Bed Breakfast Location Price £59 B & B
Hotel closed and deserted at 15.10 when we arrived with no note or indication of when or if it would be open. When we returned at 16.15 and knocked loudly on the door because the bell didn't appear to work, the first words from the proprietor were 'who's banging on my door?' She then gave us our key and requested payment in advance. Although the bed was comfortable, the room was very basic and the bedroom door emitted a very loud squeak whenever anyone got up in the night to go to the toilet on the landing, so awakening the other sleeping person.
Landlord was extremely helpful as we arrived after 2.30am! Good Location!
Bed was uncomfortable but it for only for a few hours so bearable! Would not say it was a hotel, more like a B&B as bathroom, toilet etc was shared!
Friendly young waitress, that really did her best.
Shabby Tired Overgrown garded Having to pay- before seeing room cups in room filthy
Breakfast was very nice
The room we were in felt like a set of servants quarters and weren't very arp for our usage.
Close to Birmingham University
beds were from the agony range, shower was quite literally a cubicle in the room with zero privacy - toilet was across the hall. Felt like we were intruding into someone's house more so than being welcome guests. Reminded me why budget hotels are cheap.
quality place to relax
Matresses very old and uncomfortable.
landlord and landlady were brilliant. the breakfast was made to suit and was excellent.
the shower was like Chinese torture water was extremely slow
The location is nearby university of birmingham
The facilities are not in a good condition.
Everything was fine. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were very good.
I think the hotel should not charge on the breakfast if the customers fails to take it on a morning. There should be a way to refund the amount.
Ideal location for University
Very old fashioned hotel with very tired decor
This place is not a hotel, it is a B & B. Very overpriced for the facilities. The place is pretty shabby and needs a good clean & decorate. My room had a nasty smell - dirty, musty and unclean.
Close to the university.
I made the booking, and the first thing my colleague asked when we arrived was "did Herman Munster live here ?"
It was in a good location, wifi worked well.
I was on 2nd floor. No offer to carry my bag upstairs. No bedside table, no bedside light, no bedside light switch. Shared shower room and toilet. Shower door did not close properly and no bath at.
On a quiet little road, looks like a family business. My room was nice, yet a bit cold. Everything was nice and clean: the bed, the floor, the kettle, the sink, the toilet room. For a cheap hotel, it's very good. Staff was very friendly.
My room was on the ground floor and the receptionist spoke loudly on the corridor with late coming guests. I wasn't sleeping, but it was late already. Yet, I'd still recommend this little hotel.
The bed was comfortable and warm.
The room temperature. The outside temperature was on 5c and yet the central heating was not on. Since there was no double-glazing, there was a lot of condensation on the windows and the bathroom was cold.
The place was so in need modernisation it was like stepping back in time by at least 80 years
Location, cleanliness, no nonsense place to stay
English breakfast was not worth the price charged
I was at a conference at Birmingham University and this hotel is ideally located for that purpose. Just a short walk from the university yet in a quiet, leafy side-street. The cooked breakfast was also fantastic.
No ensuite toilet meant a walk downstairs when I needed to use the loo, but with a 2-star I suppose you can't expect luxury.
The easy-going, peaceful atmosphere. I stayed in this area for old times' sake, as I lived there as a boy, and it enabled me to have a "trip down memory lane". Comfortable bed, and excellent breakfast.
For an en-suite single room it was over-priced, being too small for there to be anywhere even to open a travelling case without putting it on the bed.
Close to Birmingham University (I was visiting the British Science Festival there). Nice, comfortable, functional accommodation. Having a shower and sink in the room was handy.
Some of the rooms are ensuite but they were all booked. The toilet was just down the corridor so it wasn't really a problem. There was no vent in the room so everything got steamed up when the shower was on. Had to leave the window open afterwards for it to dissipate.
The position of the house and the grounds were nice.
Bed far to soft Prefer en-suite
Old Fashioned & Out Dated.
Good, cheap breakfast
