Staff, service , decor and grounds. Well stocked bar and excellent food.
there is nothing not to like
The location of the hotel, peaceful and tranquil. The food served in the restaurant is first class, always hot and very fresh. The staff were all very pleasant and eager to help. service in all areas was excellent
there wasn't Anything I didn't like
surroundings. very attentive and friendly staff. overall atmosphere conducive to relaxation.
food not up to usual high standard. Somewhat mean with the quantity of food. relatively expensive- 3 course meal £44.95. glass of sherry £5.
Atmosphere and service. Food is also excellent.
Lovely decor and building, comfy bed
Room far too hot, not informed of compulsory communal dining, expected a la carte as I had been told when booking. Not very romantic.
The warm friendly welcoming atmosphere. Excellent dinners with, clearly, a wonderful chef Waitress service excellent.
Coffee at breakfast not hot. Some specific requests at breakfast not strictly followed.
We liked everything, all of the Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was really superb. I have been to this hotel many times and every visit has been superb.
Nothing to report here, it was just superb
Liked everything about Ballathie House.
Would have preffered to stay in the Hotel but we did know that we were going to the annex - which is a wee bit away but we took the car down for meals etc - our friends, who are younger than us walked down in a minute. We would not let that put us off returning - it was a very minor detail!
I love the awesome grounds with pheasants, squirrels, deer etc, view of the River Tay flowing through. Staff were very friendly, fantastic, delicious food with wonderful presentation. Can't fault it.Bed and Bathrooms are really nice with many comfortable amenities.
Could hear from neighbouring room.
The staff were first class throughout. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent and very well served.
The riverside apartment is just a bit too detached from the main hotel. We were there for a special event and it was not nice trekking up to the hotel on a damp night in best bib.
Lovely room with a balcony overlooking the Tay. Very comfortable and warm without being overdone as we had two gundogs with us. The Hotel and grounds are very dog friendly. The evening meal was definitely "fine dining" straight from Master Chef and was not cheap but was outstanding. Service could not be better with staff attentive and friendly. Breakfast excellent with lots of fresh fruit etc. really treated
Breakfast Wedding menu
Only one bar which meant lengthy wait.
very good staff super food
Staff were very friendly
Ballathie makes you feel like a rural gent meeting at his favorite weekend retreat. You pay for and receive a quality stay.
The food was excellent but the menu for evening meal menu a little repetitive.
Been before and will go again. Food is top class
Loved all the taxidermy, in keeping with the hunting, shooting, fishing feel. Loved the antiques, paintings LOVED the food - amazing Loved all the public areas Staff were lovely
there was nothing I did not like,
staff / location / ample parking
the hotel drinks measures are doubles i would prefer these to be singles unless stated
Comfortable hotel with beautiful views over the river stay.
Not the best breakfast we've had. Could be quicker and more generous.
The staff, the accomodation, the dinner and the setting of the hotel
staying in sportsman lodge was ok, it was clean beds comfortable plenty room large bathroom .
we arrived on Friday afternoon as we had a wedding on the Saturday at the hotel, my husband went to have a shower to find there was no hot water or heating I phoned reception to report it , the receptionist said she would get back to me , she rang back to say she had told the manager and it was being dealt with .Next day Saturday still no hot water or heating went for breakfast asked the staff when we would have hot water but they didn't know.Luckily my sister in law was staying in the main hotel and said we could shower in her room , no thanks to the manager we got to the wedding fresh and clean . It was later on in the evening before there was hot water .Next day when we checked out we were told we would not have to pay for Friday's night stay as compensation ,but really the lack of an apology and communication from the manager was disgraceful , all other members of stall were very polite and helpful .
We liked everything and will be going back next time we need to treat ourselves but
Comfortable stay, charming and helpful staff.
The atmosphere and the friendly staff. We were a company of three couples and found the hotel lovely. We arrived in time for the Scotland match only to find the hotel had no sky tv , so no football. Also no disabled access as had to carry our cases the whole distance to our rooms but we are Aberdeenshire folk and managed ok. We were the table who got the big fat caterpillar on our table at breakfast !! It was not on the menu !!
Location, food and ambience of the house.
Annex rooms a little disappointing could do with an upgrade.
