Nice welcome, got a quiet room as requested. Room and bed comfortable and breakfast great. Love the location and staff are nice.
Ideal location, really friendly staff, large room , really clean
Fantastic room, albeit on the top floor, but wonderful views.we were unexpectedly forced to return to Edinburgh after the east coast line was closed,so had to book a room in a hurry so glad we did,the ballantrae is a beautiful building and a great hotel, continental breakfast was superb, looking forward to staying again.
excellent friendly staff, good central location, warm room. very nice all round
would of liked the option of a simple cooked breakfast, maybe something like scrambled/poached eggs
Our room was lovely and comfortable. The staff were very professional friendly and nothing was too much trouble to them.car park was a bonus and got parked no bother so never had a problem even when we checked out we could leave the car til we finished our shopping! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be near city centre.
We chose this hotel ideally for its location and you cant argue its not in a prime location. Less than 5 minutes to Edinburgh playhouse and less than 5 minutes to Harvey Nichlos. We thought we walked into the wrong room. It was a gorgeous, bright and large. You definitely pay for what you get for. We found it unique our room wasn't in the main building but in number 12 (having a front door key meant we could come in and out without disturbing anyone).
we never tried the breakfast or the bar area.
The hotel was great, the location is amazing. The staff were great on giving us on advice on what to go and see. Our room was clean and fresh yet still with character.
Climbing of the stairs u wouldhave to advise older or people with disability there is no lift
Very comfortable small hotel...great location. Near to Central buses and trams for travelling to and from the airport. Central to castle and shops.
Location, Location, Location. A comfortable and relaxing base for a weekend.
Breakfast could have offered more
location and bed, plus view from room
bathroom had few faults, such as running water stayed warm so no drinking water available, leaky tap, lack of choice for breakfast
Room really big and central to what we were looking for. Went overnight for theatre was absolutely brilliant and ideal. Will definitely return.
Location and warth of everything and everbody
ideal position for rail and bus station very close to main shopping and city centre. Pleasant staff, delicious continental breakfast.
Myself and my friends go a trip to Edinburgh every Christmas for the market and to see a show in the Playhouse. The hotel room we booked was the deluxe quadruple room and it was huge with a double and two twin beds as well as a really comfy big sofa. The hotel is a 5 min walk from the playhouse and 10 min walk to the market so really central to everything. Couldn't recommend highly enough. Brilliant value for money.
location was good for we needed to do
considering I boked 2 months in advance for a twin room, I got a double bed with a sofa bed as a second bed, VERY DISAPOINTED, considering they had rooms spare when I booked then this!!!!!!
The room was really nice and warm. Location was stellar. Staff was very kind.
Coffee at breakfast was gross, just have tea!
The TV was very good. They gave to us a big space room.
The handsome reception boy was not very nice. There were a hair lay on my bed before I sat down. The wifi connection was not too good. The breakfast were cold dishes even meats. 100% different from the picture and real.
+ close to center + close to tram (your potential airport connection) + no issues worth mentioning actually other than the short bed
- bed was short and old
Good sized room close to centre of Edinburgh, clean and comfortable.
Over hot room unable to open window much
The room was massive the four of us had loads of room to move
The negative is the room was at the front of the hotel on the main road and we didn,t get much sleep on the Friday night due to people shouting and loads of traffic noise.Saturday night was a bit quieter but still was woken a couple of times during the night
Location, breakfast included. Nice room. Good bathroom. Nice friendly and helpful staff.
Rather faded, especially in public areas. Entrance especially
Spacious room Great location Comfortable bed Pleasant decor Courteous staff Good value
WiFi didn't work (though didn't need it so didn't try to resolve issue - may have been easily fixed)
Lovely welcoming smile from the receptionist! First floor room which was lovely! Spacious and spotless.Huge shower and plenty of toiletries to use. A quick walk to the right and across the road and you were straight up to Harvey Nicks and Princes St... Perfect. Felt safe walking from there on my own!
Doors seemed to be a bit noisy?? Not great if there were late guests.
