The twin room (no. 7) was spotlessly clean and very spacious, as was the bathroom. Beds were comfortable. Staff were friendly. There is a 'honesty bar' in operation when no-one is available to serve drinks. We didn't use this service but it is a nice touch. The Avenue is just a short walk to both the esplanade and Old Shanklin Village. We had to climb two flights of stairs to reach the room. Breakfast was okay but would have prefered it hotter!

The room is very beautiful, flower wall paper, and is big. The staff is very very nice and helpful. The location is wonderful, 2 mins walk to the beach, and 5mins to the bus station. If one day I visit Isle of Wight, I will of course choose here again The water in the bath room is not very strong

It was well situated near enough to the town and the beach to be accessable for all in our party which included two elderly relatives. Manager did change our rooms for us a the stairs would have been too much for some of our party. Staff all helpful and friendly. Very quiet at night which made for a peaceful stay. Breakfast cooked to order and staff happy to accomadate different requests from the menu. Good selection of leaflets etc for visits around the Island and we did receive a discount from one of the leaflets to one of the places we visited. In the room I stayed in the shower was very poor which was a minor irritation but otherwise the stay was very pleasant.

The accommodation was very comfortable and the staff were helpful and friendly. Everything you'd expect was available and the room was comfortable. The area was quiet even though it is a short walk to the sandy beach, shops, entertainment and places to eat. Close to the railway and bus service.

Good location, friendly staff, good base for walking holiday. Bed was a tad uncomfortable...felt we were slipping out either side. (And we're not big people.)

We received a wonderful welcome from the owners and instantly felt at home. The room was spotlessly clean and well furnished. We had a very confortable bed with fresh white sheets, and a modern and clean en suite bathroom. The breakfast was brilliant and certainly a highlight. The owners couldn't have been more helpful with any enquiries we had. We intend to return to the Isle of Wight and will stay at the Avenue again.

Welcoming and relaxed atmosphere even though there were other guests it felt like they were paying more attention to us, incredible! Breakfast was a sheer delight and a king-size bed in our room was home from home. Truly delightful. The shower was a tad small (then again as a 6'6in 19st. man most showers are a bit small) and as I cant' take my own shower with me I suppose this is just a niggle!

Our stay at the avenue was first class, everything was better than we expected, and the staff and owner were naturally friendly and helpful the room was large and the bathroom was also very good, the position of the guest house is perfect for the train and bus station. We think Shanklin is also the best place to stay, we are amazed that some people posted negative complaints. We gave it 10 out of 10. Ken Adams
