breakfast options are cornflakes or English breakfast, after a week I would be happy for something else or more vegetables/fruits
No mirror in bedroom, had to ask for one. Shower room cramped, no shelf, and to keep wash things on the toilet cistern. We both asked for English breakfast, but no beans. When it arrived there was no sausage. 1 egg and 1 piece of bacon and half a tomato was not worth £7.
Dirty, old musk smell in room, very old bed linen, as soon as you arrive was made to feel unwelcome by lady, poor breakfast, not worth the money cannot even cook a fried egg right. Does not serve an evening meal, had to walk nearly to 2 miles to find first place to eat. Surely this place cannot be called Hotel, it is a B&B.,
Location Parking Comfy bed
Separate bathroom Decor very dated and a little too scruffy for my comfort Noise from other guests and the content of their loud conversations
Close to the University. Very quiet and green quarter Tea and coffee facilities in the room.
Bed could be more comfortable.
Their cancellation message was rude. People are already upset at having to change their plans. They could as least have been polite - 'We're very sorry but ...'
Sadly not a very good stay. This establishment needs and upgrade.
Close to the university and parking.
Dingy decor, very old style(70's flowery bedding that didn't match) Mould marks around the shower cubicle grouting. Very short wire on electric kettle making it dangerous to boil the kettle on the bedside unit. Had to use the floor. Bedside light in single room didn't work.Broken drawer handle on chest of drawers. Badly painted woodwork...giving the impression of being grubby. My son said that his sheet was stained & slept on top of the duvet. All in all, this could be a super place if some money was spent on it. Great pity. Plus it was not cheap...VAT was added after the price had been quoted.£60 for a twin room, £48 for a single room with a portashower in the room and no wc.We were asked to pay before getting the keys to the rooms. I thought I was getting a single with en-suite.Toilet on floor below. A poor choice on my part. Would not recommend.
An excellent location for Birmingham University.
Somewhat noisy plumbing or ventilation system during the night.
the location to the city centre and the pubs and curry houses on the Bristol road my old haunts
the standards of the hotel more like a guest house there is a good guest house on the next street on the way to the hotel and the high price of the breakfast I could get it cheaper on the main road
Breakfast was acceptable. Free parking available. Free wifi.
On booking, nothing was mentioned about bathroom. So we supposed it was included. However, on arrival, we discovered that the bathroom was common with 3 other rooms! We tried to change it. The landlord answered that we knew on booking and he had no other rooms in which additional bed was possible to add from 2 to 3. On next morning, no hot shower! The landlord said it was repared the day before and he forgot to switch it on! Moreove, the room was extremely tiny for 3. No table. No wardrobe.

Just wish the rooms were larger.
Lovely green peaceful location
- Cheap - Nothing wrong with the facilities (but equally nothing special - you get what you pay for) - Very clean - Shower had good pressure and temperature
- Breakfast - the cooked breakfast wasn't particularly wonderful, and you are strangely only allowed 1 of each "thing" you order (eg. you order bacon, you get 1 rasher of bacon on a plate). If I stayed here again I wouldn't have breakfast in house - you will get better for less money at the "Selly Sausage" on Bristol Road (5 minutes walk away)
Location was brilliant to visit university and owners kindly allowed us to park all day following our overnight stay. It was a quiet and pretty area. Breakfast was very nice.
Lack of ensuite facilities, however bearing in mind the very reasonable price this is not really an issue.
Location, price, full breakfast
The location was near our destination. The bed was comfy.
The creaky floor boards were annoying and having to go down the corridor for the toilet was bad for the price the room was. The bedroom could of been a little cleaner like carpets and drawers. The shower room had mould in it. The lady at breakfast was rude. So wont be visiting again.
Hospitality. Location to University campus.
The shower jet was low quality. No shelf or soap dish in shower cubicle.
It was quiet. Ability to open the window for fresh air unlike grander places. Was left to come and go as I liked.
Lumpy bed could have done with a mattress topper.
The classic FM music at breakfast.
T.v picture breaking up all the time. En suite too small . Toilet seat not fitting well.
Clean, comfortable and very handy for the university which was what we wanted. Staff pleasant and a nice breakfast.
Although we didn't really need for our overnight visit the t..v. didn't work. I would also have been useful to have a mirror in the bedroom so that I could do my hair etc whilst my husband was in the shower room.
The location is very convenient for Birmingham University campus. Quiet, leafy street- quiet at night so able to sleep well. Free wifi
No hairdrier or iron in bedroom. The coffee served at breakfast was disgusting- the water tasted burnt, as if the kettle had been boiled dry. Only allowed to have hash browns for breakfast if you select the vegetarian option.
Decent breakfast Conveniently located near Edgbaston campus Friendly staff
Immediate surroundings quite dilapidated Very small room Could use some maintenance
Great position just out of city centre in a lovely leafy safe part of Birmingaham, also very near University,Edgbaston for the cricket, and for me Edgbastion Priory for the Tennis. Also near my favourite about 10min walk The Selly Oak Arms well worth a visit.Staff were all very pleasant and friendly, and full English Breakfast was a great start to the day.The room i had was a good size with tv,enough storage space for me,bed was comfortable and the room was nice and clean. The en-suite was a bit on the small size, but again clean etc.safe on site parking so overall good value for money to stay somwhere nice and quiet but still close enough to everything. This was my 8th visit for the tennis and first time staying here and i will hopefully return there in the years to come.
As mentioned en-suite rather small, not to much of a problem for me but some people might find it a little tricky.
quite location in a very pleasant area. staff very informative as to local pubs restaurant/takeaways
tv kept losing signal no en-suit in my room
