Very clean. Good size room. Breakfast OK
No main meal menu
No facilities for evening meals on either of my 2 nights Delay in breakfast on first day as no bread and waited 45 minutes on second day with no sign of any breakfast and all doors locked, so had to leave without breakfast
We like the welcoming, very good cooked breakfast. We recommend it ! A Nice step on dunferline.
On arrival was given a warm welcome to this haven tucked away from the main road, but with access to all surrounding sights. Being within a short walking distance to the rail network you can forget your car and get into Edinburgh in comfort and without hassle. A great place to base yourselves without breaking the bank. Clean great breakfast, comfortable beds and more.
Friendly and accommodating staff. Comfortable room in very relaxing and quiet surroundings. Great location to get around various other parts of Scotland by train or bus.
TV sound was tinny. Bathroom shower could have had a ledge or holder for shower gel. Had to bend each time we needed to use it. There was a lot of light coming in from the bottom of the door at night. Maybe a strip could be used to block it out. The coffee was not aromatic enough for our taste.
The location was good for us as we visited Mum in a nearby Nursing Home. Value for money. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The female member of staff at reception was extremely helpful in trying to find accommodation for our other 2 nights.
The size of the room was extremely restrictive for access to the bathroom.Disappointed in the lack of selection for vegetarians ended up with microwaved scrambled eggs which were most unpleasant, though everything else good.
Very friendly enjoyed our stay
Very clean room, not far from centre, quiet location
We were not made aware of a late check out fee, it was added to our bill & had we not queried it we would never have known. When we questioned it we were simply told 'it's policy'. I strongly believe we should have been made aware of 'the policy' at check in
Very helpful and friendly
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Beds were very comfy.
Creaky floor boards rather loud
Nice clean room Good Location with friendly staff
It was a pity there was no evening meal.
Bit hard to find as sign is a little small.
peaceful surroundings, seeing the wildlife
TV's in rooms need updated
Relaxed atmosphere. Quiet location. Bohemian feel. Breakfast good.
maybe some food available In the evening. No big problem.
Quiet with car parking down a track away from main road. Bedding clean.
"Restaurant" is misleading. No evening meal meant we had to drive out to find somewhere to eat when we had planned to eat in the hotel restaurant. Tarmac track leading from the main road is badly in need of repair
great bed excellent freshly cooked breakfast
Very comfortable bed and plenty hot water. Shower on the small side but worked well. Very clean bed and towels.
Breakfast was described as continental and no mention of evening meals available for guests which meant we ate out and didn't book breakfast when in fact they were doing a full breakfast, they should market this as they are losing business. The outside of the building is nothing like the picture on the booking site. a nice place but needs to market itself better to compete with others in the area. They do offer value for money and it is a quiet location a little difficult to find down a narrow lane. Do your marketing and you will have a full hotel every night.
The Auld Mill House is a really great place to stay in Dunfermline. Rooms are very nicely decorated and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is great! Location wise, it is close to shopping and the train station which made it very easy to get to Edinburgh! Will definitely stay again when we go to Dunfermline.
Very quiet, no traffic noise.
the actual location of the hotel is further back from the main road as we thouht...maybe a different sign actually saying hotel 100yds down road would be better but it was very peaceful...would defintely go back
the television could of been bigger....breakfast could of been included in the price
Enjoyed the traditional music session
Short walk into Dunfermline itself and on our second day, we went into Edinburgh for the day, the hotel is so close to railway station it made the trip effortless. It was lovely to leave the car for a few days. The hotel was quiet despite being full, everyone very friendly. The bar was very well stocked and had a nice atmosphere. You are given a key for main door and room, which means you can come and go at any time without disturbing night porters etc.
My only concern was that our key had a disc attached with the hotel address and contact details on one side, and the room number on the other. If I had lost it when out, any car keys, ipad, ipod valuables etc left behind are fair game. I know, if this is all I didn't like, it's still not bad, eh?
A nice service very homely
I was an experienced mattress maker called a tape edger for over 20 years and have worked with the top bedding company's and the Quallity of the beds were much better than you would expect Infact I would say they beat the Hiltons beds by far for comfort also they use Eygption cotton bedding and the pillows were superbe. The staff were very kind and friendly, nothing too much trouble, the cleaner was great and very helpful.
The first impressions were false with the outside look and should not be taken that it is a dive because it's not. I believe that they need certain things doing that would complete this hotel to be worth of 3 star plus in the near future, but due to a recent family bereavement that they had when we were there they just got on with it, well done and our Simpathy for your loss. I will send my recommendations to them in a few weeks time hoping that they will endeavour to make the odd touches here and there to be a Quallity hotel of the future.
