Brill little b&b good location very friendly reasonable prices very clean couldn't ask for anything else
I had arrived very late after unforeseen circumstances, nearly 11 pm, the staff were very accommodating and I didn't feel rushed to my room. I was made to feel welcome despite the hour. The mornings cooked breakfast was excellent value, and the beds were very conmfortable
Room fittings quite tired and corridors smelt musty.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The location was central and great for the High Street. Breakfast was substantially and being included in the room rate was a positive.
The room wasn't the cleanest.
Location, welcome and helpfulness
Bar closed at 11 pm, some areas are ready for a refurbishment.
Bed extremely comfortable. Room nice and quiet. Staff made us feel really welcome and couldn't do enough for us. Food was excellent, especially the breakfast. All in all excellent value for money. Going to book back in for our 1st anniversary next year!
Tradional pub inn
Interior not very well maintained in terms of estetics. Dusty.
Great Location Friendly Staff Nice atmosphere.
A bit laid back if you are in a hurry! (willl only apply to business travellers)
5 minutes from my evening's entertainment.
Dust, dirt and cobwebs, even a disposable razor still in the shower cubicle. Large sopping wet patch on the bedroom floor. Curtains didn't fully close meaning no privacy from people using beer garden just outside my window. Thin walls. Could see daylight through room door so imagine very cold in winter.
the lighting in the room is quite insufficient for working on the desk
Great hotel wirh a friendly welcome. Fantastic location for all attractions in Newbury. Have already bookwd foe next year.
Bathroom could be better
The location and the food.
The carpets were dirty, you could see where tbey had not been vacumed. They had two real ales, but one was kff, but the staff thought it was OK
The entire place was so dirty you did not want to touch anything, you would have to see to believe, we could not open the windows, therefore no ventilation, if we could have opened the window, the window sill was so filthy, we would be breathing dirt, and that was not from the scaffolding that was on the front. Staff was very friendly, but not follow through on a tv problem we had, the room location had no ventilation at all and the smell was awful. Breakfast was fair to poor, Sally and her partner were very friendly, they assured us that if we spoke to them about problems they would have taken care of it, but all they said was the building was 400 years old, but there is no excuse for lack of cleanliness. Would never stay there again, and will now think twice about Marstons because of the Bacon Arms.
Lunch was lovely, staff were nice
Bed was rock hard, street noise really bad, net curtains were filthy, shower didn't work properly, booked out after one night (was booked in for two) upstairs smelt damp!! Gave breakfast a miss as it looked awful, I wouldn't stay here again or recommend anyone else to
The place is very very tired. I used to frequent this pub 50 years ago as my local. Very disappointed in the demise of the place. It has lost its character completely.
Food was excellent, staff were very welcoming. Service was great.
Rooms were good but there were some cobwebs above the bed. Besides that couldn't complain.
The smell of the rooms was mouldy, shower was slow, lighting was poor with bulbs missing and the place looked worn out and messy!
The shower was naf
Breakfast good, staff very helpful and friendly
Room smelled of damp and was situated outside right next to the beer garden/smoking area where people were stood directly outside my room talking until 1.30am.
Close to town centre , i found my room clean and comfortable , staff were friendly . Excellent value for money . Good choice of cask beers on sale in bar
All the staff were incredibly friendly, and helpful. The bed was clean and comfortable.
The general state of cleanliness was surprisingly poor.. The stair carpets were filthy. The skirting boards in bedroom were thick with dust .The bathroom light did not work and the plug could not be removed from the sink.
All of it
None of it
Food good, Value for money Good, Position in town very handy.
