“Alan and I ( and Finn the Doberman) had a wonderful stay at your hotel. The friendly staff, thank you Lisa, and the personalized welcome from Tony and Peter were exceptional in today's 'next please' society.”

This former church has been tastefully converted, enabling retention of the original features. The Auld Kirk Hotel is the place where you can really relax and recharge your batteries. In the restaurant, high vaulted ceilings, cathedral windows and ornate chandeliers provide a unique experience in which to enjoy traditional Scottish cuisine. Very popular with guests and locals, booking ahead is recommended. Situated in the heart of picturesque Royal Deeside this fine historic former church provides an excellent base for those wishing to tour the areas in and around Cairngorms National Park. Visit the nearby Royal residence of Balmoral, travel the famous whiskey trail or participate in the numerous countryside pursuits. Excellent and very helpful staff. A nice small hotel with great ambience. Ability to control temperature in the room. Excellent restaurant on-site - provided our best meal in Scotland. Room became slightly cluttered with our two large suitcases

The hotel came recommended to us by friends. Having only six rooms, it felt quite exclusive, and the room we stayed in was comfortable, clean and suited our every need. The staff were more than friendly, and couldn't be more friendly. We booked dinner in their restaurant, and highly recommend any guest to do likewise! The food was excellent, and good value for money. Breakfast was excellent too, with a good choice, and fresh made. Overall, our stay in The Auld Kirk was a great experience, and we will return for a weekend break again.

It was stunning and ultra clean and comfortable, lovley view and staff were so very polite and helpful, I would stay there again in a heartbeat, such a refreshing change to find a hotel with standards like this. The only thing I thought was a moinor incovenience was that the shower jets were poor.

Excellent all round. Staff were particularly friendly. Breakfast terrific and restaurant top quality and value for dinner. Window did not open very wide. Bedroom was roadside so slightly affected by road noise (not much traffice though!). Would have liked a kipper for breakfast.

The hotel was clean and tidy, quite modern and very comfortable. They were flexible when asked to allow us to book into the hotel before the usual 3pm and allowed us to enter our room at 1pm. Overall the stay was fine the only downsides were small and they were - the room was a little on the cool side and the cooked breakfast was good but not very generous - we only got half a slice of Stornaway black pudding!

The breakfast was really excellent and the waiting staff very good The building was unusual and quirky but our room seemed a bit austere - quite masculine! We stayed 4 nights. The owners were not around and noone to greet you on arrival. The restaurant it seeemed was what they were interested in rather than the B&B side of the business. It felt like we were left to it - for instance the premises were locked on Sunday and we were the only ones apparently in the building during the day and at night? Also it was advertised that the restaurant would be open on Mondays and it wasn'T. This was in August when presumably it should be peak time. Nothing really wrong with the premises but it lacked the personal touch - the ladies who did breakfast and the housekeeping however were really nice.

A beautifully converted church with just 6 rooms. The friendliness of the staff, and their helpfullness was excellent, and the evening meal, cooked "on the spot", from a small, but very attractive menu was fantastic. Being on the main Ballater rd. it was easy to find. I wouldn't hesitate in booking in in "The Auld Kirk" again, or recomending it to friends. It was unfortunate that they didn't supply the evening meal on Sunday evenings, especially as the weekend is a popular time for casual visitors.
