Quiet and comfortable. Would stay again.
Poor Wi-Fi connection in the room.
Everything in this hotel is amazing from the spacious rooms to the staff..
Good location for access to city centre, and Haymarket tram/train station nearby. Staff were helpfull and friendly throughout our stay.Nice period building .
Furnishings in rooms are a bit tired.Extractor fan in bathroom not working, shower height adjustment broken, bathroom needs a face lift
Great location, lovely spacious family room.
Really good value for money. Nice big clean room. Bathroom could do with renovation but shower worked well. Would definitely use the hotel again
Had to ask for wifi password, would be better if this was available in the room
Bed was comfy but seen cleaner
The staff were friendly, nice continental breakfast and close to the city centre
I liked my room, but had to climb stairs from the toilet/shower room up to my bedroom, this was a disappointment as I requested no stairs.
Lack of expenditure on this property!
Staff helpfulness Location was great
The iron in the room didn't work....BUT the staff sorted the issue very quickly and with no fuss
Warm and friendly welcome, would return to this hotel
Good choice for continental breakfast. Nice and clean ... Good location
Nice location. Walking distance from most locations or just a feet away from bus station. The price is pretty good and the bedrooms are clean and organised.
There was free WIFI but the signal did not reach the room.
The bed was comfortable enough.
Had to be moved room as the room we were allocated was filthy, cobwebs all over the walls, wallpaper hanging off, drawer handles missing, dirty toilet, black grout on tiles in the bathroom. Second room not much better, light fittings broken, missing bulbs, soap in plug hole in the shower, black grout on the tiles again, broken sofa, toilet flush broken, paint peeling off inside bathroom door, room not serviced during our stay. Wiring needing looked at, extension cables on full view, lights flickering constantly due to poor wiring possibly. Kettle lead not long enough to reach socket so kettle had to be boiled in the cupboard.
The hotel was in York place not west end as we had booked , no problem to us, it was in fact better for us , being nearer the town and we were given free upgrade, and notice the week before travel , very pleasant staff lovely room with beautiful bathroom..very comfortable stay..we would stay again,, on our last trip we stayed at the Carlton Hotel ,but we would rather stay at The Ballantrae York place ..
everything is very nice
Lovely staff, fabulous room. We were worried for the price of only £49 it might not be up to much. We actually had a lounge area in our room! Would definitely stay again.
Friendly and helpful staff Quiet location but not too far from the centre if you don't mind a walk
A bit expensive - but it was Hogmanay; enough said!
Great value, great location, very convenient for everything
The breakfast options, there wasn't much choice. And spending this price, we expected cooked eggs, or bacon at least.
Nice little hotel, updating needed. Didn't see much of staff. We were in room ten which is under the kitchen, so from 630am it gets noisey. The bar didn't seem to be open.
Noise from kitchen No parking facilities
loose tiles in bathroom, cobwebs in bedroom
It is clean although a bit difficult to find it.
The wireless internet, is almost u seless.
The hotel was in a great location, not too far away from the centre, but far enough away to be quiet. A beautiful building, old fashioned but beautiful. All the staff were lovely and helpful.
We would of liked a better breakfast option, but for the price it was good. the rooms was generally clean, however in some areas, ie under the bed was very dusty.
The location of the hotel
No lift is there to move luggage upstairs.
location bed bathroom
cellar room peeling wallpaper lack of tee and milk on the second day very poor help with parking locations, I was given directions on a map to a car park by a member of staff and the car park had been under construction for at least two weeks. On returning to the hotel another member of staff was not too helpful with any advice on parking facilities. This was not a good start to a weekend break, I think the staff at the hotel should be able to give visitors as much information on anything required
