Best Western Balgeddie House HotelBalgeddie Way, KY6 3ET Glenrothes (Show map) Very good, Score from 105 reviews“Balgeddie is extremely comfortable. The room was very spacious. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were very helpful. ”

This traditional country house hotel is in quiet countryside in North Glenrothes. It mixes original character with modern comforts, including free Wi-Fi, free parking and flat-screen TVs. The Balgeddie House Hotel looks out over its own large gardens and the Fife countryside. It was built in 1923 and has now been extended and refurbished. The rooms have private bathrooms and TVs with Freeview digital channels. There is a relaxed cocktail lounge and an oak-paneled cocktail bar, with a fine range of malt whiskeys. The Brasserie offers fresh Scottish cuisine, and looks out over the gardens. A full cooked Scottish breakfast is on the breakfast menu in the Brasserie. Hotel Rooms: 30

Polite and friendly staff. Rooms were well maintained as were communal areas. Large car park. Relatively quiet, we had a room right opposite the stairs and even then there was very little noise from the corridor. Good water pressure and hot water from the shower. The room was nice and warm even in winter. Bed was excellent and very comfortable. Pool and gym facilities are available to guests as part of stay. The hotel is not in quiet countryside in North Glenrothes as booking.com states in the description, it is in the middle of a housing estate in North Glenrothes. It is also not a Spa and Wellness centre, it has a 17m pool and CV suite, not what could be described as a spa. The food was good enough but seriously overpriced for what it was. It was pub food from a limited menu, but the prices certainly did not reflect this. For a hotel restaurant advertising itself as a 'Brasserie', the paper napkin, lack of a tablecloth and poor table layout was disappointing.

For the money (£61.00) it was good. Breakfast was poor, cold beans, bacon dripping in fat, tea cold, had to find milk and spoons, waitress totaly disinterested. On check out however it was not charged for but would have preferred at decent meal!

Helpful staff, very clean and good food. I booked what I thought was a spa hotel, although it had a swimming pool (looks like a local council run pool) sauna and steam room it had no hot tub/jacuzzi or spa bath.and had no spa treatments were availible as they dont have any staff trained to provide these. The hotel also has a cocktail bar which doesnt do cocktails. I ordered room service which was 20 mins as stated in the menu but this took over an hour. I was wakened at 3.00am and again at 7.30am by a screaming child as I have kids myself I understand how this may happen but at a "spa hotel" its not expected as this was meant a relaxing break. When i told the hotel about this in the morning I was told that will be the american family that has been here for the last week.

The new swimming and spa facilities are excellent. I lived in Glenrothes most of my life and moved to Wales about 5 years ago. All my family still live in Glenrothes and I often come up with my fiance to visit. We usually stay at te Premier Inn as my daughter works there but we felt that the Balgeddie House Hotel was more value for money than Premier, Travelodge or Holiday Inn. We had a very comfortable stay and would definetly come back. Nothing. (Would have been nice if the bar was a little more busier)

The room was excellent, though slightly letdown by the very average bathroom, which also dropped the cleanliness rating to a 'good'. The hotel itself has a lovely comfortable yet affluent feel about it. The staff were absolutely superb to a soul, every last one was friendly helpful and well informed. Breakfast, though not included, still gave excellent value for money and was very well prepared. Two weeks ago we paid more than twice the amount for a room in another hotel and it was found 'wanting'. The Best Western Balgeddie outshone this more expensive hotel immeasurably. We are going to go back.... £58.00 per night - outstanding! The only thing we had a wee pause over, was the bathroom, a bit on the small side and I am not a huge fan of the overbath shower, however, this is governed by the constriction of space. We did find the hair of a previous occupant in the bath, in the plughole and a few strands on the wall. That was it - not much really.

Were upgraded on arrival and the deluxe room in the new spa was fantastic. The staff are very nice and the hotel is very quiet and relaxing. Breakfast is quite expensive for a very limited choice. The hotel is now in the middle of a housing estate and is not quite what you expect of a country house.

The hotel staff were friendly from the moment we arrived until the time we left, Only minor complaint was when I entered postcode into sat-nav to get location of hotel I ended up on a different street, if anyone going to Balgeddie hotel I suggest entering street name as opposed to postcode into your sat-nav device.

Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was Excellent. Facilities such as the bar, restaurant and swimming pool were first class. The local railway stations provide quick and easy access to local towns and cities such as Edinburgh, Dundee and Perth. Situated in the centre of Fife it is ideal for exploring the stunning coastline and countryside.

It was comfortable clean and close to the venue of the wedding I was attending. The heat in the hotel rooms and public places was extremely uncomfortable. The first night I hardly slept. The window in my room did not open it was an old sash window probably painted over (room 207) When we mentioned it on checking out the reply was its either too hot or too cold everyone complains!!

Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, hotel was clean and smart, good food in restaurant at reasonable prices.Free use of gym, which is considerably better than most hotel gyms. Minor point but staff were spraying down tables whilst we were eating, slightly offputting but a small price to pay for not having table cloths ( saving the environment).

Every single member of staff who dealt with us was an absolute credit to your company. As for our evening meal/drinks,etc,, we would run out of superlatives! Our room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and, err, 'roomy', to say the least! One of the best hotels either of us have stayed in - ever! Will we back? You bet we will! Having spent a few minutes on this, we can honestly not think of one negative comment!
