George (the owner) was very welcoming and ensured we enjoyed our stay. He was also very knowledgeable and gave great suggestions of what to do in the city, where to park etc. Room was clean and tidy with tea and coffee facilities, there was running hot water and breakfast was great!
A little bit far to walk into the city center, however George can tell you where to find free and cheap parking.
Friendly staff, clean, comfortable, good location.
Comfortable, spacious room. Fitted three full size men comfortably. The room was quiet because it was at the back of the property.
The decor was a bit shabby but perfectly ok for a guest house.
Location was good
Had booked double room..but when arrived, told there was only small double or twin. Took small room for same price as double, but was tiny..bathroom was so small. was given breakfast at no extra cost because of this.
They charge me 5% extra from my credit card even without telling me in advance. Most of time there is no one in the reception that we can ask questions.
The beds were clean and ok. We did not have a key to our room. The carpet was dirty. The bathroom poor. High prize for a room away from the centre.
The room was ensuite, staff friendly.
It is not easily accesed by bus from the train, so I had to take a taxi. But the next day when I walked to the station, the walk wasn't very long, about 30 minutes or so. I think it could do with a cheaper price or included breakfast.
clean and staff very nice
On the ground floor. Gave us choice of rooms. Gave good advice on location of nearby pub for meals.
The hor water was inoperative on the second morning. The landlord checked and said it was working. He did not admit that he had turned it back on as it was working when we fort back to our room
Hospitality and accommodation.
Was not able to get wifi connection in the evening.
This is a very basic B&B for which I was charged just under £100 for a room in the annex, breakfast was extra!!. Despite having given prior warning of the texpected time of my arrival the B&B was unmanned and locked when I arrived. Somebody eventually turned up to let me in after 2 phone calls and almost a half hour wait(I subsequently discovered that the guest house is generally unmanned). Thankfully it was a dry evening otherwise I would have been soaked as I had taken a taxi. I certainly didn't get the warm welcome as advertised and I was furious to find out that 100% of the room charge had been charged to my credit card at the time of my booking. My room turned out to be not in the main building but in the Annex, a converted house 2 doors away from the B&B. What a dismal place. The accomodation is no better than student accommodation with very tired looking furniture and bed linen. Whilst the sheets on the bed appeared freshly laundered my duvet cover sported two very suspicious stains - of the botty variety I would guess. I certainly won't be staying there again and would not recommend the place to anyone.
George & his staff made us very welcome.
The room was terrible !! Separate to the main hotel it felt like student digs ! The furniture was basic & old fashioned & the curtains were falling down ! If this room had been half the price we paid it would have been almost acceptable but the value for money was extremely poor !
This place is filthy dirty and I wouldn't tell anyone to stay there! I was refused a refund even though it was filthy and my face was full of bites!
Convenient location, friendly staff, free off-road parking, delicious breakfast, value for money.
Access into room was difficult with a large case.
Does exactly what it says on the tin. Lovely hosts, clean, tidy good value. No complaints at all.
very friendly place to stay - would definitely recommend
While the property was deemed AA 4* we were told on arrival that we were staying in the Annexe which is a separate property 2 doors down. This is best described as a student house. Nothing redeeming about it whatsoever. While on first appearances it didn't seem to bad we discovered it needed a great deal of tidying up. We were kept awake all night by the busy road outside as our room was at the front of the property. The pillows were lumpy and the mattress made you think you was sleeping on a trampoline. The curtains were of a light colour and don't meet in the middle resulting in so much light in the room it was daytime 24 hours a day. The ensuite had a musty smell all the time as it was obviously a converted cupboard space and there wasn't adequate ventilation in there as the extractor fan in there didn't do a satisfactory job. In fact it would appear all the extractor fans in the property droned on and off through the night as guests used the WC/Shower. As I said earlier it's obviously a converted wardrobe space so showering etc was a complete nightmare. We didn't complain to the owners as we stopped only one night and just wanted to get the hell out of there and get home as soon as possible. I would never stay there again.
Good location; good breakfast (although this is extra); friendly staff.
Decoratively very tired looking; would definitely benefit from some updating.
Being shown to an "annex" that was a semi detached house separate from the Lodge, and a dead wasp that was on a window sill for the Two days we were there
Room was quite small and decor could do with a refresh. But if they did so would need would need to raise rates. So overall good value for money.
Matchbox size toilet. Not comfortable at all. For 90 pound per day rate, we expected a better room. Room was small. Travellodge or any other budget hotel would have been better than this home converted lodge set up
Staff were very polite. Breskfast was great.
The mattress on the bed was not in good condition.
