The Hotel is very clean but much too expensive for its 2 star level. Family rooms at the third floor without elevator! People at the reception friendly and close to bus stops.

Location, near Heathrow express. Think it was the best price that we could find at the time. Internet didn't work at all in our room, despite this being a reason for booking. Bathroom too small altogether. No lift, staircase very narrow with narrow tread.

The staff were very nice and helpful. The room was small but had everything that we wanted. We were in the family room next to the breakfast area downstairs. There are two single beds and one double bed and a small bathroom with a great shower. Very close to Paddington station and a short walk to Edgeware Rd and Hyde Park. We enjoyed the breakfast and the coffee was very good too. Good WiFi, tv, lighting, small desk, and a most efficient bathroom. I can't overstate the vibration and sound from the underground which clearly goes right below. We were prepared for it thanks to other reviews and we had a "white noise" machine that took care of most of it so it didn't really bother us. You might think that the underground stops at midnight but trains run all night. Probably you only feel this in the downstairs rooms. The room has no ac but we opened the window and it was fine.

Kate, the woman at the desk, was fantastic and very accommadating. This is a typical older hotel, some rooms smaller than others and lots of stairs. It was clean and comfortable and super close to Paddington Station (has the Heathrow express train from here). It is on a lovely street with a tree lined park near stores, restaurants and Hyde Park. Can be noisy if your room is in the front with some street traffic nearby.

The breakfast was excellent as was the location. The young lady who was running the hotel while her boss was away was outstanding and contributed greatly to my enjoyment of the hotel. I was very unhappy when they unexpectedly tacked on 3% to my bill because I used a credit card. I actually had cash I could have used but they ran my card including the extra 3% before telling me about it. Booking.com had no information about this 3% charge and I have never seen it done elsewhere. I felt ripped off. There is no elevator in the hotel and the stairs are extremely narrow and steep so very difficult if you are not fit or if you have a heavy suitcase. Once I was there I discovered that there were other hotels in the same street that were considerably cheaper and very similar.

Very friendly staff. Great location & good breakfast. Rooms were very small, bathroom was also very small, no room to move. We were on the top floor so 79 steps to our room, we were O.k with this but un suitable for other people. Also could hear babies crying all night from the other rooms...no soundproofing.

The location close to Paddington station and the Heathrow Express The hotel is a bit creepy, the carpets, cupboards etc are really old and run down and looks not too clean although the linen and towels were clean. It is more geared to cheap holidayers and backpackers with rather than business people with breakfast only starting at 07:30. 07:00 can be an option but nothing earlier..

The staff at the hotel are very friendly, courteous and helpful - any queries about transportation, shopping, dining, etc. were all answered in depth. They are genuinely concerned about the comfort and well-being of their guests. The location is excellent for access to shopping (10 minute walk to Oxford Street), transportation (bus and trains), and hospital (St. Mary's). I had a wonderful holiday due to my stay at the Avon Hotel - it was like a home away from home.

Friendly welcoming staff, excellent breakfast and comfortable ensuite room (not large but perfectly adequate for shorter stays). We particularly like the location, just a short walk from Paddington Railway Station and on a frequent bus route into the city centre. The hotel overlooks a small park and it is all very peaceful at nightime. This is not a large hotel so, as one can reasonably expect, there is no lift. It's hardly a problem or a negative point unless one has tons of luggage!

Was really happy with the hotel. We arrived at 10AM ( 4 hours before check-in!) and was allowed to check into our room. The lady on reception was very friendly, polite and helpful. We checked in and left our bags in the room. The room was very small but had expected this from previous comments, so please don’t expect a large room to move two people around in. The bath room was tiny but still nice and clean –we also expected a small bathroom (maybe not this small) but it was practicable. We didn’t actually stay the night, (not the hotels fault – the man on reception seemed shocked we were leaving at 2130 after paying a small fortune to stay on new years eve) the pubs round by Paddington had shut at 9pm for private functions so no where apart from steak houses to drink. The embankment and leister square was PACKED beyond belief. So we left as no where to drink near hotel. Again not hotels fault . But first impressions was really pleased. Would use again and hopefully stay! View wasn’t great, we had a room facing away from the entrance... Sadly the doors were thin and when leaving our room we could hear every thing being said in next doors.

Good breakfast The room was tiny and in the basement with the result that every few seconds you could hear the underground trains passing beneath the room. This would make it virtually impossible mfor many people to get to sleep.

I am impressed with this hotel!! The three most important things for me 1) Cleanliness: the room/bed/toilet was clean on arrival, towels were provided, soap and shampoo also provided. I was going to ask for more soap and shampoo after touring the city on 2nd day but the hotel had already replenished them when I came back from touring so it saved me the trouble of having to ask. My single room had enough space to move about. 2) Security: the doors are sturdy enough that you don't need to worry about them being kicked in. The doors are locked with a deadbolt type of lock. 3) Private toilet and shower: clean upon arrival what more can i say. Shower and bathroom has enough room to move about so you won't bang your elbow. They even made my bed while I was out. I agree with the hotel that they should not waste money and pollute the environment to change sheets/towels every day while I am staying there. I think they should only change sheets/towels when I leave or upon request. English brekkie- bacon, sausage, egg, beans, tomato, mushroom, toast, and/or Continental brekkie included in price. :) The receptionist really helpful she provided a map and areas of interest, buses to take, recommend food around the neighbourhood. Highly recommend this hotel I will definitely stay here again next time I am in London. From Canada.

Proximity to Paddington Station They didn't tell you that they were above the Tube station and your room would be vibrating and you could hear the trains right underneath you

Some people suggest noise from the underground is a problem at this hotel. Maybe it varies from room to room, but I only found a gentle rumble in Room 17 (ground floor behind reception). Either no trains run before 5:45am; or they were running, but the noise & vibration was too low to wake me. The hotel is between Paddington station & Edgware Road. Edgware Road tube is a quarter of a mile away. The 'buses from Oxford Street stop in the road to the side of the hotel. The main shopping area (Oxford Street) is within reasonable walking distance. The full English breakfast is good & there are uncooked alternatives available; e.g. pastries, cheese, bananas, yoghurts. Hidden extra: 3% added to bill for paying by credit card.

Location is great. However, there are lots of similar hotels in this area which are charging less. It is worth noting that the staff tries very hard to be friendly. But they cant explain clearly why despite my booking being a 'Free Cancelation' option - they immediately charged my credit card for the full amount of my stay 2 months ahead of my stay. Booking.Com contacted this hotel asking for a refund and the hotel conveniently ignored this request. If you are not keen to maneuver 79 steps to get to your room, especially when lugging a heavy suitcase, you should not choose this hotel.

Very courteous staff, coped well considering a full hotel was wanting breakfast at the same time. Room had all we needed, but was extremely small and everything was just about squeezed in. Will be spending more next time for more comfort and to guarantee better nights sleep.
