys in the breakfast restaurant, nothing was too much trouble.

The wi fi didn't work in the bedrooms it was the main reason for booking the hotel as I had lots of work to do and needed Internet access, no amount of calling reception helped

The restaurant looked pretty good and I'd of liked to have tried it. Italian,

There was no lift and I had a heavy suitcase. They did offer help but I thought what the point is as I'm just as capable as a porter, but if I was advanced in years this could be a problem. The staff could be described as not exactly friendly and chatty, and I felt slightly 'in the way': Checking in was problematic as they don't let you in the room until 3 o' clock which is rare in my experience and I travel a lot. As I was going to a wedding immediately after check in, this could have been a problem. Luckily the woman checked to see if the room was ready and by chance it was, but I got the impression that they were doing me a huge favour in letting me in the room 'early' at 12:30. The next day after the wedding I got a curt polite phone call at 11:00 asking when I was planning to check out, as check out was at 11:00. I put the phone down and rushed around the room to get out before they levied a late check out charge. When I went down to check out, I said 'hi' to the woman at reception, and she looked daggers at me and told me to 'wait' as she was dealing with someone else (my friend who was also checking out). She asked me for my key (plastic card) which I didn't have, I'd left it in my hire car. If you lose your key (plastic card), they charge you five pounds. I balked at this and said it was only a plastic card; she told me that they come all the way from Germany those cards! I wasn't happy and left. The taxi driver on the way to collect my hire car confirmed my suspicions that they were a hard and “Not very nice lot” and he said I was better of going to another hotel around the corner (sorry forgot the name) I won’t be going back in a hurry. The place was clean with ample parking.

I was meeting friends in the restaurant for the evening, so it was ideal to stay overnight.

I have done similar visits before and would say that the restaurant menu/food has gone downhill. As a supposed Italian restaurant it was particularly poor. I would not be confident to recommend the restaurnt for an evening meal.

The main issue is finding it - especially in the dark A more prominent sign or clear details on the website would be good This is the main point for my responding Thanks

The hotel had my booking registered as room only despite the fact that I had agreed a price which included a fuul english breakfast. The staff then tried to charge for breakfast which was only resolved when I showed acopy of my booking form.

The room was spacious. It was quiet. Comfortable bed and easy access to the center.

The male receptionist was quiet rude and the entrance was dirty.
