Very good,

“ Andrew at Front Reception was wonderful beyond words. He managed to move us from an inappropriately positioned room to another within a few minutes and then by the following morning had moved us to a spectacular room with an awesome view of the gorge and Suspension Bridge. ”

The bar's terrace with view of the bridge. Very good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Not enough staff at the bar on Saturday. had to wait ages for a drink. Maybe you should have table on the terrace service when it is busy?

The views were amazing (terrace was fab) and the staff were very flexible - we wanted to eat breakfast outside and they quickly set up a table for us. The staff really helped to tailor package our evening to ensure we could dine when we wanted, in time to make a show at Colston Hall and I was able to speak to the kitchen staff the day before to articulate our timings etc. Dan who worked in the Restaurant was extremely attentive to our party and was very helpful, polite and professional. Our perception of the hotel was entirely shaped by the courteous, friendly and flexible staff - they were excellent and a credit to the Avon Gorge Hotel.

The location of the hotel was great. We paid a little extra to have the view of the Gorge. Clifton itself was a lovely place to visit, lots of independent shops and cafes. The Receptionist on arrival was very helpful.

I was put in the 'President suite' - in the basement, accessed off the street round a very dark corner. As a single female I felt this was inappropriate. The suite smelled of food, was dark and dingy and not clean. I asked to change and the receptionist gave me room 133, which was comfortable but the bathroom was a bit grimy, the bathroom hairdryer didn't work and the surfaces were dusty.

The wonderful view from our terrace, the elegant room we had, with its ceiling fan and heated towel rail and wonderful shower, the tea and biscuits in our room, the terrace restaurant where we had dinner, the lavish breakfast (fabulous croissants, best I've ever had), the 25% discount card given to us for meals in the hotel, the thoughtfulness of the staff, everyone really helpful, friendly and pleasant. We will always stay there when we come to Bristol! There was nothing we didn't like!

Its in a nice location. The room is clean and functional, soothing special but nice all the same. I stayed there last year and the service in the bar/tea was terrible. Waiting ages for service, no one knows what they are doing, rude and little English. This year it is exactly the same no change at all.

All very satisfactory. I sent for info from the TIC and received a booklet - a map also would have been useful. Only about 10% of leaflets in the hotel applied to Bristol. The rest were for Bath, the South-West etc - very disappointing on the first day!

Location was excellent, the room and en-suite spacious and comfortable. We has a lovely view over the terrace and Clifton Suspension bridge. Service was a bit hit and miss at breakfast. We stayed 2 nights, service was poor on the first morning and excellent on the second.

This is me and my partners favourite hotel. When ever we can afford to stay a few nights we always stay here when we visit Bristol. We are originally from Bristol but moved cities and we often come back to see friends and family. We love the view of the suspension bridge the spaciousness of the rooms each time we get a different room. Its classy, it's friendly its perfect for couples who want to get married there. Only slight disappointment is that we think for it's location and the gorgeous view of the bridge and the prices for the rooms we think it could be made looking better some work needs doing to make it more modern and new. I cant believe it's only a 3 star hotel its should be a 4 and if they did some work to it they could achieve it. The last time we stayed in one of the rooms we were disappointed with the bed it was slanted and looked very dated how ever other rooms we have been in were lovely but deffinately need to replace all tvs to modern ones.
