Location Clean Friendly Staff Very close to venue we were at All we needed for a good stay
Cooked Breakfast was very good but alternatives like Fruit, yoghurt and Cereal would have been nice. Staff were very helpful and friendly!
Staff were helpful and friendly, room was clean and comfortable, local people using bar were eager to get into conversation with you. Easy access to rail station, with regular trains to both Glasgow and Edinburgh. Excellent value for money.
Breakfast was a little limited in selection, although there was no shortage of food. Food that was on offer was good.
The rate is cheap.
We had phoned to warn that we'd be arriving at midnight, but they did not keep our reservation: we were travelling with our 5-year-old daughter and we had reserved a family room, but they gave us a double room with no spare bed. Besides, we had to phone several times before someone picked up the phone. When arriving late, you have to go to the pub to retrieve the key, and it's not easy to make yourself understood because of the noise. As it was a Saturday night, it was noisy because of the pub below.
Great location and staff
Very noisy they have a pub below and a karaoke that seems to be inside the room. When it was close at 12:00 the people keep staying in front so imposible to sleep properly It was dirty
food was excellant , brilliant atmosphere , staff great , I'm booking for next year !
Rooms were big Easy access to a drink
Shower could do with upgrading Decor is a bit out of date Breakfast could be a bit more inviting Bed wasn't made No clean towels, had to run out of room to grab some
location and availablity of evening food
beds were uncomfortable and pillows not very good
Need to change broken items in the room, breakfast presentation and offering.
This goes for Scotland generally...but especially the staff from owner Lorraine, bar staff, to kitchen with Chef Colin and Lyn, night-time duty officers Jimmy and also Alec were all superlative. we were a bit obvious with our yellow 'n gold Aussie gear for the Commonwealth games and even had some of the locals 'buying us a beer'! A great base to go to or from Edinburgh or Glasgow. Ian & Cecily
Restauarant was closed but we were advised and physically directed to open food outlets! Thank you you were brilliant!
The staff were very helpfull, friendly, and could not be more accommodating. Also the people of Bathgate were very friendly.Nice places to eat and good pubs.
I suppose only being there a short time
I liked this hotel from the moment we stept into it till we left staff were all very welcoming and helpful have not got a bad word to say about The Balbairdie
Not one thing did wedislike about this place
Had a great welcome even though the bar was very busy. Helped with our bags and given all the info we needed. The room was better than you'd expect for the price. It was warm, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was self service and ok. The staff were great - gave us plenty of information about the area and local events.
Nothing. Rooms may be noisy if over the bar possibly but we didn't have any problem at all.
The staff are very gracious and helpful. The breakfast was very good, made to my order. I have also eaten some of their lunches and desserts. All are top notch, thanks to the work of their chef, Colin.
In the past, I stayed at the Balbairdie on 2 of their karoake nights. First night, I was directly above the pub. The second night, I moved further back in the hotel. However, with the open windows needed for air circulation, there was not much difference. Therefore, no real sleep was possible until nearly 2 AM. Since then, I don't stay there on karoake nights and I sleep just fine.
Friendly welcome Free parking Close to town centre Close to train station
This is a pub with rooms not a hotel. The pub is obviously the main focus of the business and is given priority. There was karaoke and loud music/dj in the bar until 1am both nights we stayed. Couple this with groups of smokers from the bar standing outside talking not far from our window made it impossible to sleep. We could only get to sleep once the bar closed but were than woken up several times by more noise. For example, groups of people walking past shouting, banging doors, the plumbing and a washing machine being used not far from our room. We did not enjoy our stay and will not go back.
friendly staff that make you really welcome and fresh food x
Location was good as it was close to the Bathgate train station which we needed to get to Glasgow. Despite any misgivings, the staff did try to meet our needs and the bed was comfortable.
Very poor Wifi, worked for a few hours when we arrived but nothing after that. The room was not cleaned properly and we found someone's dirty clothes in the wardrobe.
The staff were very friendly and the rooms were old but clean. They were having trouble with their wifi. We were above the pub but it was quiet. The breakfast was average.
Didn't like the instant coffee and the wifi was intermittent.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Bit awkward to find - tucked away in what appears to be just a pay and display car-park.
Decent, clean room and bathroom. Comfortable bed. Very good value for money.
Nearby recycling bins were emptied at 6:00 am with thunderous noise.
Great location for our requirements. Large room which was clean and suited our needs.
Not the quietest of places but still managed a resonable sleep.
The staff were very welcoming
It's a bit intimidating arriving to note that it's above a pub.
Staff on arrival were very nice as were the staff in the restaurant.
Window in first room didn't close so was offered choice of twin room or family room. We took the family room. Rooms need updating. Room overlooked beer garden which was very noisy beyond midnight. There was Karoke in the bar till 12.30. If we had know that we would not have booked. Breakfast very poor. Only pre-cooked scrambled egg , cheap sausages and bacon. Loaf on the side with butter and jam. Was not offered tea/coffee or juice until we had nearly finished our breakfast. Staff were too busy in the beer garden having a cigarette. Had an evening meal but had to wait 45 minutes for our food.
