The main hotel was very good but we stayed in the annex which was very good but a bit of a hike to the main area and with the weather bad it was a little inconvienient although the staff in the dinning room were really friendly The food portion were on the meager side, good job we were not starving and the bar prices reaklly high

Food and sevice in the dining room was excellent. Free wifi is good. Room was excellent size. We had room #11 and when we got into the room at 10:30 pm it was freezing cold. The central heating is totally inadequate and the plug in "emergency" electric heater which we had to leave on all night - was noisy. You should provide dressing gowns for the bathroom.

The food was good and the staff were friendly The room was awful. Not clean. Electric was faulty to the lights. Which was not sorted out. There was a crack in the mirror in the bathroom and a crack in the toilet. Poor for £120 per night

The gardens. Friendly staff. The cooked breakfast. The character and history of the hotel.loved the fact that dogs are welcome. Loved the cosy log fires The wedding breakfast mealwasn't good at all and let the hotel down, also we had a 7 wk old baby with us and wasn't able to have their room earlier than time given ( to breastfeed and change baby) without incurring an extra charge of £25. a put off for future bookings . I would have thought that the hotel would like to encourage families.

I was attending a family wedding and it was nice to catch up with everyone. After the Manager was a bit rude and off with me she finally came to her senses and offered us a room in the main building where there was no issue with the alarm continually going off. Rooms and hotel were very cold. Alarms kept going off and initially not dealt with well by staff. I had booked 2 rooms, one for myself and one for my son and 6mth old Grandson, whom had to deal with the high pitch alarm which was damaging to his ears, along with evacuating the hotel and being in the cold on at least 3 occasions.

The hotel setting is lovely, nice grounds and the building is beautiful but, if your going to stay then don't expect much for £120 as the place is dated. We booked well in advance for a friends wedding and specifically asked not to be put in the annex but I don't believe the email was read as we ended up in the annex anyway. Lovely place though and as long as I wasn't in the annex I would stay again. Oh and one last thing, give plenty of time for breakfast as I believe we waited half hour before anyone even took our order

Beautiful location and grounds. I know we are a persecuted minority but there are still a lot of smokers in this world, there were no allocated smoking areas other than njust outside. In this country it does rain a lot and is often very chilly in the evening and at night, a covered outside area preferably with some form of heating, as found in most pubs nowadays, would have been much appreciated. You would be surprised how many so called non smokers nip out for a fag when drinking !

As a sole traveller I felt safe at the hotel. The room was excellent [upgraded]. I loved the rubber duck in the back, I thought this was a really nice touch and not seen before. I thought the evening dinner menu was expensive @ £24.95 per head. I met a colleague and we actually left the hotel for dinner when we were actually going to stay before looking at the price.

Lovely settings Felt that the room was very expensive for what we were given - we were in the Lakeside block at the back which is completely separate from the main hotel and more like an annexe. It was a friends wedding so we didn't have any option but to stay and didn't realise beforehand that we would be accommodated at the rear of the hotel and it was £11 for 2 drinks which is more than double than we normally pay on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield. Why do hotels exploit people at Wedding Receptions??? Its always the same to make a quick buck! that aside, the full English was superb and the hotel and grounds itself are pretty spectacular. The room was clean so apart from the expense, we can't really fault it.

Staff were very helpful and friendly The room was small and tired, stains all over the carpet, mould in the grouting around the bath and the bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in the cost per night is grossly overpriced for the standard of the accommodation, although the location is nice and breakfast was good Did not make an issue of this so as not to spoil the occasion as we were among a number of guests staying for a wedding

Well set up for events/parties. They host lots of weddings/receptions. Nice location, views and gardens. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking space. Good breakfast. Golf course is closed for good. So they need to change the name in their marketing. Some aspects of the hotel could do with refurbishment. Bathrooms not great. Poor water pressure, bath panel hanging off, lights not working, room to room phone on the blink. Bits and bobs like that let it down.

I stayed last year and it was great. i was very disappointed for the following reasons. The mix up with my booking for the second time. the way in which this was dealt with. We had to stand in the corridor until an appropriate room could be sorted out. There was a problem with the bath in the new room and when turning on the tap I got soaked. the water was warm not hot.The WiFi was not working in the room we were allocated and as this service was offered it was annoying. Especially as this was a business trip. The only compensation offered was a free cup of coffee. I would have liked to have been offered a discount on the stay.
