An excellent small country hotel, with very good food and a very friendly set of staff, we'd give it 5*'s for everything - so of course will have to stay there again! Well done Mr and Mrs Varley.

Room (4) lovely big room, very comfortable beds. Staff friendly an attentive. Great parking and only a short stroll to the village.

Bathroom could have done with a proper shower over the bath.

Felt rushed at breakfast

Owner and staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Our evening meal was selected from a thoughtfully put together menu, it was well cooked and presented. I am not a wine expert but the cellar appears extensively stocked with good quality examples and the house wine we had was excellent. Breakfast was a real treat.

Not very easy to walk back from village at night - no pavement on main road (obviously no fault of hotel!) Couldn't find hairdryer in room

The whole relaxing ambience of the hotel; the warm, friendly welcome with attention to luggage-carrying; the courtesy of the staff; the excellent quality and presentation of the food; the comfort of the bed and the lakeland-view picture on the bedroom-wall; the delightful second lounge on the first floor with magnificent view; the setting of the hotel in open countryside.

The hotel is first class and the food for Dinner and Breakfast were culinary delights. The location is away from everything and very relaxed. The staff provide a service way above what can be classed as the norm. friendly, courteous and nothing seems too much for them.
