The location is nearby university of birmingham
The facilities are not in a good condition.
Ideal location for University
Very old fashioned hotel with very tired decor
This place is not a hotel, it is a B & B. Very overpriced for the facilities. The place is pretty shabby and needs a good clean & decorate. My room had a nasty smell - dirty, musty and unclean.
Close to the university.
I made the booking, and the first thing my colleague asked when we arrived was "did Herman Munster live here ?"
It was in a good location, wifi worked well.
I was on 2nd floor. No offer to carry my bag upstairs. No bedside table, no bedside light, no bedside light switch. Shared shower room and toilet. Shower door did not close properly and no bath at.
On a quiet little road, looks like a family business. My room was nice, yet a bit cold. Everything was nice and clean: the bed, the floor, the kettle, the sink, the toilet room. For a cheap hotel, it's very good. Staff was very friendly.
My room was on the ground floor and the receptionist spoke loudly on the corridor with late coming guests. I wasn't sleeping, but it was late already. Yet, I'd still recommend this little hotel.
The bed was comfortable and warm.
The room temperature. The outside temperature was on 5c and yet the central heating was not on. Since there was no double-glazing, there was a lot of condensation on the windows and the bathroom was cold.
The place was so in need modernisation it was like stepping back in time by at least 80 years
Location, cleanliness, no nonsense place to stay
English breakfast was not worth the price charged
I was at a conference at Birmingham University and this hotel is ideally located for that purpose. Just a short walk from the university yet in a quiet, leafy side-street. The cooked breakfast was also fantastic.
No ensuite toilet meant a walk downstairs when I needed to use the loo, but with a 2-star I suppose you can't expect luxury.
The easy-going, peaceful atmosphere. I stayed in this area for old times' sake, as I lived there as a boy, and it enabled me to have a "trip down memory lane". Comfortable bed, and excellent breakfast.
For an en-suite single room it was over-priced, being too small for there to be anywhere even to open a travelling case without putting it on the bed.
Close to Birmingham University (I was visiting the British Science Festival there). Nice, comfortable, functional accommodation. Having a shower and sink in the room was handy.
Some of the rooms are ensuite but they were all booked. The toilet was just down the corridor so it wasn't really a problem. There was no vent in the room so everything got steamed up when the shower was on. Had to leave the window open afterwards for it to dissipate.
The position of the house and the grounds were nice.
Bed far to soft Prefer en-suite
Old Fashioned & Out Dated.
Good, cheap breakfast
#1.The term of cancellation fee is unfair #2. The bed sheet was not replaced with a new thing during my stay for 9 nights.
Very bad staff, very rude. Worst room ever, a ridiculous shower cube in the room without toilet. After I decided to cut my stay short seeing the ridiculous room, the owner decided to over charged me for the one night I stayed.
The hotel location is good.
The staff was very unfriendly. The full breakfast we bought was not good.
The building from the outside was impressive - a grand Victorian (?) detached house set in a leafy avenue, a 10 minute walk from the University campus.
Tiny room; not ensuite - loo was down a flight of stairs in a corridor. I was asked to pay the moment I walked through the door. Although the husband and wife owners were friendly enough, there was no customer service apart from 'would you like tea or coffee with your breakfast?' No evening meal offered or info in rooms of where to eat in local area, or anything else about the local area. This is a less than average B&B branded as a hotel.
STAFF IS NICE, AND THE ROOM IS VERY COMFORT
I liked the comfort in the room.
There is no soap or shampoo in the bathroom and you can hear people talking in next room.
Location was perfect for us
Room was a bit cold at night
TV included, Illuminated hotel sign (easy for taxi to find)
Didn't get escorted to room, Cleaner entered in the morning without knocking.
the location, the price and the fact that it was clean
the shower in the bedroom and the shared bathroom were a bit of a nightmare. Had i been staying for more than 1 night I would have found this problematic
