quality of food ,excellent staff ,great location fantastic views from a really comfortable room
Ash welcomed us with a smile - apologised for a problem with original booking and provided us with a sea view instead! excellent service, lovely bar area, relaxing decor. Dinner was delicious, attentive but not invasive service in lovely setting. Room spotless, stunning view, comfortable and again, relaxing decor.
Silly small kettle in room and lack of bottled water... tap water tasted disgusting.
We were in an end room so view from the side , not front full view of the sea, but nonetheless, we had a side on view of the lovely barmouth sea, which was nice. The best breakfast ever!! Very nice.
We were in a room where the windows were yet to be done up as the new owners try and get around the building with repairs, a lengthy and expensive task. We understand that now, but at the time the black around the old windows was not pleasant, and bathroom floor a bit grubby. Carpets up the stairs and into the rooms probably next on list to be changed, but rooms definitely not sound proof. Could hear man in next room snoring!!
excellent views from the hotel on the bay. comfortable rooms
Not enough guest some nights for the restaurant to be open. When open and even if very few tables are occupied the staff is rushed, does not take order or not efficiently and atmosphere is not relaxing. Cold and not cosy : deco/lighting does not make for a comfortable atmosphere. Stayed before and got the same impression. rooms are comfortable but had diner in a pub were the single waitress managed 12 tables flawlessly. the hotel staff nedd to go there to see how it is done.
Bedroom was a generous size, clean and comfortable Food in the hotel was good Friendly Staff
Lounge area felt a little unfriendly but it could have been because the hotel wasn't fully booked
Room views overlooking the bay. Great restaurant / food. Excellent and friendly staff. Excellent power shower.
It was right by the coast a good location to get everywhere
No bar no cell phone coverage no land line phones in bedroom small tv
Overall a very pleasant stay. The staff were very helpful and attentive, food was excellent. The hotel is very close to Barmouth amenities and a very short walk to the beach. Definitely recommend and will be booking again for a weekend getaway next year.
I really can't think of anything!

wonderful views, huge comfortable bed, friendly service, good food
a change of evening menu over a stay of a few days would have been appreciated.
The staff were really helpful The breakfast was good for those like my husband who like a big cooked one and great buffet for me who doesn't! The evening meals in the restaurant were really tasty. The view was amazing of the estuary and so quiet inside the hotel it was truly tranquil.
There was nothing to not like!
The location with the view. The modern style of well thought out furnishing and decor. The staff. The food
The bed mattress was too firm and there were no additional pillows. In the bathroom there was sealant that needed replacing.
The views Decor Cleanliness Breakfast
Hard mattress Inconsistent manager
The hotel had huge amount of character, that had been modernised to a high standard whilst still retaining the original charm and features. The rooms were a really good size and the breakfast was excellent.
The only small issue was that the bed in our room was slightly too hard so I struggled to get a really good nights sleep.
Lovely hotel, staff very friendly and helpful, room was comfortable, breakfast was really good
Friendly staff who were more than happy to help. A cozy atmosphere which gives a homely feeling with reams of comfort. The standard of food and presentation were outstanding.
The standard of the finished décor let the the venue down as it appeared unfinished. Water marks on the ceilings gave the impression of plumbing problems and water leakages.
Found the hotel staff friendly, comfortable. Good views from our room. Food was good (not for kids) but had to wait quite some time for our table which was booked. Would stay again but not for a meal.
Choice of food for children limited, pizza was frozen and overdone.
The view from our room was spectacular, ample free parking and access to surrounding locations easy except for parking at Harlech Castle. Staff very helpful.
Getting luggage up the stairs to our room was not easy
Excellent restaurant. Quiet, spacious, comfortable room, sensible convenient bathroom. Good location, lovely view.
Loved the location and views.Staff were very helpful.Food was excellent.Ash went out of his way to ensure that we enjoyed our stay particularly as our party included my elderly parents.
Excellent breakfast. Good quality evening meals.Service in the restaurant was always good. The location overlooking the estuary is magnificent, worth paying extra for sea view rooms. The hotel is within a few minutes walk of Barmouth centre where there are several restaurants and at least one decent pub.
Restaurant appears unable or unwilling to cope with many diners at the same time. You may need to wait an hour or more for a table even though only two or three are in use. The hotel serves reasonably priced drinks in the lounge or garden, but there is no bar area for residents and lacks any atmosphere. There was very limited drawer space in the bedroom, which was otherwise well equipped. Outside lights were turned off when the hotel was locked at 11.00 making the steep twisting stairs to the doorway hazardous.
the cleanliness and staff
The bathroom and early morning light to the bedroom. Thicker curtains will make a better sleep. The hotel was on a hill side, luckily i was driving.
Great staff, the waiters are nice and helpful and cheerful. And Ash is a great front man for the Bae Abermau, remembers customers, a sense of humour and always there to help.
