Bed very comfy, and big! Lovely setting Perfect location Reasonable price.
Couldn't get wifi in the Garden room. In garden room toilet was very very noisy.
Bagshaw Hall has all the character of an old building, with comfortable rooms & good facilities in an excellent elevated position just above Bakewell town centre. Having our own cooking facilities was a bonus.
Managing staff very friendly, attractive old building set on the hill with lovely views out and cute garden for guests to sit in.
Overall, a significantly lower standard than other B and Bs of comparable price in the Peaks/Dales/Moors districts. Not very clean. Basement bathroom drainage completely inadequate -- shower backs up and overflows before water even runs warm. Extremely noisy waste water pump. Smoke alarm functioning, but hanging off ceiling with wires exposed. Place needs a significant clean and much better attention to detail (i.e provide a bathmat, spare toilet roll...) to come up to the 'luxury' standard they seem to be aiming for. A pity because relatively little work would make the most of the nice old building. Appears to be co-managed with the 'SleepLodge' next door, so parking is shared and strictly first come, first served.
Comfortable but overpriced
Beautiful old building, friendly staff
Beautiful old building in gorgeous Bakewell Comfortable king bed Modern renovated room
Low beams Our room was below ground level Difficult access to room Tiny bathroom
Large room so plenty of space without bumping into each other.
Lack of bar. Kitchen area not really suitable for anything more complicated than toast or cold breakfast food.
The views ,the quiet, the room
The house has character. It was useful to have a kitchen. Location for seeing the town and the area very good. Rooms are nicely cleaned and tidied on a daily basis.
Almost no staff to find. No-one at a desk or easy to find for problems. Had to call for assistance, but no phone in the rooms. Not even a person for check-in and check-out without phoning. Suite was very small and rather cramped, though I saw some others that appeared very lovely. Parking very tight and made harder by location on a hill with a narrow one-way access pattern. Payment is a huge issue. Early information indicates that most forms of payment are accepted, though mentions a fee for using credit cards. There is no card reader available, so, in reality, payment by card is very hard. Payment by debit card is little better. The number would not be taken without a scanner, so it didn't work and I had to make other arrangements after leaving the hotel. This needs to be improved. Some basic maintenance is needed and a more complete cleaning would not go amiss, though day-to-day care is good. Wi-Fi would not work in the room and getting the password was remarkably difficult.
Left alone to do our own thing
Not enough parking space Continental breakfast is poor
Convenient for town, had direct access to front garden, comfortable bed, facilities for making our own breakfast.
Hardly saw any staff, bathroom cramped, slight smell from drain in shower, pump very noisy at times, terms and conditions not in line with those of Booking.com, money taken from card on day of arrival without telling us.
Very pleasant. Great location and a wonderful welcome on arrival. They could not do enough for you
Separate bedroom and living area. Kitchenette with washer-dryer, microwave, fridge, kettle and dish-washer Queen size bed Location above Bakewell with gardens and lovely views over town and across the Dales. Didn't take the car out during two day stay as we walked around the area. Small supermarket and plenty of eating places within walking distance
No door on en suite bathroom
Beautiful old building with lots of character and stunning views. Our old dog Molly was welcomed by staff and visitors and allowed to roam freely
Mattress very uncomfortable and not up to standard. Smell of drains periodically which was awful. To be fair an alternate room was offered. Sister took jacuzzi bath and brown scum came out of jets. Would have reported but she only told me once home. Did not meet my expectations of luxury
it was very well situated for the town the hall was quiet and rooms private which was what we wanted
the room we had was situated at the bottom of the hall the windows were very high up and it felt like you were in the basement also the cooked breakfast was eight pounds extra and wasnt worth the money but was nice to be served in the room
The location and facilities...Plus the welcoming and friendly staff.
Open plan toilet and shower...No wifi signal...
We were wanting to stay at places that were interesting, that had a sense of history and this place is very old. It was memorable. We appreciated having a little kitchen and the location is in the centre of the town with parking.
It was hot, and we realize that we were there in the middle of a heat wave. This place happened to be just about the most expensive of all our accommodations on our trip, so I was left to wonder if it was the best value when compared to some of our other stays. It was very awkward to haul our suitcases all over the building, up and down stairs to get to our room.
We were welcomed by Georgina in though we arrived in a down pour. The accommodation was clean and very nicely decorated. The kitchen facilities were above expectations and the bed was very comfortable
Car parking can be a little difficult if other guests don't park thoughtfully. Guests arriving late evening or coming back from a night out are not very considerate of guests already in bed particularly as our room faced the car park
THe room was comfortable and the staff lovely. The situation is very convenient to the township. The Hall is a beautiful building.
The interior decoration is amateurish for this establishment. The modern art although quite skillful unfortunately does not fit here. A professional assessment by an interior designer would be very beneficial for this lovely house. This property could be stunning.
this was a great place to stay. Central to Bakewell and a short car drive from Chatsworth House
Nothing really apart from the fact that I could not get wifi on my ipad but could on my kindle
Bagshaw Hall is a lovely old house with bags of charm and lovely views. The staff were very helpful and our suite very cosy.
Although the steep climb up to the house didn't worry us, it may be difficult for those less able.
Comfortable bed Beautiful view Stylish Friendly and helpful staff Peaceful Perfect location Amazing artwork
That our stay was for only one night.
Location was great. Although the steep hill is a killer!
Wifi didn't work and only half of a window opened. No tissues and fan very very noisy.
Quiet location within walking distance of shops, restaurants and country walks. Off street parking. Interesting decor and comfortably furnished; lovely bathroom and lashings of hot water. Staff welcoming and informative
Kitchen facilities in need of repair; dishwasher not working and sink unit tatty. Gardens could do with a bit of attention. Upstairs ventilation poor in hot weather.
Lovely building, well designed rooms. Kitchenette a good idea.
The little touches that make it special were missing, decent tea, fresh milk, etc
