Shower was slightly blocked, causing shower tray to fill up. Also room draughty at night.
Good breakfast Warm room Lovely bathroom
Pillow so enormous it was impossible to sleep on. Fortunately there was a single bed in the room so I could take a normal sized pillow from it to use. Otherwise I would have had to ask reception for one.
Bathroom, nice decor, good brekfast
Room a bit on the small side
Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. Close proximity to town and restaurants. Excellent breakfast and serving staff. The showers in the rooms.
Quiet location easy parking
comfy bed. clean room. polite and helpful staff
Great location, breakfast lovely, staff brilliant couldnt do enough for us, hotel nice and clean, will definately stay again.
First time in Whitby brilliant hotel. friendly staff ..Breakfast delicious will definitely return
friendly staff Good Location Quiet Parking Great Breakfast
When we arrived (by car) we didn't know where to go. There was no indication on YOUR information that Bagdale Hotel & Bagdale Lodge were 100 yards apart up a steep hill. Booking information must make it clear that it is two separate buildings.
From when i first arrived the friendliness and accommodating staff made me very welcome and even offered to upgrade my room to a main hall room with 4 poster bed To the next morning reception where the dining room staff were more than accommodating in my personal dietary needs to advice on local spots to visit and restaurants As for the room ! it was absolutely top of the range both in size, quality and location with nice view out of the window which added to the magic of the whole regal atmosphere and stay
Hotel at great location in close proximity to the main areas of Whitby. Lodge accomodation basic but ok. Free parking - park the car and leave it for the weekend.Breakfast very tasty but the dining area was 'dingy' and could do with a good clean: cobwebs etc
No seating in the room apart from vanity. Very hot room - needs A.C. Same key to front door of the access to the Lodge,as room door - does everybody have the same keys/locks? Steep hill up to the Bagdale Lodge from the main hotel. We were offered - at an additional £30.00 per night for a room in the main hotel - it had a water feature and a 4 poster bed. I think the water feature had been resolved but redecoration was needed.
We upgraded to the main building and may i say it was worth every penny. The room ,the service and the breakfast .The staff deserve a big fat pat on the back.
If i had to say anything negative then with a heavy heart it would be that the restaurant in the evening was a tad expensive
Location was good but the Lodge where we stayed was an annexe to Bagdale hotel and this was not made clear at time of booking.
Room was very basic, not good value for money. Shower was a trickle. Had to go down the hill for meals at the hotel, this would have been inconvenient had the weather been wet. Breakfast on day 1 was excellent but was minimal on day two. The same would be expected every day for the price.
The hotel was lovely with friendly staff Restaurant was clean Room was clean but small Location was excellent
Bar closed at 11am on Saturday night
Noise from commercial premises next door... damp and peeling paintwork in room. plain white cheap duvet cover.... mould in shower..
Friendlyness of all staff made you very welcome Room cleanliness was exceptionally good
Thought the cost of drinks was very high for Whitby and as such the bar facilities were not very busy
The layout of the Hotel. The Rooms. The dining
Ibooked a small double room in the lodge area and should have booked a double single beds for my preference .
Closeness to centre of town and the history of buildings.
Could have had better thicker pillows.
The breakfast and staff were excellent. Rooms clean.
The rooms were very basic for the price. A bit 'meh' The weird fire doors feel like being in a council building, despite the outdoor aesthetics of the lodge.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was of a good standard although the menu could have been more varied on a evening .Rooms were comfortable and very clean. Location spot on for amenities.
The bar was understaffed with the barperson having to cover everything else as well . On Monday 08/09/14 we went to the bar about 10pm and found the Hotel door locked . As we couldn't get in we went to a pub in the town. This is just not on . Its not as though it was midnight , so if you want a drink get in early before they lock you out.
The staff were really friendly. The location near the bus and train stations and the town centre was perfect, as this was a car-free holiday. Beds were comfortable. Cooked breakfasts appeared to be freshly prepared, and was tasty.
Our room (32) was incredibly hot the first evening, and we couldn't find any obvious reason for this. It was less so other days, but still on the warm side. Minor niggles:-The bathroom needed a few minor bits of plumbing maintenance - a noisy drip within the cistern; the cold tap in the basin rotates as it turns on; the flow of hot water in the basin was unpredictable; at the showerhead much of the water just spills round the rather than going thro the spray hole.
That we could walk into town comfortably. There was adequate parking, the room was spotlessly clean, staff were extremely helpful.
The three steep steps to access the lodge had no handrail and would be a problem for anyoe on their own who was unsure of their stability. The worst problem was that we had a double room, costing £129, but nowhere to sit. There was one small dressing stool which would not facilitate being sat on for any period of time, but no chairs. The TV was a ceiling height and could only really be viewed with any comfort from lying down on the bed. Considering the average chain hotel at half this price has seating and significantly more comfort we were very disappointed.
This was a lovely place to stay, the old hall was a great building to have breakfast in. It's location in the centre of Whitby was good particularly with young children. The rooms were very clean and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great with more than plenty to eat.
It was difficult to sit and relax as there were no chairs in the rooms. The pillows were rather thin and flat but none of that detracted from a great stay.
parking at the hotel.location to the center of town.
guest allowed to smoke in the doorway outside next to our bedroom window.
