This is a well-run but not pretentious hotel. Our room was very comfortable but what made it stand out was the attentiveness of the staff: the Manager, Ben, deserves 5 stars alone for his warm welcome and willingness to 'go the extra mile' for his guests. We would definitely recommend you to eat in the hotel as the food is superb (and streets ahead of the other pubs and restaurants in the area) and the restaurant is elegant and relaxing, with lovely views and crystal glassware. If you're thinking of stopping over in the Lake District, we would recommend you give it a try. We'll definitely be going back.

We arrived at the end of a very wet and tiring drive and we were welcomed at the door and our tiredness and stress disappeared. Our luggage was taken to our room while we were able to enjoy a reviving drink in the comfortable bar area. The attentiveness of the staff throughout our stay was excellent and we commented on how well trained everyone was. We felt that there was a genuine regard for the comfort of the guests without any superficial responses. There was a very nice balance of making sure our needs were met whilst our privacy was respected. The food was also very well presented and cooked and very enjoyable.

A relatively secluded location which was perfect for us. Peace, quiet, attentive staff who offered to carry our bags to the room as soon as we got into the reception area! Excellent dinner and the service was faultless! We shall return annually!

Wonderful hotel - the room was very comfortable, the service excellent and the food delicious. The hotel was an extremely comfortable place to stay and relax - with a roaring fire in the reception hall and an excellent standard of decor throughout. Would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. Having to leave.

The service was friendly and efficient. The owner was very helpful and friendly. The Hotel is in a beautiful location. It is everything you could ask for in a small Hotel. The bathroom in room 12 was a little cold and there wasn't a shower. This did not spoill our enjoyment, but I wouldn't like to stay in that room in the winter.

We enjoyed the relaxed country feel. The staff were all excellent, attentive and friendly. This was a great place for a couple to unwind, visit the peaceful countryside, enjoy southern lakes and coastal bird watching. Meals were super standard and very good generous portions, served in a lovely dining room. Comfortable lounge with delicious "treats" with after dinner coffee! Breakfast had a generous portions, good choice and range. No faults or detractions.

Pleasant, welcoming staff who took a continuing interest in their guests during their stay. Attention to detail within the housekeeping department is to be commended. The visit would have be enhanced with the provision of modern day shower facilities.

The standards have been consistently high over the past 25years that we have been staying. It presents all the best of a family run hotel with a totally personal service and attention to detail. The only downside was the bed in our room it was exceptionally uncomfortable.

Very comfortable small country hotel. The level of personal service was excellent as was the food, both in terms of quantity and quality. The location, just outside Cartmel, was ideal for exploring the area. I would have liked a proper shower facility in the en-suite.

Attention of the staff - excellent service. Excellent food sourced locally wherever possible - staff knew about the food and were able to answer questions about it. Not a complaint, just a suggestion. Better signage for finding it.

We enjoyed the beauty of the setting, the quiet elegance of the hotel, the friendly and efficient service and the comfort of the room. Cartmel is perhaps the prettiest lttle town in the north-west, and Aynsome Manor is the perfect complement to it.
